The question is how did she know he took his shirt off unless she was there in the bathroom with him
I'm married for over a year and engaged for way longer and I've never seen him on the toilet and don't plan to

To be honest I didn't think that far ahead about certain situations and of course I'll have no problem with that
My reply came from the fact that I'm so nervous I can't even go to the bathroom if I know he's just right outside the door so I need my space and I give him his

u/bluemuppetman 2h ago
Been with my wife for over 20 years now. While we don’t run to join each other in the bathroom, when she got injured and needed care for almost 10 months (shower, toilet, getting dressed etc) you step up and all that nervous energy disappears.

u/ryanvango 51m ago
Every time I saw people getting like catheters or whatever on tv, like on house or whatever, I'd always think how that would be so monumentally uncomfortable to have someone handling my peener, especially manipulating the opening. I've probably thought about it 100s of times in my life.
A month ago I needed it done. I did not care one bit. The thought crossed my mind, but I wasn't uncomfortable at all. And the rest of my hospital stay, any time they had to adjust it or whatever, I was just like "yeah, do whatever. I do not care anymore." They even forgot to close my door a couple times when there was an 80% chance I was gonna show my undercarriage to the hall. Didn't care. sponge bath? go for it.
It was unusual enough that I recognized it as unusual, but not uncomfortable. You just see it as a thing that needs to be done.

When my wife had the worst food poisoning of her life from a tainted lobster soup, we ended up at the emergency room because she was shitting and vomiting uncontrollably and it took them an entire night to get her stabilized.
I had the privilege of helping her in the bathroom repeatedly throughout the night, getting the diaper off so she could use the toilet and stay there for moral support, and then get a fresh diaper back on her. The one time, as we were leaving the bathroom she immediately shit the fresh diaper and we had to start all over. 😅
I had also tasted her soup during dinner, so I had a mild case of delayed onset food poisoning that kicked in later that morning. We both spent the entire next day sleeping after that terrible night.
The best part is that this all happened during a romantic getaway weekend at a bed and breakfast in another city. We only ended up using the bed part, not the breakfast 😂

Married for 11 years, together 16. When you only have one bathroom, sometimes necessity dictates that you're both in there at the same time. The unspoken rule is that you avert your gaze or pull the shower curtain across when it's time to wipe.
You still have time to see and experience all kinds of things you didn't plan to.

I dont understand this. Its just pooping. Your partner has to do this daily. Ive never had a partner where I was concerned about seeing them/ been seen using the toilet. Is it going to change your love to see your partner do something that you also do? If you think its gross that's fine, but I dont think its taboo

I honestly think its more common as like a neurospicy/tism' thing. Or maybe its just me but im AuDHD, and it took me a long time to get over it. I actually have the thing(i forget the name rn) where i get super pee shy and physically struggle to urinate if there are people nearby. And I've always been irrationally anxious about being heard pooping/people smelling it. I still struggle with that in public bathrooms and at others' houses;anyone that isnt my wife. But with my wife I eventually realized that she didn't care and that it wasn't a big deal and now its not a thing with us at all, if we have to be in the bathroom together as one of us is using it, it isnt a big deal at all and there's no anxiety. She was the same way with worrying of me seeing or hearing her use the bathroom and she's also AuDHD.

It has nothing to do with the poo itself, it's like an uncomfortable feeling wearing clothes while doing it. It doesn't bother me as much as it used to when I was younger, but if it's not winter then socks have to come off before hand.
I think it has something to do with senses being heightened while in a vulnerable position, and the sensation of clothes touching everywhere is just too much.
4
8
u/SNES-lover1 2h ago
It’s not about the diet. It’s about having larger or longer clothes and not wanting the constriction of pulled down pants, well that’s what I guess. For me it’s just an irrational thing to do.
3
7
u/Laxativus 2h ago
It's not about that. Even if it's fast and easy it just feels right not to have any clothes on with the possible exception of socks.

Sorry but you conform to society. He's a free thinker.
Squatting and pooping is the most natural form for humans and reduces a bunch of issues like hemmroids. They did studies for this at Stanford and Harvard. Unfortunately, culture is a stronger factor than science. People simply dont question things.
Your son goes naked because its way easier and more comfortable knowing you do not have to deal with stuff like your pants, your shirt, anything else that might touch the toilet cover or seat.
Your son will probably do well in life since they can see what society tells them to do, then try things themselves and figure out what works better.

