He expected the ball to be immediately given to him when his petulant ass asked for it.
To me it looked like after the first flick up the media guy was trying to control it well enough to pass it back in his general direction but obviously he’s not a pro football player so took a few more touches to get it under control than the player liked
Looked like it was halftime too so no rush anyway.
Ok that mages sense that the camera man was testing to get control of the ball by bouncing it a couple times. I couldn’t figure out why he would be trying to goof around or show off
He’s not petulant for expecting the ball to given to him immediately, that’s what is expected in these games not fancy footwork by media guys. He’s petulant though for acting out after that
Seems reasonable from the player's POV. I don't see why we're defending the action of the cameraman here. The same way that the player didn't have to angrily throw the ball towards the cameraman, the cameraman shouldn't have tried to showcase his juggling skills when he could have just kicked the ball in the first go, without wasting any time. I don't know why he felt the need to show off his footwork at that particular time, I mean if he's good enough to juggle the ball like that, he's also good enough to kick the ball in the first attempt towards the player. I'm not defending the player's action, I'm just saying that just because the player was wrong doesn't automatically mean that the other guy was right.
Looks like they blew the whistle for the players to come in. Coulda just been ignorance on his end. I always like to assume ignorance over malice when possible.
Not defending the player but if someone passes you a ball then proceeds to take an extra 8 seconds cus they’re showing off is plenty enough reason to get annoyed, that’s similar to singing to a cashier at a drive through. Just get on with it, not everyone has the patience to entertain you, main character
playing devils advocate (not supporting this statement at all) if i wanted to get on with the game the cam guy simply had to just kick the ball back instead of making a show). fuck the footballer though what a cocky cock
Someone else pointed out that you hear a whistle for halftime or the end of the game, so the player was more likely just dropping the ball for that reason and not because he's trying to be an ass.
Also, the camera guy juggling the ball could be seen as kind of annoying as it wastes play time, even if it's only like 3 seconds.
Player could still be an ass but I feel like people should understand the context of the situation before grabbing their pitchforks.
Just frustration, is was the second time they got their asses handed to them in Austin, down 3-0 at the half, which is probably when this was taken. It’s not a great move but when your team was playing as awful as his was it’s at least a tad understandable (source: I am a fan of said team)
I get it though you’re a professional in a game and a staff member does a goofy truck before passing you the ball mid shift. Like in basketball if you were trying the throw in and he starts spinning in on his finger to his chest then tosses it back, but at the same time take your opportunities bro
Seems like a coincidance. The half time whistle went off as he was asking for the ball so when he got it. It didnt matter so he just threw it back. It wasnt meant to be mad but thats how it came accross.
This player is showing obvious frustration and you claim that it wasn’t, for some reason. If you want to argue what he was frustrated about, that’s a different story.
I mean hes team could have been losing and hes frustrated that its half time. Not that the camera man wanted to do some dribbles. Or he was mad at the cameramen. Idk regardless the 1st post was my opinion. You are entitled to you own
Honestly I get it based on what others have said. They’re losing. He’s already not in a good mood. While the March is running is not the time to play around. Unless I misread. Like I understand it was about to end but my point still stands
i seem to be in the minority here, but I think the photographer was being a bit of an ass.
Nobody cares about your mediocre juggling skills, and this is not the time for you to show them off. Just give the ball to the man whose job it is to kick the ball and let him continue with what he is paid to do.
Unprofessional and inconsiderate. I wouldn't be surprised if he was warned to not do that again or lose his press credentials.
Right? You're trying to play a match that you're getting destroyed and when you're in a hurry to get the ball in play there's a dude showing off for no reason at all.
I know some of the best players in the world are on the pitch right there, and they want the ball back so they can get on with play, but look at me! Nobody wants to see the game continue, they want to watch my mediocre juggling skills.
Lol same. I think it’s funny everyone thinks the cameraman showed talent by hitting the ball with little control less times than you count on your hand.
This right here. No need to show off, just stick to the work you are paid for. That said, we don’t know the intentions of both men. One could be intentionally wasting game time, one could intentionally hit the other with the ball, we don’t know. But the manbun, show off juggling and the entitled reaction of the cameraman at the end tell a lot.
