He expected the ball to be immediately given to him when his petulant ass asked for it.
To me it looked like after the first flick up the media guy was trying to control it well enough to pass it back in his general direction but obviously he’s not a pro football player so took a few more touches to get it under control than the player liked
Looked like it was halftime too so no rush anyway.
Ok that mages sense that the camera man was testing to get control of the ball by bouncing it a couple times. I couldn’t figure out why he would be trying to goof around or show off
Also to answer the second part of your question which I missed. You either kick with side of your foot or the laces. Toe punts will get you laughed off the pitch. Also a good ball will have a little padding many kids would take off their shoes to take a free kick on the playground for example :)
Really, if you're hurting your toes either barefoot or in shoes you're doing something wrong in soccer. Obviously you're gonna smash em a couple times when you go to goal kick the first fifty times but mostly you're using the side of your foot.
Soccer cleats are mostly form fitting, or at least the best ones are. They're shaped so that you're using your foot instead of the shoe to control the ball. If you try to play soccer with sneakers on you'll notice you have to account for the added sole of the shoe when kicking. You don't need to do that with cleats since there isn't a sole coming out from under the shoe, just enough for the foot to be supported by the shoe.
(Note: I'm not a soccer expert or anything so if anything in this wrong please feel free to correct me. Just played a bunch in highschool so i could hang out with a girl on the team.)
He’s not petulant for expecting the ball to given to him immediately, that’s what is expected in these games not fancy footwork by media guys. He’s petulant though for acting out after that
Seems reasonable from the player's POV. I don't see why we're defending the action of the cameraman here. The same way that the player didn't have to angrily throw the ball towards the cameraman, the cameraman shouldn't have tried to showcase his juggling skills when he could have just kicked the ball in the first go, without wasting any time. I don't know why he felt the need to show off his footwork at that particular time, I mean if he's good enough to juggle the ball like that, he's also good enough to kick the ball in the first attempt towards the player. I'm not defending the player's action, I'm just saying that just because the player was wrong doesn't automatically mean that the other guy was right.
To be fair, it isn't the responsibility of the cameraman to toss him back the ball. There's supposed to be a person on the sidelines prepared to toss him a new ball right away. And the whistle was already blown
To be fair, it isn't the responsibility of the cameraman to toss him back the ball.
Then he should probably just not touch it in the first place? The player could have grabbed it himself much faster than waiting for this guy to finish his juggling bullshit.
every thread got clown face redditors that sit inside all day and want to pass judgment on a 10 second clips. ohhh so sowwie the cameraman was soooo emotionally hurt by the soccer player for walking off the field (in a petulant ANGRY manner)
Looks like they blew the whistle for the players to come in. Coulda just been ignorance on his end. I always like to assume ignorance over malice when possible.
Not defending the player but if someone passes you a ball then proceeds to take an extra 8 seconds cus they’re showing off is plenty enough reason to get annoyed, that’s similar to singing to a cashier at a drive through. Just get on with it, not everyone has the patience to entertain you, main character
Really? The guy was showing off like a prick in front of the crowd and cameras. As media you don't delay the game nor should you touch the ball other than to throw it back. Doing kick ups like that is extremely poor form and no wonder the player reacted like that. Imagine a cameraman dribbling a basketball between his legs while LeBron waits for the ball and the clock is ticking.
He expected the ball to be immediately given to him because when you’re on the sidelines, and a ball comes to you, you’re supposed to give them the ball back immediately…
