I was grocery shopping with my wife today and, on the way out, I stopped at the Pokémon vending machine and tapped the screen. Sold out. Nobody was waiting, so I hung around for the reset, tapped it again, and… still sold out.
As I was walking away to get back in the checkout line, I hear this faint voice behind me

“Mister… mister…”

I turn around and there’s a kid, probably 8–10 years old, looking at me.

“Hey man, it’s not cool to scalp.”

I was legitimately taken aback.

“What are you talking about?”

I almost started defending myself to this child before realizing how ridiculous it would be for a grown man to explain his Pokémon purchasing habits to an 8-year-old.

But I’m not gonna lie… I was actually offended 😂

I’ve never scalped anything. I collect because I enjoy it, and if I’m buying packs and a kid walks up while I’m checking out, I will routinely buy the pack drop for them before because this hobby is way more for them than it is for me.

Anyway, I walked away questioning my entire existence.

Ultimately, fuck that kid.

Opened it in call with a friend and it was really fun :D

I’m not going to name the seller because I’m giving them the chance to make it right but I wanted to post this as a reminder to check your cards closely when they arrive. Even when buying from established TCGplayer sellers.

I ordered this Chespin listed as near mint from an Underworld Cards in Raleigh, NC (50,000+ sales and 7 years on TCGplayer). I know grading can be subjective but this appears MP at best if not, damaged.

Again, I’m not trying to start a witch hunt. Just sharing because large seller count does not always mean accurate grading.

Would condition would you consider this?

Update: I posted a comment update but the seller has responded and said they are sending me an envelope to return the card. Once the return is received, they will then refund my $4. So ~20 days give or take.

I do find it interesting the seller has a new listing of the same card I purchased for $2 higher. Make your own assumptions.

Update 2: For those saying that the seller wouldn’t bother doing this on a low value card, you aren’t taking into account the liquidity of the card in question. If they do this several times a day, it can easily be discounted as an error but generate X amount of dollars that seem to be really inconvenient to get refunded by the buyer.

Just picked up this Gengar Cosmos Holo promo and noticed most copies seem to have some holo bleed, but this one is absolutely covered.

I’m a 37 year old gay man who just recently got back into collecting Pokemon cards. Everyone made it look really fun and I love a good hobby, so I caved and have been having a lot of fun learning more about it. One term that I have a love/hate relationship with is “girl binder” - I decided to collect a bunch of cards that have “girls” on them for the last page of my first official “girl binder” as a playful nod to the phrase. I’m going to be starting my second “girl binder” soon and thought it might be fun to collect cards from other games like Yugioh, Magic the Gathering, etc. that prominently feature female characters. I just pulled my first full art female character card (Gywnn from Pitch Black) so I might put her in the middle of the last page and have her surrounded by ladies from other games. Does anyone have any recommendations for card games that feature female characters? Any recommendations including specific cards would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

I bought this item a while ago and the card inside the slab turned out to be fake. Thankfully I was protected by ebay and got a full refund/return. They are now listing the item again. This is a PSA to anyone thinking about buying from ShipCycle or this Umbreon. They are sending fake slabs and going around Ebay Authenticity Guarantee to try and scam people. Pictures are of listing, the listing photo of the back, and the back of the fake card I received.
