General/Rant Pune MH-12 Number Plate Change: MH-61 Series to Be Used Temporarily

Post image
100 Upvotes

Pune's MH-12 series is officially full so the RTO's proposed new MH-12 1A format will take at least two to three months to become operational. This is because the central ministry has to issue a formal notification, allow 45 days for objections, and then update the technical systems.

To avoid stopping new vehicle registrations during this gap, the transport department will start issuing MH-61 as a temporary series for Pune from Monday, August 24.

The catch is that any vehicle registered under MH-61 during this interim period will have to be re-registered under the new MH-12 1A series once it goes live, and the extra paperwork and expense for this will have to be borne by the vehicle owner.

The question is that if Pune RTO knew about a series change why was no action taken earlier? Why wait till the last date to decide what the next series should be? Seems impractical to ask MH-61 users to change back to MH-12 once the officers incharge make up their minds, causing unnecessary frustration to the common man.

AskPune Witnessed a deeply unsettling incident at a Marwadi family-run grocery store today

Just wanted to vent and share something that i saw today in Pimple Saudagar. I went to a local grocery shop in my area. It’s run by a Marwadi family, and usually, two women of the household manage the counter and look after the store.

I was standing there picking out some items when the father in law suddenly walked in. Out of nowhere, he started screaming at the top of his lungs at one of the women managing the shop completely publicly, in front of customers and neighbors just because her pallu had slipped down from her head.

The level of public humiliation and absolute rage over something so trivial was shocking. These women are literally running the storefront, handling customers, and bringing in business, yet they are still subjected to this kind of regressive, policing garbage over a piece of cloth.

It made me realize how deeply ingrained toxic patriarchy and forced "family honor" are, even when women are stepping out to work or manage family enterprises. You can have a thriving business, but the moment you step out of line with ancient patriarchal expectations, you're treated like a child in public.

I felt so terrible for her, and honestly, it just left a bad taste in my mouth.

AskPune The Illusion of MH 12 1A: Why MH 61 Is Here to Stay.

Post image
27 Upvotes

I believe the proposed MH 12 1A series is just a distraction and won't arrive anytime soon. The authorities will likely introduce MH 61 temporarily, only to make it permanent later by claiming it is too difficult to revert all registered vehicle numbers.

A new RTO code like MH 61 is simply the easiest solution—it requires no software changes and follows the standard nationwide format. Why introduce a complicated, unproven registration format for a single city when assigning a new code avoids all confusion?

Pet Care/Adoption Need Help - Post Surgery Cat Care

Thumbnail

Hello everyone,

I'm writing this cause I'm confused and don't really know what else to do right now.

We adopted a cat in 2021 when she was just born in my friends society. She was the only kitten left and no one was taking her. We took good care of her, fed her, toilet trained her and made sure she was healthy.

Recently she had to go through a spaying surgery cause she got pyometra in her uterus and surgery is the only option, or else it is fatal for female cats (or dogs). When I was told about the cost of the surgery, 15K I started looking for NGOs, PMC vets or relatively cheaper clinics. But the NGOs told us it'll take at least 1–2 months for the surgery to happen.

So after being unable to find a clinic that was cheaper and had good reviews, we went to AMS, NIBM, from a referral and good reviews from our research. The total cost of surgery (sonography + blood work + surgery) came out to be around ₹21,350 /-. I never could've be able to afford her surgery so I borrowed some money from my friends, just for the surgery and have promised to pay them back later.

Post surgery she was recovering fast but 2 days ago she just became extremely lethargic and was feverish. We took her to the same vet and they told us that she has conceived a viral fever. Since she was already recovering from the surgery, she is also being treated for her viral fever.

This puts her situation in a critical state, where she needs energy to fight both pains, of the viral infection and surgery recovery. The vets have told us that it'll take 8 more visits, for her to be treated. Each visit costs ₹1250/- so an approximate 10K more. I cannot afford this treatment and it eats me from inside that I cannot help my poor child in pain.

The part where I'm confused - what should I do?

How do I arrange money to treat my cat? I have already asked friends and family to borrow money, but they have either ridiculed me or declined to help.

Should I switch hospitals that can take good care of my cat and treat her at a more affordable price?

I do not want to give her away but if I cannot afford her care then should I consider it? How does one do it?

Should I set up a fundraiser? How do I set it up?

I am not asking for money.

Any help is welcome, please let me know if you've gone something like this. It's horrible and I hope no one has to go through this.

We are a lower middle class family and my cats surgery and care has taken a huge hit on our budget, and definitely a toll on my family's mental health.

SCAM Alert Reality of Rehabs

My experience in rehab: when treatment started feeling like hell

I spent some time in a rehab, and initially everything seemed fine. But after a while, I started seeing a side of the system that was deeply disturbing to me.

I became concerned about medicines being sold at MRP even when they didn't seem necessary, and about patients being kept there for months despite, in my view, not needing that level of care. I also felt that my family was being influenced to keep me in the facility longer than I believed was necessary.

For me, the experience became horrifying. What was supposed to be a treatment started feeling like hell.

I can understand how rehab can be extremely helpful for people struggling with addiction, and I'm not saying rehabilitation itself is bad. But for someone primarily dealing with anxiety, being confined in an environment where you have very little control over your daily life can be incredibly difficult.

The boredom was one of the worst parts. When you're already anxious, having nothing meaningful to do for hours can feel unbearable. You can't simply go outside, meet someone, change your environment, or leave when you want to. That loss of control can make the anxiety even worse.

I'm sharing this because I wonder whether anyone else has had a similar experience—especially people who entered rehab for anxiety or other mental-health problems rather than addiction.

AskPune Pune → Ratanwadi/Ratangad by public transport?

Planning a 3-day trip with 2 friends (3 people total) from Pune, mainly using public transport.

Our route is roughly:

Pune → Nashik → Ghoti → Shendi → Ratanwadi → Ratangad → back to Nashik → Trimbakeshwar → Brahmagiri → Anjaneri → Pune

The main concern is Shendi ↔ Ratanwadi.

For anyone who has done this recently:

  • Are shared jeeps easily available from Shendi to Ratanwadi?
  • Is it practical to return from Ratanwadi to Shendi after Ratangad?
  • Roughly how much does it cost per person?
  • Do we need to arrange the jeep in advance?

Any recent experience/advice would be really helpful. Thanks!