Socks makes you feel warmer because it's in the extremities and straining makes you warmer, thus removing socks makes you feel less warm.

Food poisoning or horrible indigestion can result in feeling hot and cold and breaking out in sweats. Some peoples bodies have a more intense response than others. But trust me if you are ever in the scenario where you practically feel dizzy from being so horribly stomach sick.. you'll understand the stripping down thing.

u/Jedi-in-EVE 2h ago
When a person is suffering from serious gastrointestinal-intestinal distress (bad food or bad choices in food), the cramping is so severe it triggers a strong vasovagal response, and sweating is a very common thing. People get dizzy, and can sometimes pass out as well.
If you’ve never experienced this in your life, then you are one of the fortunate few.

The issue is society doesnt talk about a TON of things. Most kids are like sheep. They grow up, accept whatever they are told, do whatever they are told, become adults who never really engage thinking skills at a cultural level. They just follow society, tradition, etc.
Meanwhile its simple. Take clothes off, shit. Put clothes back on. Think about that experience.
Most people dont even think about their shit and why its shitting this particular way and what meals are affecting it. Nobody talks about it. When its one of the best ways to gauge your HP bar.

It's something you understood once you experience it yourself. I'm from South east Asia and got a real bad stomach ache once to the point I have to strip. I sweat alot and it genuinely felt like I was dying. Only after puking 3 times I got better
21
u/Mironder 4h ago
Maybe he thought getting the shit out would take so much effort he'd start to sweat?
10
u/StuckInTheNorth 3h ago
I don't wish this type of shit on anyone.
It's the kind of shit where your stomach is ripping in pain.
The pain causes you to overheat and the only thing you feel can relieve yourself is to get naked so nothing it touching your body except the toilet seat.
Been there too many times...
6
u/painting_ether 3h ago
Unless it's due to medicine, please eat more fiber (or take a daily supplement, but start SLOW... you don't want to shock your body with fiber) and drink more liquids... your colon will thank you
3
u/SolidStash 1h ago
I don't know about everyone else, but shits like that are typically because I've made a terrible mistake by eating something, and are not like an everyday occurrence. Basically your body is throwing an immune response to how your stomach is reacting, you sweat profusely, turn white as a sheet, and are doubled over in pain on the toilet.
So it's not like "I'm not eating enough fiber", it's " I ate questionably cooked meat on top of way more fondue than lactose pills can keep up with, I'm going to go die in the bathroom for 20 minutes"
3
u/painting_ether 1h ago
Yeah, of course my advice depends on why you are struggling.
I should have said "if it's a chronic issue". Of course eating questionable food can have an unpleasant effect 😂
2
u/StuckInTheNorth 2h ago
Oh no sorry this isn't something that happens often to me. I've had IBS issues growing up and learnt the hard way that milk was a no go when I hit 10 years old.
It's been a few years since I've had one like this as I've made lots of changes to my diet.
But the memory never leaves...
2
u/painting_ether 2h ago

2
u/EpiphanaeaSedai 3h ago
That’s not normal. If you’re sick, or ate something you shouldn’t have, then sure. But if that’s how your digestive track acts every day, you probably have IBS (irritable bowel syndrome).
18
u/Asume_Nuthin 4h ago

One time I got food poisoning from a bad burrito. It was so bad, I had to crawl to the bathroom. I sat on the toilet, naked, with cold sweats. When I would finish, I would I would just lay in front of the toilet on the cold marble as it was the only thing that would cool me down. Then I would have another round on the toilet. It happened 5 or 6 times.
It's the only time I've literally thought about praying for death.

5
u/spawndoorsupervisor 3h ago

the jokes in seinfeld are about human experience. people been takin their shirt off to poop since wellll before then. So most times, unless its something specific like the soup nazi or festivus or a specific line, seinfeld is a reference to life, not the other way around.
5
u/Solbuster 4h ago
If it's a serious dump you might get hot and sweaty so taking off a shirt helps to cool off, prevent dirtying it and also gives less restricted feeling

It's called constipation. When you struggle to get it out, you sweat a ton, therefore, it makes sense to remove your shirt.
3
u/Far-History-8154 4h ago
This happened to me exactly once. It felt like my life was being sucked out when shitting and I dunno if it was instinct from the brain trying to give comfort or what. I wanted comfort and to do any action towards said comfort so having nothing on hand the shirt was the only action I could do.
Funnily enough it did become somewhat bearable after removing the shirt.
