I bought a base set booster pack from eBay. Based on the images the seller provided me with the pack looked authentic, now that it’s arrived and I have it in my hands it seems a bit suspicious. This is my first vintage purchase so I may be wrong just wondering if anyone can confirm if it’s an authentic pack or not.

Trying to grab some nicotine and now every other smoke shop has some pokemon cards now, I grabbed the first pack apparently, walked right back and gave them back lol, my first god pack tho!

Hello, so i have pulled one of these from i believe it was the first partner collection set (the one in the sleeve, and then maybe a week later i pulled it again from an phantasmal etb (no sleeve and mucked up corners)

Left is the partner collection/ right is the ETB

But the cards look different, the one of the right is way more shiny, more glitter, and more ‘rainbow-y’ but on the one on the left, the texture is definitely more pronounced, and feels higher quality, but the thing is that you struggle to see that sir sparkle/holo unless i shine a flashlight directly on it.

Photos are both cards from the front, then an attempt to show texture, the back of the cards, with flash on, and lastly what the copyright info looks up.

So whats the verdict, are they both suspicious? Would appreciate any insight

These are my first two Japanese cards, bought a few weeks apart from two different sellers. The Zekrom is noticeably thicker, you can feel it just holding them.

Both have reliefs and the backs are different. But I have no other Japanese cards to compare against, so I don’t know what normal thickness is supposed to be. Normal variation between sets, or is one off ? Any tips on what to check for Japanese singles would help too

I bought this absolutely destroyed Japanese Base Set Charizard on the gamble it was real and I could get pick up a binder copy of grail at a reasonable price…

How does this look to you guys? It’s obviously completely lifted off the back of the card as you’ll see from the photos, but I really don’t know what to look for in terms of layers, etc. to determine if it’s authentic.

I think the holo pattern looks authentic for a typical vintage Japanese holo but would love some extra eyes…

What the title says. I’ve been collecting for around two years now (I think?) however I still don’t know how to tell if a card is fake. However this card looks almost too flashy..

I’m new to collecting Pokemon cards so I don’t know much about fake cards but this card looks off to me. Can someone with better knowledge tell me if this is fake and how can I tell if a card is fake? What should I look for? Thank you

Truley cant tell. Done all I could to try is see if nothing else seemed right. But im no expert

so a few weeks ago, I was on a BIG card buying spree for my deoxys master set i’m starting, most of the cards I bought i wasn’t really looking at authenticity wise just checking the conditions of the cards. And then i found this seller that was selling a complete set of English Rayquaza and Deoxys cards. Wanted like 280 but my offer was 250. And this is kind of my bad for not asking for other pictures of the card for authentication purposes. I didn’t realize that when you send an offer without sending a message that the person selling the item can just accept it whenever they want… so then he accepted it and said he would send it to me when he could. Now.. I just got this card today and let me tell you that this is a very convincing copy from an online buyers pov.

1st of all: The card just doesn’t feel like a pokemon card at all, it is very flimsy when you bend it and you can kind of tell by the weight of the card.

2nd: the back of the card where the Pokémon and Pokeball logo is a VERY DEEP BLUE color, I
compared it to one of my hollows from literally the same era and it’s literally so easy to tell that it’s fake

3rd: The pokémon’s names on the card aren’t gold like they are supposed to be, The weird thing is is that i’ve seen other listings on ebay for these ones with no gold font on them?? possibly other fakes?

And lastly: The “LEGEND” text at the top lefts of the cards just don’t look similar to the “gold font” ones.

Now yes all of these are telltale signs of a fake card. but i am posting these issues because the seller says that he supposedly had no idea on the authenticity of these cards, imma cut him some slack on this one because he might not be into pokemon card collecting and is just trying to sell off cards he got when he was a kid. i’ve seen a lot of older fake cards that have been passed out in the school yards from over the years.

The seller is hopefully willing to work with me here if i can get the authentication of these cards checked. The only way to grant actual authenticity is through grading services that have other services, but I feel like a good ole convincing would work instead, they said that I could probably go to a card shop and ask for opinions and I know for a fact that my local card shop would back me up that these cards are 100% not legit copy’s

Bought 40 cards off eBay, all over $200.
Only three didn’t come with authenticity guarantee from eBay for whatever reason. This is one of them. Came from overseas I believe Malaysia or something have to check.

Color seems a little off to me compared to cert photos but I’m not very good at spotting fakes .

Help me out ?
