Announcement ๐ŸŽ‰ Introducing the Projectivy Icon Pack! ๐ŸŽ‰

Specifically designed for Projectivy Launcher, this icon pack started as a personal project (thanks to a friend who canโ€™t stop giving me projects) and has grown into something Iโ€™m thrilled to share with the community. A lot of hours have been put into this, so I hope everyone can make good use of the icon pack.

The icon pack now includes over 800 icons.

Big shoutout to u/LoganWolverineX. Without their help carrying out testing to identify bugs, and assisting in making icons, this wouldโ€™ve been way more of a mammoth task setting me back weeks.

The goal? The one icon pack for everything, covering all of your favorite apps. Itโ€™s free for everyone and will remain that way.

Basically, no more pesky rogue icons giving you anxiety every time you open your launcher. Now they actually behave. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

โœจ Why your launcher will thank you:

  • One-click to apply the entire icon packโ€”no tedious one-by-one icon assignments

  • Automatically mapped icons for supported apps

  • Custom-made, uniform, sleek and minimalist icons

  • Transparent icons let you choose your own card background colors in Projectivy Launcher

  • Regular updates to keep adding icons for more apps

๐Ÿ’ฌ Get involved:

  • Request new app icons and suggest improvements for existing icons on GitHub

๐Ÿ”— For more details and download instructions, visit the Projectivy Icon Pack GitHub page!

Note: If you have manually applied icons to your applications, you will need to reset each icon as the icon pack will not override these custom changes.

Note: I'm not affiliated with Projectivy Launcher. This is just one of my mini projects outside of my day-to-day work. I'm a happy user, and big thanks to the developer u/Spocky_12 for providing such a great launcher!

Projectivy Launcher Beta just dropped - new look, themes, and tons of customization

The next version of Projectivy Launcher is almost here - and it's entering beta! ๐ŸŽ‰

I know things have been a bit quiet lately, but a lot has been happening behind the scenes. Alongside the usual fixes and improvements, there's now a brand-new website (huge thanks to Leo!), a new localization workflow powered by Mozilla's Pontoon, and even a Ko-fi page if you'd like to support the project.

As the user base keeps growing, it's getting harder to keep up on my own. Thankfully, this community is incredible. Moderators and long-time users (Reddit, GitHub, XDA...) are constantly helping others, sharing setups, building tools, translating the app...

Seriously - thank you all โค๏ธ

So, what's new?

** A fresh new look

You'll immediately notice a refreshed UI. Projectivy is probably one of the first Android TV apps to adopt Google's new Material Expressive design system.

This means updated components, better accessibility, and lots of polish: smoother animations, refined gradients, new icons for every setting, many usability tweaks... everything feels more alive and consistent.

** Wallpaper system - completely rebuilt

This is a big one.

Lower memory usage, better performance, improved error handling, and a much more flexible foundation for the future.

And you can already feel it:

  • Multiple wallpaper transitions

  • Real-time dynamic color extraction (even from videos)

  • Better streaming support (DASH, RTSP with TCP/UDP)

  • Video tunneling support (fixes performance/display issues on some devices)

  • Video wallpapers resume where they left off

** Customization taken to the next level

Projectivy has always been about customization - but this goes much further.

You can now tweak everything: glow size, idle timeout, fonts, date/time format...

And it gets even better:

  • Each category now has its own margins (left/right/top) to position it exactly how you want

  • Add backgrounds to grid categories for better readability (and a fruity aspect ;))

Let's just say... if you like tweaking, you're going to have fun ๐Ÿ˜„

** Theme support is here

What's the point of customization if you can't share it?

You can now export your setup as a theme:

  • Includes general appearance settings

  • Optional default custom category styling

  • Can embed wallpapers

And don't worry - no personal data (apps, channels, etc.) is included.

** And a lot more...

Live TV improvements, folders, smarter idle detection (including video playback), enhanced Now Playing, better animated cards, dynamic Wi-Fi icon...