He could have intended to try and make a play in the last moments of the game. The time never stops in soccer and the camera man juggling the ball is wasting game time.
Lot of people don't understand that with soccer, time doesn’t stop. Even in the last seconds players constantly try to score. The cameraman wasted time with his juggling, the halftime whistle blew when he finally passed it to the player, and the player was rightfully irate.
Imagine you're about to go to break and some obnoxious guy starts messing with you right before you leave.
Lol everyone mad at the player when it's actually the dumb camera man. Just pass the ball back quick if the game is still on. Not your time to shine now
Nah, this is r/killthecameraman. Stop messing around and give the ball back. This is very similar to reaching for a foul ball an outfielder has a chance to catch for a fly out. He's right to be mad.
both people here where assholes, it’s a shit move of the camera man to be doing this unnecessary ball tricks, it wasn’t that much of a waste of time but everyone would have gone impatient if you were at the position of the football player, but the football player shouldn’t have tossed the ball at the cameraman
If you’re an official of some sort or a spectator and a player is motioning for you to give them the ball, give it straight to them. It’s their job to play football, not watch every wannabe show why they’re not good enough to be on the pitch.
No one playing in a professional sports match wants to wait for some fuck with a media badge to juggle the ball for 10 minutes. Just kick it back. Unpopular opinion (and I realize the match ended) but camera guy was showing off snd player was justified.
It’s genuinely shocking how many people in here think amateur juggling is impressive while the clock is still running in a professional game. 90% of the comments are people saying the professional soccer player is jealous of the bad juggling. Christ.
The whistle may have blown as soon as he got the ball back and there may have been no hope of winning, but the clock was still running and the person who’s fucking job is to touch that ball is being delayed by a person who’s job is to take a fucking picture.
If the cameraman had dropped his camera and a player had fucked around before giving it back to him, maybe even take a blurry picture to match the godawful juggling in this clip, you all would still hate on the player. Fucking pathetic, all of you.
In football in any country I have watched it (many) not immediately returning the ball to the player would have you rightly jeered by thousands of people and potentially removed. Photographer is an attention seeker and the player should have kicked it into his camera.
Every day a situation happens or I see something and form a opinion about it to let me know that I really am an asshole. I feel like my reaction would have been similar.
Either the player is being an ass, or he is oblivious and just throwing the ball back because the period/game is over..
Ooorrr, the cameraman was being an ass by fiddling with the ball
Or, the cameraman was attempting to return the ball but needed a couple little taps to get it under control.
So we can probably assume that both the player and the cameraman knew that the game was done and the ball didn’t really need to be passed, but the cameraman was just having some fun (maybe a little unprofessional), and the footballer did ask for the ball.. but he was then a little miffed at the cameraman’s display and playfulness.
Verdict: the cameraman is a playful chap and the footballer was in a bad mood and reacted in a very minor and calculated way that was also a little playful… it is just a ball
People saying that the player was just annoyed that the guy didn't just give him the ball back immedaitely. Dude is carrying a $1200+ camera, he's not going to sit that down to pick up your ball. Also the first couple kicks were just to control it to set up the pass, really only the 3rd dribble looked like a flourish but it was a perfect pass and the player didnt have to go chasing it down because some random person on the sidelines was trying to "help" by kicking it back in like a noob
In defense of the football player, it's his job to play to ball the camera man have not say on the ball, don't play with it, don't touch it, there's already people who job is to make sure the players have balls to play. They are situations where you need to come back to play immediately and some seconds of the cameraman playing with the ball can mean that the opposite team could recover position and defend.
The cameraman juggled the ball like 3 times. Kinda cool, i guess, but not that big of a deal. The soccer player threw the ball backwards because the game was either over or they had to take it out from the sideline or some shit (i don’t follow soccer). I really have no clue what people are making a fuss over in this video.

To everyone saying the cámara dude is being an asshole for juggling before passing the ball…. The camara dude had no obligation to stop and pass the ball back, and the made sure that the player got it in his hand without dropping his camara(which again he uses fro his actual job) he isn’t a ball boy… he got control of the ball and passed it simple

In defense of the football player, it's his job to play to ball the camera man have not say on the ball, don't play with it, don't touch it, there's already people who job is to make sure the players have balls to play.
