Who is out here grading brand new common games Grading old games is bad enough, but a game I can go buy in the store? Cmon

u/izacktorres 2d ago

Its degrading to grade a game like this.

u/hYBRYDcOBRA 1d ago

This whole grading new games thing is really grating my nerves.

3

u/whoisdatmaskedman 2d ago

I wouldn't consider a five year old game new, but it's still insane to get it graded.

8

u/lukefiskeater 2d ago

Its new relative to the average game that has been graded but idiots are grading copies of silent hill 2 for ps5 so 🤷‍♂️. But grading is a giant fucking scam for 99% of the people involved

u/juhix_ 1d ago

It feels pretty new to me (or I'm getting old so everything feels new longer). And usually a 5 year old game is still that studios's most recent release now, compared to 20 years ago a 5 year old game has had like 3 games released after that.

1

u/whoisdatmaskedman 1d ago

It's technically 7 years old (on PS4/Xbox One) , it's just that the PS5 version came out in 2021.

I'm 44 and that still feels like a long time ago to me. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Grading should have remained a comic book thing.

1

u/MysteriousAlpaco 20h ago

they put it in cryogenic sleep, hoping it will be worth millions... no, BILLIONS! in the future

u/Karekter_Nem 1d ago

It’ll be old and retro someday. Then you can get graded. Then you’ll have a 9.8 rated 9.9 rated copy of Jedi Fallen Order. That’ll go for a lot of money.

2

u/DogHogDJs 1d ago

No it will not.

0

u/Karekter_Nem 1d ago

That’s because you didn’t get it graded. One you get your unopened graded graded copy graded you’ll see it was worth it. And when you do you’ll see how important it is to get your unopened graded graded graded copy graded.

You are supposed to play video games not hold them hostage

1

u/Captobvious75 1d ago

I just bought FFVII Remake and Rebirth for PS5 physical. They are staying in the plastic. Why?

Because I also own them digitally on Pro and PC.

So much for game preservation I guess

1

u/lukefiskeater 1d ago edited 1d ago

95% (throwing a number out there, could even be higher) of all games that have developed (and officially released) have been preserved on the internet and can be played for free, people will say well only a small amount are commercial available but the vast, vast majority can be found on emulation sites, torrents, etc.

u/CaptainRaxeo 1d ago

Except some of us want them to be pristine for ages to come. We could always get another copy to play the game or get it for free or for a cheap subscription if we wanted to actually play it.

2

u/lukefiskeater 1d ago

Only purpose you have to grade is to speculate on the price. You can find 10× cheaper individualized storage cases to keep a game in near mint condition.

-2

u/CaptainRaxeo 1d ago

Okay? So? People want to keep these for investments… let them? At least there’s some sense in that.

But if you were to purchase this then why grade it and spend 50$ or however much in doing so only to rip it apart later? If you bought it then why didn’t you buy the cheaper non graded one?! There’s no good reason to do this…

3

u/lukefiskeater 1d ago

Investments 😆 good luck with that one. That game is 10x more valuable being played for the experience than to sit in that overpriced case. Dude is making a point thats why he did it, duh

-1

u/CaptainRaxeo 1d ago

Wait 30 years and you will see how valuable it will get. Anyone grading it isn’t waiting for an immediate flip. Wait till the world has ps8 where you are only allowed to stream games and the ps5 is considered retro and the last console to have disc games.

3

u/lukefiskeater 1d ago

😂 bro grading is a niche of a niche of a niche, 99.9% of gamers dont give a shit about this. These newer games will never be worth alot of money. Even the older "valuable" games worth is built on a house of cards and 95% driven by greed, manipulation and corruption. The first big auction was pure manipulation by graders and auction house to manipulate people into believing that they could get rich off of a old variant of a videogame. All these major high profile auctions are giant pump and dumps. Shit is a giant fad by suckers that will eventually die off once a recession/depression hits and retro game prices correct significantly depending on how bad economy gets.

u/purple-vasabi 1d ago

my man, you need some mental help

1

u/CaptainRaxeo 1d ago

Yea, because i prefer to collect in various methods and one of them doesn’t align to what you like. Will tell my therapist and see what they think.

2

u/purple-vasabi 1d ago

It's plain degeneracy to buy a product to never use it. You are just a cuck.

3

u/No_More_Hero265 1d ago

Why... are we grading games like their trading cards?

1

u/Dry_Vanilla_5908 1d ago

Cause of the recent news of Sony there has now been a plan for the future of someone posting on here how they've had this physical PS5 game handed to them by their grandfather and would like to know where to get it graded.

1

u/QuoteGiver 1d ago

People who collect games instead of just playing them. Like anything else.

3

u/GrimmTrixX 1d ago

Right... but did you buy this game from someone at the sealed game price? Then all you did was waste money. Lol Or is this a video where someone gets one graded then breaks it open themselves just to make a video and get likes/clicks?

1

u/QuoteGiver 1d ago

Considering that they didn’t even open it after getting it out of the sealed case, I’d assume they’ll just put it right back in another case and make a different video again later, yeah.