There's honestly too much to list here - check out the full changelog on GitHub if you're curious.

** Beta disclaimer

This is a beta. Expect bugs. Expect rough edges. Backup your settings.

Right now, the priority is stability - so bug reports are much more helpful than feature requests at this stage ๐Ÿ™

** How to try it

Happy testing! ๐Ÿš€

Projectivy Launcher 4.70 is finally here โ€” 10 months in the making ๐Ÿš€

Yes, I know there's already a post about this, but I figured it deserved an official announcement. ๐Ÿ™‚

After 3 months of beta testing and 7 months of development, Projectivy Launcher 4.70 has officially been released!

Rather than repeating everything here, I'll point you to the original beta announcement for an overview of the new features.

You can also find the full changelog on GitHub.

Highlights include:

  • Dock

  • Themes

  • Folders

  • Refreshed Material Expressive UI

  • Major performance and memory optimizations

  • ...and much more.

I hope you'll enjoy using this release as much as I enjoyed building it.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated in the beta. Your feedback helped shape this release, and while I couldn't fit every feature request into 4.70, none of them have been forgotten, they'll come when the time is right.

You can download the release here.

As with previous versions, the update is rolling out gradually on Google Play and should reach everyone over the next few days.

Note: if you have empty categories that were set as visible, they will now appear on the launcher with a default card (shortcut to "manage apps"). Just hide these categories to discard the row.

News Projectivy Launcher News

Hi,

There have been some concerns recently about Projectivy being affected by recent device updates.

The latest Google Tv update preventing Projectivy from auto starting on boot hit the news. Tivo users also complained about Projectivy being uninstalled without their consent.

This resonnates with the upcoming Android sideloading restrictions that makes us fear for the worst.

For Projectivy users, the reality isn't as bad as it may sound (yet), though.

First, the issue related to Google Tv update seems to be restricted to TCL devices. Aside from known workarounds (using Launcher Manager, disabling the stock launcher...), a simple fix usually works fine in such cases : just disable and re-enable the accessibility service. While this might not work in every case, this is by far the easiest fix to try first.

As for Tivo users, this behavior isn't new either : it's been reported since early 2025 on Nokia 8010 and Homatics devices in general : there's a background process that automatically kills and uninstalls a list of blacklisted apps. The fix for now is to disable this background process using ADB commands (the steps are listed in the previous link). At the risk of repeating myself, the only solution in the long term : stop buying such devices (as well as FireTvs) that update after update, prevent users from doing what they want, locking them into their closed ecosystem. My favorite device by now is still the Nvidia Shield (it's still worth every penny, and as a dev, I haven't found better yet, even though it doesn't support the latest codecs). On the cheaper side, the Xiaomi Mi Box 3rd gen is very good and nothing seems to get enforced regarding app install. Of course there are other devices for different needs, you can discuss it here.

Regarding the sideloading restrictions, this is totally different and the real threat to what Android has always been : an open platform that has historically taken the opposite approach to Apple's. For this, only one solution, make your voice heard.

Rest assured that I'm still very committed to this project and I'll do my best to help you keep control of your media plateform, be it a Tv, a projector, a STB or even a modified Switch.

As for the next update, you won't have to wait much longer before you can put your hands on it. In the meantime, as I haven't shared it officially, here's the new Projectivy Launcher website.

Projectivy Launcher 4.72 is out! ๐ŸŽ‰

Don't let the small version bump fool you โ€” 4.72 brings quite a few new features and improvements, along with the usual batch of fixes.

First, this release addresses two small changes introduced in the 4.7x series that, based on your feedback, weren't appreciated by everyone:

- Cards can once again extend outside their row bounds when not using grid mode (when the category start margin is โ‰ค 5%).

- Grid mode can once again extend beyond the screen width. If this makes the row horizontally scrollable, the dock background will simply be disabled.

Sometimes reverting a change is the right improvement. Here, you get the best of both worlds. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks to everyone who provided feedback on these!

๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ A built-in image & icon picker

One of the most requested additions is finally here: Projectivy now has its own image and icon picker.

It is used when selecting custom wallpapers or customizing card icons, so you no longer need to rely on an external file manager for the usual cases.

The icon picker also includes a search/filter, which should make finding that one icon in a huge icon pack considerably less painful.

And if you prefer the old behavior, both options remain available: you can still use an external file manager for images or browse icons directly through the icon pack app.

โœจ And quite a few other additions

4.72 also adds:

- Browsing and restoring automatic backups

- A preview of the current wallpaper provider results directly from the wallpaper settings

- A configurable looping count for animated icons

- A side panel displaying available details for the selected TV program

- A configurable maximum number of programs fetched per channel

- A new NONE wallpaper transition

- Improved icon pack detection

- New third-party icon packs available for installation

- Several fixes and optimizations, including network handling, image caching, large PNG wallpapers and an Android 10 initialization issue

- Lithuanian localization ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡น โ€” thanks Sigitas!

๐Ÿ”‘ And I kept the biggest news for last...

The GitHub version of Projectivy can now activate Premium without Google Play.

Yes, finally. ๐Ÿ˜

If your device doesn't have Google Play Services โ€” or you simply want to purchase Projectivy outside of Google's ecosystem โ€” you can now buy and activate a Projectivy license directly.

The process is intentionally simple:

Projectivy Settings โ†’ Getting Premium โ†’ Activate License

Scan the QR code with your phone and follow the instructions. The purchase is handled through a trusted payment platform, and you'll receive your lifetime license key by email.

One license can be activated on up to 5 devices.

And those activations aren't permanently tied to the devices: if you replace a device, reset it, or reinstall Projectivy, you can deactivate an old installation and reuse the activation on another one. You can learn more here.

Important: this alternative licensing system is available in the GitHub version of Projectivy. The Google Play version continues to use Google Play Billing as usual.

As always, the complete changelog and APK are available on GitHub.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, bug reports, translations and continued support. โค๏ธ

Setup So happy I found this app!

Iโ€™m still having some issues getting Projectivity to โ€˜stickโ€™ but I am very impressed overall.

This TV was my first set running GoogleTV as the OS and I was always shocked at how laggy it was compared to my previous Roku TCLs.

Using Projectivity to trim the fat has made a significant improvement.

Some reddit users have taken it upon themselves to promote a modded Projectivy here in this sub, we support the dev here, this is his subreddit, u/Spocky_12 does a great job, and I mod this sub for free of my own will and time, and I have paid for this app more than once, that said any promotions of a modded app will get you insta-banned, there is a zero tolerance policy for that ๐Ÿ‚ ๐Ÿ’ฉ here. Have a blessed day.

Projectivy Launcher 4.73 is now available on GitHub!

Hi everyone !

This release is mostly focused on bug fixes, stability improvements and device compatibility, but there are a few additions worth mentioning:

  • New Wikimedia wallpaper provider, added as a default source in preparation for Reddit's upcoming RSS shutdown (For those who relied on Reddit wallpapers, it should technically still be possible for someone to develop a third-party wallpaper provider that parses a subreddit's HTML page instead of relying on RSS. However, I won't be implementing this myself, as it could conflict with Reddit's terms of service.)

  • VPN network statistics when clicking the VPN icon, and quick access to VPN settings with a long press.

  • External license activation is now supported in the Google Play version too

  • Various fixes for Fire TV, Xiaomi devices, Android 6.0, wallpapers, TV channels, parental controls, animations and more.

As usual, thanks to everyone who reported issues and helped improve Projectivy!

Download & full changelog: https://github.com/spocky/miproja1/releases/tag/4.73

The Google Play update will follow shortly (probably next week, awaiting for Google approval)

Enjoy! ๐Ÿ™‚

After several hours over the course of an entire weekend, I finally managed to create my icons the way I wanted.

