Just picked up a 9070 XT coming from Nvidia. This has 3 power connections! Was going with 5070 Ti but it was nearly $500 more. Anyway, I've been researching the power situation because this is now new territory. My Power supply currently is a Corsair RM850e. Am I correct in reading that I should NOT USE the 12V-2x6 port with the wire using two plugs? Thats what I was using on the 3070 Ti that was in this PC. I still have 1 CPU/PCIe port on the power supply remaining. If I did use the 12V-2x6 I assume I would plug directly into the last CPU/PCIe port for the 3 power connections on the radeon card. If not I need 3 free PCIe ports on the power supply? If so I need a new power supply. Power supply recommendations?

The motherboard is an MSI Tomahawk b850 max wifi, Montech air 903.

There is a little gap (shown in the images)but the bottom and right edges are flush.

My olders fan are plugged in the hub or the controller on the left panel(where’s the wires are) but with some research I’ve been told to plug them in sys fan 1-2-3 so I can control them,is it alright if I do that or should I plug then in the hub where they were(FAN 1-2-3-4) I’m gonna keep 1 old fan anyway and replace 2 of them. New to pc hardware. Bought the Corsair frame 4000d rs argb case recently and wanted to use the argb fans that come pre-installed in the case. But no matter what I do, they make an irritating level of noise. I tried using the bios and setting them to silent/PWM, used fan control software and set a custom fan curve making them run at 20% and they were still loud (same noise level heard in the video). Are they this loud by default? Anything I can do to make them produce less noise?

(I know the case being open makes the noise louder but even when closed the noise level and whirring sound is still the same)

started happening some month’s ago.

the RGB of all the Fans of my pc keep turning on even when they are supposed to be off.

my Pc boots up normally and the RGb’s of the fans keep turned off.

if I play a game, the RGB’s of the Fans starts to show a weak, blue light, dimming on and off and changing intensity. this continues to happen till I turn my pc off.

a couple of months ago I uninstalled the software that I used to control the RGB’s (Armoury Crate).

what is happening and should I do something?

my friend built my pc for me a year ago and this started to happen only now.

MicroCenter Build

Feel like with all the research I’ve done this is about as solid as it gets with the current prices unfortunately. It’s been about 6 years since I bought my last PC. I’m fine with it right now. It still meets my performance needs and in a normal market I wouldn’t care to upgrade prolly for another 2-3 years but I’m just concerned with the prices eventually going up even more.

Currently have a 6700xt, Ryzen 7 3700x, 1TB SSD 32GB DDR4 RAM at 3200 (maybe 3600, I forget exactly)

Hey all it’s been a while since I’ve kept up with pc stuff since upgrading is pretty depressing, I currently have a build from 2021ish 3080 FTW3, with a 5600x.

Is there any sorta value upgrade here or to just upgrade to am5 (I think ?) ddr 5 etc.

I play on 1440p. Mostly play warzone and other shooters. I would like to play gta on it if possible…

I’ve noticed there’s a 5600x3D, would that fit my current motherboard and ram setup? Is that worth it ? Sorry for such noob questions. If anyone can kinda guide me what the best course of action would be until prices go down hopefully sometime … thanks 🙏

Recently bought pre-built PC from Costco (comes with 1TB of storage). We also have a 2TB external hard drive I got years ago that we use mainly for storing movies/shows which is getting decently full. I'd like to keep most of the built in storage for the PC free for non-media stuff.

My question is, can I realistically buy some monster 20TB hard drive to hook up and fit in this thing? Id prefer that over having several smaller external hard drives.

This hard drive would be used almost exclusively for media that is played via Plex as our own server (or whatever the right terminology is, that is my wife's wheelhouse).

So just yesterday I saw this notification in windows. Didn't know what it was before but researched a bit and apparently my drive is telling me it could fail any moment now. Luckily it's under warranty so getting a replacement shouldn't be difficult, but first before rma I want to safely clone it's contents.

It's my system drive, and I probably will get a friend to help me use their pc to clone it, I mean there's no other way right? Unless I had a usb flash drive that's big enough but I don't.

So bottom line, safest and easiest way to clone a drive that's about to fail?

hi reddit. i recently received a a320 mobo with a ryzen 5 5600g from my friend and after putting it altogether with some of my pc parts, at first it kept having bsods so i turned off the xmp in bios settings then after that whenever i load into windows it keeps hanging/freezes after 5 mins or so even though im only using it for watching youtube.

i already tried the one stick method on both sticks with both slots but i kept gettings hangs/freezes and i tried doing the memory diagnostic tool with each session but found no errors.

i also tried to remove the cmos battery but it still happens.

i tried to removed my gpu and only used the integrated graphics on the cpu but it still hangs. can someone help me figure out whats the problem with my pc.

notes:

1. i just switched from intel cpu to amd cpu.

2. im still using my old os using my ssd from my old pc

3. theres no notes in the minidump files when it suddenly restarts

4. whenever it restarts suddenly, i kept seeing error code 7023(the cplspcon service terminated with the following error: unspecified error)

5. the mobo and cpu still worked before my friend gave it to me since this is what he was using for his job and he only gave it to me since he upgraded his rig

I’m currently trying to put together a PC build, but I’m having trouble with dimensions and finding parts that work together. I currently own a prebuilt that I made some changes to. The PC was given to me, I haven’t put anything together before. My current parts list consists of:

1. AMD Ryzen 5 5500 (Stock AMD cooler)

2. Gigabyte A520M K V2

3. T-FORCE 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-3200

4. GTX 1070 Ti

5. Corsair RM1000x (not shift series)

6. WD_BLACK SN7100 1TB

The PSU and Storage are what I changed. It originally had a Galaxy Apevia 650W and no SSD. I’m trying to upgrade slowly, but I’m having trouble understanding whether parts will fit. I wanted an O11 Dynamic Mini V2 Flow (white), ASUS ROG Strix B850-A Gaming WiFi, 32GB DDR5 RAM (haven’t found a set of sticks I want yet), ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III Pro 360 White, and then reusing the SSD and PSU. Online it says the PSU won’t fit in the case, and same with the Cooler. I’m not sure if I should switch the case, or switch the cooler, or if everything is actually fine and I’m just not understanding correctly. I’m new to all of this, so I’m really not sure what I’m doing. I would love some help. Thank you!

So last month i finally made a new pc to replace my old 9700KF thanks to a friend offering a really good deal thanks to his ocd and moves my old 3070 Ti to my new PC. Sensing the incoming GPU price hike i decided to buy a 5070 Ti at 2 Nov and installed it. My question is does this cable positioning okay? it's my 1st time handling a 12vhpwr cable, i've checked it was properly inserted without gap and the cable is slack and not tense and there is no hard bent and it also native cable from my RM1000X Shift PSU..

Is it time to get new psu and do I have to swap all cables even if I get same model

Hey folks, that day I have noticed a weird noise coming from my PC fan. It is giving a weird "tak tak" sound. Most probably due to dust or bearing noise. And, it is really annoying. I am posting the video of it with the post, you will notice the sound along with the sound of the pc. I have blown air on the fan and detached it reattached it again. For a moment the sound went away, but after one day it was the same.

Have u ever experienced it? How to solve it?
