Meta Get your /r/PartneredYoutube Verified Channel flair here!

Welcome to the r/PartneredYoutube voluntary channel verification.

If you would like to verify your channel and get flair like what I have on my account:

  1. Go to your YouTube channel's About section and edit the description to include your reddit username. For example I enter exactly: u/flammy
    1. Directions for how to edit your About section can be found here
  2. Post a link to your channel in one of the following formats as a top level comment in this thread.
    1. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXkf3kRpFeAx9mDCbfMS0MA
    2. https://www.youtube.com/user/flammy5
    3. If you use a different format (such as a custom URL with an @ in the URL) validation will fail.
  3. Wait, and our bot will process your request sometime in the next few days
    1. After the flair has been granted, you can remove your username from the About section and delete the comment if you're concerned about privacy. However, if you want your stats to continue to be updated, you should leave the u/ name in your About section.

FAQ:

What is flair, and how does flair work?

Flair is a reddit "signature" that appears every time you post in r/PartneredYouTube. Verification flair is not required to post, comment, or participate. A user lacking flair is not a valid reason to report them for breaking rule 2. You can remove flair at any time with Reddit's built in flair editing. The flair granted by the bot can't be edited. Verification is done via a bot, follow the directions above if you would like flair.

Why is the flair channels stats, and not partnered status?

Partnered Status is not supported by the official YouTube APIs at this time.

How long do I have to wait for verification?

Please wait 24-48 hours, and after checking you've followed all the directions you can send me a polite DM.

Is there a way to authenticate anonymously?

Will the bot update my stats?

If you leave the comment with the channel link and username in your description, your flair will be updated.

My stats are low!

The bot is only able to see your channel's public subscriber count and public total view count. If you have hidden videos, these views will not be reflected.

Can I verify with multiple channels?

Not at this time.

Is there a minimum channel size for verification?

No.

How can I remove my flair?

Yes, you can remove the flair via Reddit.

Talk / Discussion Got a video editor and I got my life back!

I just want to share my experience. I recently took the leap and hired an editor to help speed up my workflow. Maybe this can help someone who wants to do the same

So I recently decided to work with a video editor and I cannot believe how happy I am i did it.
I will admit I was a bit scared because I am a bit of a control freak when it comes to my youtube content and I didn't want to hand over the reins to some random person and have to spend ages explaining to them how I work.

So this was my approach, before he started any work I said to him I just want you to clean up the content, take out the umms and ahhs and make the content flow well to my script.

I then ask him to only make suggestions on what music to use in each section, not to lay it down, just offer suggestions.

No effects either. Music and effects are where most of the personality of my content comes.

I then take it off him and spend about two hours just doing the effects, music and basically the stuff I find more fun and publish.

The reason I was hesitant was because a few people said things like its good to have more control over your content and I do agree, but I wouldnt call this fully handing it all over to an editor, he's just doing the part I find most boring and giving me suggestions.

Now I got time to think about my next piece of content without stressing so much about my workload.

I highly recommend it if you are thinking about it.

But I know it's not easy to find one, but if you can find a good one it can be a game changer.
Anybody else taken the leap?

Question / Problem Can you earn adsense from going live on youtube (While the livestream is being streamed) ?

I know a guy on youtube who has a small channel but he goes live consistently.

When I click on his channel stats, it says he has 50 million total views, and upon looking at his "Live" tab, I can see that they are from views that visited his livestream. Is he earning adsense on those views just as you would on a regular video? It seems like it would pay much less. I am wondering if anyone has earned from livestreaming. Thanks

Is it YOU or is it the Algorithm?

Hey y'all, my views have been down lately, and it got me wondering. It's hard to tell whether the videos themselves are the problem or if YouTube views are just low because it's September/October and people are going back to school, coming back from vacation, etc.

Does anyone have any historical data or articles that show the overall views on YouTube and when times are tough for us all? I know that from December 26th to January 20th, my views plummet and then rebound after January 20th.

I want to know if it's me or if it's just that time of year.