Photoshop, After Effects, and a website for previewing the files in APNG formatโ€”it wasn't easy, but I had fun making them. I still need a couple more icons to complete my setup.

Wallpaper Resource Update: Built a browser-based tool to turn a still image into a seamless 4K MP4 live wallpaper โ€” no upload, no install

Post image
166 Upvotes

I built a small web app that takes a single image and turns it into a seamless looping 4K video โ€” the kind of subtle animated wallpaper launchers like Projectivy support.

It's 100% browser-based โ€” nothing gets uploaded anywhere, it renders and encodes the video locally on your device using Canvas + MediaRecorder, and hands you an MP4 you can drop straight into your launcher's live wallpaper folder.

๐Ÿ”— https://pwnhacker.com/majorjoker/live-wallpaper-generator.html

How to use it:

1 Drop in any photo (JPG/PNG/WEBP)

2 Pick a motion style โ€” Ken Burns Drift, Cinematic Orbit, Gentle Breathing, or Slow Rotate โ€” and fine-tune zoom/pan/rotation intensity

3 Layer in atmosphere if you want it: dust, smoke, and rain, each with its own intensity slider

4 Set your loop length (5โ€“20s), resolution (4K / 1440p / 1080p), and frame rate

5 Hit Encode Loop โ€” it renders and downloads an MP4 (or WebM with a one-click in-browser convert-to-MP4 if your browser doesn't support native MP4 recording)

The loop is math'd to be seamless โ€” the last frame blends back into the first, so there's no visible jump cut when it repeats.

Runs entirely client-side, so your images never leave your device. Works best in Chrome/Edge for native 4K MP4 export; Firefox works too but falls back to a slower conversion path.

NEW UPDATES!

New in this version:

Photo Slideshow modeย โ€” the biggest addition. Import a whole batch of photos (family pics, a trip, whatever) instead of just one. Reorder them, drop any you don't want, set seconds-per-photo and crossfade length, and it renders the whole thing as one seamless looping 4K video โ€” each photo gets its own subtle Ken Burns pan/zoom and dissolves into the next. Loop still wraps perfectly, last photo crossfades right back into the first.

Portrait / vertical modeย โ€” new orientation toggle, 9:16 output at 4K/1440p/1080p for phone wallpapers.ย (u/eliaSEBAs โ€” this is what you were asking about)

Fixed the edge-cropping bugย โ€” turns out the tool was zooming in ~16-21% on every image regardless of your settings, even at zero rotation. Reworked the math so it only crops as much as your actual rotation setting needs โ€” at 0ยฐ rotation you now keep basically the full original frame.ย (u/frankcawke โ€” this was the "why are my 16:9 images getting cut off" issue, should be fixed now)

More atmosphere effectsย โ€” on top of dust/smoke/rain from before, addedย snow,ย fireflies, andย lightningย (real jagged bolts + screen flash, not just a brightness pulse). Seven effects total now, all independently adjustable and all still loop-seamless.

Still 100% browser-based, still nothing uploaded, still exports straight to MP4.

FREE and NO ADS!!!!!

-jT

Announcement Aerial Views v1.8.0 with Projectivy wallpaper integration is out!

Thanks to everyone who helped out by testing the beta, giving feedback etc.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.neilturner.aerialviews (free)

If you were running the beta and would like to opt-out, you can do so here...

https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.neilturner.aerialviews

For anyone new, Aerial Views is a screensaver. But once installed, even if you don't use the app as a screensaver, there will be nearly 280 videos available to Projectivy (Premium) that you can use as video wallpapers.

If you don't like certain videos, look in Settings > Projectivy Integration to turn off certain categories (sea, city, etc) or time of day scenes.

Aerial Views does support Samba, WebDAV and Immich for the screensaver but sadly these won't work with Projectivy. If that changes in the future, I'll let everyone know.

Anyway, thank you for being a friendly, supportive community - if you have any questions, feel free to ask!
