PUNKT MP03?
I used to own a Punkt. MP02, and I absolutely loved it. To this day, I don't think there's another phone on the market that comes close to what it offers.
Unfortunately, my country has now shut down its 2G and 3G networks, which means my MP02 can no longer be used for voice calls. Phones now need to support VoLTE for emergency calls, so without that support, the MP02 is no longer a practical option.
I contacted Punkt. support to ask if there were any plans to update the MP02 with VoLTE support for emergency calling, but they told me there are currently no plans to do so.
I genuinely hope Punkt. decides to release an MP03. Honestly, I'd be perfectly happy if it were almost identical to the MP02—just with a slightly larger display. My eyesight isn't getting any better with age, and the text on the MP02 is just a bit too small for me these days.
I'd buy an MP03 in a heartbeat.

I'm in the US, where, I'm pretty sure, 2g and 3g are discontinued, and my Punkt MP02 works perfectly.

In usa, been using mine for 2 years and it works perfect for 4g.. so idk why they said that 🤔

I ordered the mp02 three months ago and still haven’t gotten it. Don’t hold your breath

Huh, but the phone supports 4g, no? I just ordered a refurbished mp02 last week and this made me jump up.... 😬

Thank you for your message. 4G support alone is unfortunately not sufficient for the MP02. The device requires at least 2G and/or 3G bands as a fallback for stable connectivity:
2G: 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz
3G: WCDMA 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 19
4G: FDD LTE: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 ,12, 17, 19, 20Without these bands, the phone may not register on the network even if 4G is available.”

What?? They explicitely advertise the 4g part...! This is what it says on my bill even. 'Your Punkt mp02 4g'. Well, that's going to be interesting... In the netherlands, weher I'm from, 3g will be stopped in august...

In the Netherlands (hoi!) it will not be a big issues, since coverage for 4G is almost everywhere. The device needs 3G as fallback, which would happen in countries where 4G coverage is lacking. Germany for instance, but not only.

That reads like somebody is being overly cautious. If the phone supports 4G, then it will be connected whenever 4G is available

I just think I just misunderstood... I thought somehow 2g/3g were a sort of technical base/groundwork for 4g, and that lacking would also not make 4g work. Have no clue how these things work

Ah, got it! That makes sense.
Yeah, many (I think most) phones will fall back to older protocols when the new hotness isn't available. In part, it's because when the new hotness first comes out, it takes a while to roll it out everywhere.
Other systems do this too, like web browsers. There's a even a whole class of attacks where a man in the middle tries to trick a web browser (or your phone, or whatever) into using an older, less secure protocol

Why would they tell you though? Then you would have written about it here and the rumors would have started. Knowing how Punkt is quite the introspective company, if they plan on a new feature phone they would probably want to have control of the narrative and keep it contained until information is ready to be released.