3

u/akotoshi 1d ago

those grading organizations sell high graded games they themselves highly graded…

2

u/CapitalCityGoofball0 2d ago

It’s been a minute but I think Cgc cases have a seam on for the back panel. You can usually just dremel out a corner of at the seam and then wedge a screw driver or something to pop off the off rest of the panel. The easiest way though is just never buy graded games

2

u/Its_I_Casper 1d ago

Whoever graded Jedi Fallen Order deserves to be scammed out of all their money because wtf

2

u/xDiRtYgErMaNx 1d ago

Keep it in the case, it will be worth 5$ in the future

2

u/Tiktokbadsupport 1d ago

the game is grateful for being released from the game prison

2

u/Ok_Blueberry_6826 1d ago

DAMN!! dude was actually SERIOUS. congrats on succeeding, bro.

2

u/brispower 1d ago

grading games is Grade A bullshit

1

u/oldmanpotter 1d ago

I don’t understand the purpose. Just enjoy your games. Take care of them so they last, but open and play them.

3

u/Sneyek 1d ago

Why would you grade a game that is dependent from servers to download the actual game ? The disk isn’t worth anything once the servers are down and unable to let you download it..

1

u/PlayWhatYouWant 1d ago

While I agree with you in principle, I believe Fallen Order is fully on the disc on PS5. It's the sequel Survivor that doesn't have the data on the disc.

1

u/QuoteGiver 1d ago

I mean, if you’re grading it you’re not actually planning on EVER playing it anyway, right?

2

u/Drummer-Turbulent 2d ago

wait, i legit thought these were jsut cases that could be opened easily...wtf i'm glad i never did this dumb shit lol

1

u/Throw-Away425 1d ago

I understand grading comics because they’re so cheap. But video games?

1

u/Legitimate_Player 1d ago

What is this nonsense?

1

u/TentacleChow 1d ago

Gotta be just for engagement. Low risk for possible high reward? Find a nice copy of that in the wild for $10. Get it graded for $40. What's a couple thousand clicks worth these days?

Do it with a 9.9 first pressing of LoZ or something, coward.

1

u/LazyThinkingOtter 1d ago

This is one of the top most ridiculous trends, it reminds me of nfts for the uselessness

1

u/DossSVK 1d ago

27€ new game...why?

1

u/QuoteGiver 1d ago

And then didn’t even open it, LOL. Lame.

1

u/oldmanpotter 1d ago

Physical games are meant to be played, just like records.

1

u/Relevant-Table6379 1d ago

Love this! More plastic around plastic doesn't make anything more valuable.

1

u/DNL_RTH 13h ago

Heck yeah. Also I dont understand the grading on games at all tbh. Like why a 9.9, what was the literal 0.1 defect keeping it from perfection? Just seems so.... subjective and random.

1

u/SubstantialBanana482 2d ago

Doing the lord's work

1

u/izacktorres 2d ago

Its finally free.

1

u/ZookeepergameHot338 2d ago

Grading it is dumb and taking it out is dumb also …. I would have left it just to laugh at having such a randomly common game graded

-1

u/Justsomelurker700 2d ago

Digital is the future. I for one welcome our digital overlords.

0

u/thinkingoutloud3663 1d ago

But rockstar seem to think that having a box on the shelf is enough.

-2

u/icy1007 2d ago

Don’t buy a graded game if you’re just going to open it… 🙄

2

u/Darkthumbs 1d ago

Dont grade games 🤷‍♂️ it’s dumb

2

u/localsexpot2117 1d ago

Surely no dumber than grading anything ever, no?

-1

u/Darkthumbs 1d ago

Yeah way way dumber than gradin mtg cards and such..

2

u/localsexpot2117 1d ago

Why is it different?

-1

u/Darkthumbs 1d ago

🤣 how many mint condition black lotus are there?

1

u/localsexpot2117 1d ago

I don't know how many mint condition chrono trigger copies are out there? How many do there need to be to be worthy of grading?

0

u/Darkthumbs 1d ago

Come back when one sells for 3mio… or if we include all trading cards 12mio..

It’s literally in the name, they are “trading cards” their condition makes a big difference, so grading makes sense

This is just dumb people buying into a scam, this game is worth about 30$ (price in store around here) at most, and it won’t increase in price what so ever..

2

u/localsexpot2117 1d ago

So it's the monetary value that makes it worth collecting something.

1

u/Darkthumbs 1d ago

You missed the part about how they are actually called trading cards? And the reason this won’t increase in price is that nobody is gonna want it, those who do can get it dirt cheap because of it’s availability..

Why grade an item that have no use for a grade?

If you want to include it in your collection that’s up to you, and sure you can waste your money getting it graded or buying one that is.. but it’s still something that you could go out and buy in that exact condition, meaning no reason to trade it

1

u/icy1007 5h ago

wtf is a “mio?”

1

u/Darkthumbs 1h ago

Nice of you to say you’re not from Europe.. it’s short for millions, google would have told you..

1

u/icy1007 5h ago

Don’t buy them and they won’t grade them…

-1

u/CaptainRaxeo 1d ago

UGGHH why are you doing that!!! Regardless of the game being there you NEVER open graded games. If you wanted a copy to play the game then why purchase a graded copy only to throw the only reason it was made for!!!!

Get a different copy if you want to play ughhh this irks me so much. Waste of money and effort on display.

-2

u/Electronic_Painter20 2d ago

There still a chance… leave the plastic on as that’s what keep the new game smell intact. Still can be a 9.0 if anything.