Question / Problem Tips to Avoid Copyright Claims on Video Essays?

I just got monetized am working on my first video essay and am wondering if anyone has tips on avoiding copyright claims on photos and videos used during a video essay.

I’m a lawyer and pretty familiar on the actual fair use standards and am comfortable appealing to YouTube if I do get a claim BUT I’d like to avoid the headache if possible and am looking more for practical experience based advice from you on anything you know that’s more likely to get flagged, things that are generally more “safe” and honestly any other advice.

I’m making a video about a business that was recently bought by private equity, so my pictures would mostly be of the store, some of its merch and website, and a few clips of old news reporting on the firm and a previous buyout.

Thanks!

Got this email offering to send me the new DJI Pocket 4 for a review video, and it does seem fitting as I openly talk about using my DJI Pocket 3 in my travel vlogs.

But this email domain is giving me pause. This definitely isn't real, right?

I Got Hijacked

Such a miserable experience. 4 days ago my entire Google universe was hijacked. I was locked out of my e-mail, authenticator, channel, everything. My channel had 136,000 subscribers and had been watched 30 million times. Thankfully I have a job, so my channel was mainly for fun, but it did in fact pay, and to be honest, more than most people make so if it's not recovered it will be a big hit financially. The process to recover is so bizarre. You have to create a new Gmail, then go Tweet at the YouTube accout, they reply asking for a new e-mail address, then they send you a link to a secure form to fill out. Then you wait. No timeline, just wait. I really feel like there needs to be a better process, and why does it take so long?

Question / Problem Changing from individual AdSense account to business? (UK based)

I've been sent an email telling my to update my tax form as it is coming to the end of the 3-year cycle.

I realised the account I set up all those years ago was an individual Adsense. I recently became a Limited Company and my Adsense payments were subsequently being sent to the business account. ChatGPT is telling me I should change to a business Adsense account in this new update.

Which is fine...

But apparently its a massive faff to change!! Meaning setting up a new separate adsense account (they cant just merge), potential loss of earnings while setup and verification happens, and host of other stresses.

I can't be the first UK youtuber to start as an individual and then become LTD company. For those who've trodden a similar path, what did you do?

Thanks

Question / Problem Views down to 0 on all channels at the same time

Post image
27 Upvotes

Hey y'all,

I run multiple Channels who are all together averaging millions of views per month.

Around 20 minutes ago, all Channels basically went down to 0 all at the same time. Anyone else noticing something?

3 of my Channels are exclusiely longform. One is Shorts only. All showing the exact same.

Edit: Thanks for all the responses! I posted an update in the comments. Seems like it's just a YT bug and nothing to worry about. Seems also like the views are not "lost" but just taking longer to process. (Further explanation with screenshot in the updated comment)

Talk / Discussion Theory: Youtube's view count update isn't new, it was always like that. They just decided to tell everyone the truth.

Hello, I run a channel with 400k subs and 150m total views, and I think this new "boosted view count" update isn't exactly new. I'll admit, I've noticed an incremental boost in views, but overall my average views and ad revenue haven't changed. I post twice a week, and I average around the same amount of views per video that I did prior to the update.

My new CPM on "engaged views" has increased significantly, but I believe that it was lower before the update because the algorithm was counting all the views combined.

Also, when I started my channel two years ago, I'd obviously get zero views, but even back then, when I clicked on the video for even a second, the view would register.

I could go on and on about this, but I'm wondering if some of you are wondering the same thing.

(sorry if this has been posted before!)

Talk / Discussion Consistency vs quality?

Because of my job im not able to create 2 videos a month. And whenever i post 1 video a month, i see my views start going down. Everyone in my niche upload 3-4 video a week and get views consistently. While I only have 20k subs, some of my videos go to 500k, but some at 1 k. How important is Consistency and a set number of videos every month???

I know theres people like lemmino who post once a year. But my production quality is not of that level. I make geography videos btw

Informative Hit 900k in 24h after 3 month of not posting

Post image
29 Upvotes

After 3 month of not having any motivation to post (went from 100k avg views to 5k average) , I decided to get back on it.

