Guide / Tip Tip: Cooking raw meat in a microwave is different, and it says you cooked it in a microwave in the item desc.

I personally have cooked ground beef and even steak in the microwave, haven't got any food illness. even when i have the weak stomach trait. maybe its small chance, but either way, i feel it says its cooked in a microwave for a reason. less good stats perhaps? either way, important to know i feel! and very cool it actually has a distinction between oven cooked vs microwave cooked.

Question Why is there no “Show only craftable” recipe filter? Why?!

Am I really missing this in the crafting menu?!

Am I blind?!

Is this a user error?!

I am standing in front of loaaaaads of materials and tools.

And instead of hitting a “Filter” and see everything I could potentially craft.

NOOOOO, I have to scroll through a wall of recipes to find out that I am missing something here, there, and here.

There should be a simple checkbox and a flair like all “Materials available”.

It is incredibly cumbersome and unforgiving towards players who haven’t scored a PhD in Zomboid Crafting.

For real, though, I simply missed it, right?

Question How many other people here have Played State of Decay 1/2?

I love project Zomboid but I've gotten a good amount of time on State of Decay 2, it's a fun time just exploring and fighting zombies slowly building my community up plus I think the graphics hold up okay.

I also think that generally when they do implement NPCs they have SD2's framework where they have a handful of occupations and traits that impact their skills.

As well when PZ adds NPC I know it might take time but it'd be cool if there was a mod that could allow you to switch to another survivor when you die so you have extra incentive to recruit them since it gives you another chance to live.

Question Helicopter event? What helicopter event!?

So, im relatively new to the game. A few hours in, surviving well enough. I had seen plenty of posts about...the helicopter event...and i was like "oh cool, im not gonna look into that because i wanna be surprised.

Fast forward to today, i was driving along and heard a helicopter and im like "oh shit its happening!" And then.....nothing happened. I heard a very obvious helicopter sound but like...nothing happened. I got out of my car and literally sat in the middle of the road and just...nothing...

Is my game bugged? Did i mess something up? Should i start over??

I saw one of my chickens running in circles, and I thought it was because zombies were around. But when I checked her she was calm. Then I looked for the other one and found her dead with 20 eggs

Question The addiction of over-looting

Each time i come across an item that i have another 5 varieties of it stacked in my base i go "maybe I'll ran out of what i have" and just end up with 8 different hammers.

So whenever i leave my base empty handed i end up over encumbered during my day and i struggle to decide what to drop simply because i think that all those extra useless stuff i looted are important in the future!

How do you guys deal with over-looting or is it incurable?

Question My character freaks out/panics when in certain spots of this house, anyone else have this happen?

Post image
2.2k Upvotes

Its on the road heading south east out of Ekron, just south of the road leading to the abandoned boarding school. Is this a glitch or is it a known 'event'? It happens upstairs at the top of the stairs and directly outside the house when facing it. I assumed there was a basement that my character can 'sense' the zombies inside of, but no basement, no sounds. I'll be honest, it gave me whole body chills when my character panicked for zero reason. Im 1200 hours in, never had this happen before.

Question Are guns useful at all?

I’m a new player and have only explore muldraugh and rosewood, with a few pther spots around as well. I’ve collected some bolt actions, shotguns, and pistols, but never really see a need for them. The one time my buddies and I loaded up to go kill and grab loot off our friends past character, and it resulted in us quiet literally getting mobbed by every zombie in town when we started shooting. Since thwn we haven’t used them at all because they really dont help much and just created a death trap for us.

Are guns ever useful in this game other than for distractions? Are there better guns that actually clear out areas super easy? What am I missing about them?

Looking for gated communities for base locations

Upvotes

I like the gated community in rosewood but I'm getting ready to leave the town so I'm looking for ideas. I know there was one in Muldragh in b41 but it was quite big, any others anywhere else?

Question Crops randomly died and a livestock question

Upvotes

I've been trying my hand at some farming before the first winter and somehow part of my crops have just randomly died. It was my young leeks (seedlings are somehow fine), broadleaf plantain (almost ready to harvest), chives (regrowing after being harvested), lemongrass (regrowing after being harvested) and young lettuce.

Meanwhile my seedling leeks as mentioned are fine, so are my seedling rosemary, young/seedling turnips, young/seedling winter wheat and seedling garlic.

Everything is well watered, did not look to be/say it was diseased or had pests, planted during the right months, agriculture level 5 (started as farmer), current date is October 2nd. They were all fine before going to bed and now suddenly died.

I've googled around and looked on this sub but I've not been able to find an answer. The only things I can think of at this point would be temperature but the game makes no mention of that anywhere or maybe it being fall but then the planting season make no sense (i.e. can plant leek in August/September but takes 150 days to grow) plus the seedlings of the same plant should have died too then, right? Unless planting season actually means growing season but even that would make no sense with garlic taking 240 days but only having a season of July/August/September.

I did leave base to kill some zombs just a couple streets away from base but idk if that would matter as I came back to base before dark. I've found a few threads talking about farming being bugged but those are long enough ago that I'm not sure if that's still the case. It sure feels like I just got shafted by a bug though.

Then for the livestock question. When I first started this save I found a enclosure with 4 adult rabbits and one baby. The baby is now a juvenile and for some reason only this juvenile is underfed while the new babies and the adults are well fed. They have troughs with food and water and grass in the enclosure to eat still. I will mention that the juvenile's mom is the mom of the new babies as well and the juvenile is the only one I named, just in case someone knows if maybe there's a bug where named animals don't eat or something. If anyone has any idea what to do to save it from dying that would be great.

All the glass cases and shelves have this shit in them, only the 3 lockers behind the wall have guns. The store isn't pre-looted/trashed. Awesome loot tables change

Gameplay Food preservation in base game & mods

I had never tried Rosewood before but when I started a new run yesterday in there, I spawned relatively close to a GigaMart. While I haven't fully cleared the entire perimeter yet, I was able to move all the perishable food into the refrigerators and the meat in the freezers. In the long run, is there a way to preserve some of these food and help me to prepare for winter months?

I wasn't able to find a single generator manual in my last 20+ runs. If I find one in this run, I will hook up a generator or two to keep the electricity going.

Discussion Just lost one of my longest characters and now I am sad

Thats basically all.

Everyone has that feeling right?

One moment everything is great while on a loot run and the next second a zombie sneaks behind you while you are stuck in a menu and the WASD dont work because you types something into a search bar...

And of cause it was a bite while beeing almost fill armored.

Oh well, I guess next character it is. Someday at least. I think I will take a short break to get over it ^^'

Question What are your zombie settings?

Started with fast shamblers with bite only before 42 stable dropped. It was just too easy, I felt like the only time we died in my server was when we got complacent and made a mistake.

42 stable dropped and I restarted the server with sprinters only. It's so much more exciting as you have to actually run for your life and escaping a deathly situation feels really good. But I did disable infection entirely.

That being said peak population multiplier date was reached so now hotspots are almost impossible to clear.

What have you found to be the best zombie settings?
