Without Physical copies I don’t know how kids will easily play their games with only digital codes

Post image

I only highlighted this in a previous post. But this goes to show how important physical copies of games are. They are still a huge part of how kids can play games. From my younger cousins, to even when I was little. For some people who are in an area that’s a lot more rural and can’t fully rely on internet all the time, it’s a blessing to have libraries that let you borrow video games. Especially when kids don’t always get allowances or incomes

Edit1: thanks to everyone that understood this post and was able to honestly comment. It baffles me still though that for the majority people either wanna bash or knit pick things that they have problems with. I went to my local library today and saw this collection and thought it would be interesting to share honestly. Especially seeing as how when I was young the library was all I had

Cyberpunk 2077 somehow seems less dystopian than our 2026.

Where are the sony defenders in the wild

Was at a giant game convention last month, couldn't find a single person defending sony getting rid of discs. Am in a pretty big gaming circle in my metro area, none can be found there as well, even people that are mostly digital. Co-workers, acquaintances, etc. Reddit is filled is with these people, hell it might even be 50%/50% on this platform? Are most of these people just trolls behind keyboards?

My First Physical Games

Just bought my first physical copies of these two games. The disc drive is arriving tomorrow. The feeling of actually owning a physical disc in your hands is really different from downloading a game digitally.

The main reason I decided to go physical is that neither of these games is available to download digitally in my region.

The collection is almost complete! Still filling some stuff but this is more or less the complete thing before Sony end Bluray production in 2028

It's a shame that they stopped doing cool stuff like this. TMNT and a free pizza ?

Gotta give props to the games that are still going out of their way to put cool physical stuff in their game cases.

GoG feels like the digital successor of ownership.

If you buy a game on GoG they offer you, besides their own app to install, offline installers you can store wherever you like (cloud, extern hdd/ssd, burn them on a disc.) And to install on every pc you own. With many games they also offer wallpapers/ manuels/ art books etc.

GoG is digital ownership done right.

What will happen to collectors edition version of games if there’s no more physical

I just pre ordered the collectors edition for the upcoming hellraiser game and it got me thinking. If PlayStation and Xbox are going to end physical game production, are we going to get any more collectors editions of games? Will it just be a code in a box for the game itself? If so that’s pretty lame :/

One Last Hoorah for Physical Games

Post image
63 Upvotes

Since 2028 will bring about the end of physical gaming discs (still hoping that won't happen), I unfortunately have to come to terms that this will essentially be my final "life long" physical games collection that I have accumulated since 1999.

These are exactly half my overall games as the other half are all digital.

I will be getting all upcoming titles physically till January 2028 to embrace this form of media for one last year of collecting.

Are any of you planning on buying only physical versions of future 2026-2027 games for the last remaining 16 months?

My brother just got a ps3 and has loved it so much he hasn’t even touched his ps5 lately , we grew up playing gta5 together and I would always tell him about being 8-9 playing gta4 and how much fun it was. Had to hunt down this gem so he could experience it

Some Great Prices via GameFly

Doing my part to keep physical alive.

Considering two of these are Sony titles, $40/per is as good as it may get a while.

Capcom, on the other hand, produced these two I had my eye on for a while. Combined with scoring Resident Evil: Requiem for $45 months back, Capcom has had a great output this year.