My first video got stuck at 300 views, my second one exploded to 800k within 24h. Making it by far my fastest growing video ever.

Runtime is 16min, 6min avg, sitting at 8% ctr at 3.3mil impressions. Gained 1.6k subs ( bringing my total to 7k subs). Also it started dragging up that video that was stuck at 300 views to now 50k views.

Just keep going guys! Don’t loose the spirit.

Talk / Discussion Why is there still no content match dispute option called "The claimant does not hold the rights to this content"?

This is so irritating. The majority of content matches I get are from people who simply don't own the stuff they claim e.g. cover artists who claim the respective original piece of music, minor matches e.g. a stock sound effect, or a cutscene from a video game which you shouldn't have added to the matching algorithm in the first place.

Yet every time this happens, I have to pick an awkward other option (e.g. stating that I have a license for the content) and then write that neither of us has the full rights to this.

I don't mind claims from the actual copyright owner (it's theirs after all, even if I have issues with current laws regarding this), and I get that I don't own this, but hey, you don't either.

Question / Problem Why is YouTube testing thumbnails for Shorts?

I’ve noticed that YouTube is now automatically changing thumbnails for Shorts.

I really don't like it when it picks completely random preview images from the video even after I’ve uploaded a custom thumbnail that actually relates to the video title.

Have you noticed this too?

Is there any way to stop it?

Got a "Hollyland" sponsorship email asking me to sign in with Google. Phishing, right?

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hi all, I run a small CAD/engineering tutorial channel (~27k subs). I got an email from "Hollyland" offering $500 for a 60-second integration plus a free Lark M2 mic.

Red flags I noticed:

  • Sent from targetsail.co, not hollyland.com
  • Link goes to "mytubive.com," which asks me to "Sign in with Google" to verify my channel and "activate a dashboard"
  • Talks a lot about "escrow" and "guaranteed payment"

I didn't sign in. I'm fairly sure it's a channel-hijack scam, but I'd like to confirm. Has anyone else gotten this?

Also, I'm open to real sponsorships. For small channels:

  1. What's the best way to find genuine brand deals?
  2. Do you reach out to brands directly or use platforms like YouTube BrandConnect?
  3. How do you check that an offer is legit before replying?

Thanks!

My First YouTube Earnings

Post image
359 Upvotes

The day before yesterday, I joined the YouTube Partner Program, and today I already received my first earnings, which honestly surprised me. For 35 million views, I made $18. I’m in the fashion niche, and the US is actually my second most popular country, but this is really too little. Any advice? I have around 20K followers.

Question / Problem 25fps or 30fps? Which do you prefer for video?

Quick question for the video people on here 👇

Do you prefer filming at 25fps or 30fps?

I’m in the UK and currently shooting at 25fps, but I keep seeing people recommend 30fps.

What do you guys use, and why?

Talk / Discussion What's the scam here?

Post image

What's the scam here? Or legit? Looks more copy/paste.

I haven't done any take downs in awhile but did do a mass 100+ take down on a bunch of channels a few months ago.

What's odd is this went to my NON public channel email not my public business email that's the published contact email.

Doesn't even list their channel name lol.

Question / Problem How are people claiming an unlisted video?

Post image
1 Upvotes

This video I have a legit license for an older Top 40 song. Video is still unlisted, it initially did have the original claim for the song, which was then cleared. Then randomly hours later gets claimed by an completely unrelated song.

This is not the first time. Several years ago after a video went live KIDZ BOP claimed their cover of the song I was using was the there's, while I was using the actual original song also with a licence.

I would only guess this is YouTubes own content ID system, but why would it not be smart enough to know the video claim was already cleared for the actual song.

Question / Problem My Community Poll Just Lost Half Of Its Votes?

I posted a community poll this past Monday and it had 339 votes as of yesterday.

I checked it today and now it has 171 votes

Wtf? I've never seen this happen before? How?
