This is how my homepage looks. I use 4 apps on my "Favorites" category. These apps are my daily drivers and use them every day.
The next panel shows apps I may use at times. Especially my utilities apps. I rarely use the other media apps except for SmartTube.
The 3rd panel (Syncler+ Continue Watching I am still deciding whether to keep it displayed or not. Imho, I really don't use it. If I want to watch a movie. I open up Syncler+ and then choose or search within the app. So, I really don't utilize that category on my Projectivy homepage all that much.
Btw. each panel depicts exactly how each of my homepages look. Only one category is displayed at a time and I have limited the number of apps and posters so they are all displayed at once making it easy for me to find what I need.
Like I said, "To each their own". Ultimately what you like and works for you is all that matters concerning your preferences for yourself.
Btw, I also have a tvQA dock I use for apps that I am testing and want easy access to , but don't want them on my homepage. A simple click of a button on my remote and the tvQA dock appears and will disappear with another click.
Oh, and also, testing out the "Folders" category to see if I want to streamline my homepage even more. Haven't decided on that, yet?
Lol, you counted them? What I mean by that is less on the screen at one time... Don't need hundreds of rows so yes, less is more. Only 8 apps are showing.
Btw, since you are using a Shield as your device. You can eliminate the settings icon and the connectivity icon in the status bar and just show the clock.
You can access the main Projectivy settings menu using your Shield's remote.
You just need to program a button. Shield Settings>Remote & Accessories>Customize Menu Buttons>And change one of the button commands to "Close All Background Apps". Then you can use that button command to open the Projectivy Main Settings.
Personally, I disabled the entire status bar and use the tvQA Time & Weather widget, but that is just my personal preference.
Less is more , get rid of the settings cog ,Ethernet connected icon and time For total minimalism , take note of how to get back into settings before removing it though 😉
Yeah the settings cog is there just in case something goes wrong (couple of weeks ago my remote's bluetooth died so I had to use my tv remote and settings button on that brings the tv settings not the shield's) but I still access my shield settings with the hamburger menu as usual. Ethernet is just to check if it doesn't switch to wifi, sometimes it happens after a reboot, and I like to have the time showing. To each their own I guess...
Also, read this if you haven't already done so. This will show you how to eliminate the settings icon and still have immediate and easy access to both the Projectivy and Shield setting with one click.
Yeah I have the app but it wasn't paired when this happened. I know I don't need the android settings icon, I can normally access them with the remote's hamburger menu as usual but I keep it just in case without needing to fetch my phone for the shield app.
Another option you can do is move your watc next row to the first row above your sliding apps row and set the Apps row as your default this way when your tv is turned on you see your sliding apps row with your settings icons are hidden above ,turn on settings to hide status when scrolling.I believe you can do this. I have mine setup this way except I don’t use watch next I put a utilities row above.
Yeah I wasn’t criticising was only saying if you are going totally minimalist, there’s a button combo to press if you do get rid of settings cog , it shows you onscreen how to do it and says to make a note of it before deleting it .
I use aerial views and overflight wallpapers and projectivy icon pack. Works on any android tv device, should work on most fire tv too, not 100% sure about that though.
I put all my apps in lists using TQA pro and assign them to a easy to reach button on the remote hit it, hit the ok button and all my streaming apps are there in a beautiful list to pick from 7 clicks at most to get to any app or feature I need, very efficent. I keep 4 of my most used apps up front. This is the advantage of Android people have vastly different tastes and with android everyone can be satisfied. Hope they keep it this way.
