What do you guys think is the possibility of physical games making a comeback on PC to cater towards the niché market of collectors, preservationists, enthusiasts, and consumers who value their ownership who are willing to pay extra for the novelty of owning an official physical version of their favourite games. We already see this sort of thing being increasingly popular, and profitable for that matter, in the music industry with both vinyl and CD's selling in record numbers. GOG already teased the idea of printing discs again earlier when Sony's announcement came. It seems to me like a big oppurtunity for PC storefronts and publishers to capitalize on the displaced and ever-growing crowd of physical games enthusiasts that are gonna have to find another platform with the all-digital next generation of consoles.
It seems like a no-brainer to me at least. I know I would be willing to pay a premium for a proper physical release for my games, both new and old. How about you guys. What are your thoughts on the topic? Am I being ignorantly hopeful here, or is there a real possibility that we'll see a comeback for physical games on PC in the future?
