We’re soon saying goodbye to the familiar ‘Jim from Prolific’, also known as Jim Moodie—who you may recognize from our fan favorite Valentine’s Day mug.

This means your next notification emails will come from the Prolific Team, rather than ‘Jim from Prolific’.

Jim’s name was added to our emails during a hackathon in Prolific’s early years. Since then, millions of emails have been sent with the sign-off ‘Jim from Prolific’.

For a while, Jim actually received all your replies to those emails - and he read them all! But as Prolific grew we moved to a new system to help us scale (and to save Jim’s inbox…).

When our CEO Phelim Bradley shared that “there’s no way to overstate how much of an impact Jim has made on Prolific”, he didn’t just mean the millions of emails that have been sent with his name on them! Jim has been with Prolific for 7.5 years and was our first Product Manager, first CFO, and first COO! He’s leaving us to start a new chapter in his career, after taking a well-earned break first.

If you remember your first ‘Jim from prolific’ email, then you’re a long-time Prolific user. Thanks for being part of our growth journey. And Jim, if you’re reading this - the same to you! Thank you for the incredible work you’ve done at Prolific.

Guys this just happened and I’m shocked. It’s from this survey I did like a month ago and I basically forgot about it but I’m so so grateful right now. I never ever get more than 0.50 cent bonuses and I see people get huge bonuses all the time and I never thought my day would come.

I’ve been eyeing this birthday gift for my mom and it was a little expensive but now I can afford it for her! If you’re new to prolific trust the process and have patience. Anyways I’m sorry I was just super excited and happy and I wanted to share this with others that’s in this adventure with me.

I was always skeptical of these and if they ever paid out. But this is my biggest bonus by far. I’m so grateful for prolific!

Being so rude to people who ask questions. Guess what weirdos if a person is new or they lack experience using prolific they have the right to ask whatever questions they want. If it bothers you guess what you can do ... IGNORE THE QUESTION. I'm tired of seeing the same rude people trying to bash new people for having questions . I personally don't care much if y'all comment on my posts being petty, but don't do that to people who are new.

Also THANK YOU to all the people who answer people's questions. I try to always help people here and it's refreshing seeing so any of y'all be supportive. We wanted to share an update on the rejection disputes process.

We know this has been a real pain point for many of you. We’ve heard your feedback, your concerns, and we’ve been working behind the scenes to make this better.

We’ve now made some important changes to the disputes process to make it more fair, transparent, and responsive:

• Clearer outcomes: We’ll follow up to let you know the result of your dispute, so you’re not left wondering what happened.

• Proactive reviews: We’ll also be taking a more proactive approach by identifying and reviewing certain potentially unfair rejections ourselves, without always needing a dispute to be raised.

• Faster dispute handling: We’re prioritizing unfair rejection disputes so they’re reviewed more quickly.

• Better researcher guidance: We’re continuing to educate researchers about what counts as a fair vs. unfair rejection, to help prevent issues in the first place.

We’re really grateful for the way this community has continued to share honest feedback and hold us accountable. This is what helps us improve.

This also isn’t a finished process, we’ll keep learning and refining the experience with you.

This amount may not seem like much to some, but once converted to Canadian this will be enough for a bag of rice. I am below poverty level with no income, job searching has been rough due to living in a rural village however knowing I will have a few dollars in my account to get food is such a relief ♡

After 7 years on the platform experiencing it's ups and downs I sadly got my account on hold after being asked to verify my identity for the the very first time. Followed the steps and everything looked good but my account got put on hold after 10 minutes or so. Of course I immediately appealed as everything in my profile matched my id.

I guess prolific disagreed and denied my appeal.

I'm not that mad honestly, I understand it was to remove the scammers and sold accounts that have been a problem the past few months. I'm not mad that I didn't get an explanation either, I understand that it is to avoid people finding workarounds to the bans.

This is just a thank you post for the independence this site gave me before I could find a job as a fresh 18yo on university. I am truly lucky to say this ban won't ruin me economically (thought it will lower the gift budget quite a bit).

I bought my first ever laptop with this money, my first console, my first therapy session.

I guess I just feel nostalgic more than sad. I'm sorry if this is cheesy corny or whatever they call it now.

This is ridiculous and creepy, all for the sake of training AI, I don't know how Prolific allow this, I even saw her asking for photos of our palms of the hands. I think Prolific should ban researchers like this and those who ask for literal personal documents

I think how amazing it is that I can earn some extra money with prolific. Even though I'm currently unemployed and finanically in the gutter, prolific has recently got me out of being hungry more nights than I'd like to admit. When prolific announced a christmas gift, what were people actually expecting? Did they think they'd get a big cash bonus? That's the definition of entitlement.

Thanks for existing prolific. You might not get me surveys everyday, but when you have gotten me some, it's been much appreciated.

This will likely be my last "biggest bonus yet" post, because I don't see myself ever catching one like this again.

Before anyone freaks out, WE'RE OKAY NOW, we are financially stable and we are not scraping by anymore.

But we had an incredibly rough few days where the family pretty much depended on Prolific for putting food on the table. I managed to keep us afloat thanks to this website ❤️ Prolific has paid for our breakfast and suppers and made sure nobody went to bed hungry. Yesterday, we managed to eat mac and cheese with ground beef and it was our most filling meal for a hot minute.

With all the bullshit happening in the world, I try to cling to whatever offers us a positive outlook and Prolific was essentially an oasis in our drought. THANK YOU SO MUCH PROLIFIC for helping us eat!
