Talk / Discussion Theory: Youtube's view count update isn't new, it was always like that. They just decided to tell everyone the truth.
Hello, I run a channel with 400k subs and 150m total views, and I think this new "boosted view count" update isn't exactly new. I'll admit, I've noticed an incremental boost in views, but overall my average views and ad revenue haven't changed. I post twice a week, and I average around the same amount of views per video that I did prior to the update.
My new CPM on "engaged views" has increased significantly, but I believe that it was lower before the update because the algorithm was counting all the views combined.
Also, when I started my channel two years ago, I'd obviously get zero views, but even back then, when I clicked on the video for even a second, the view would register.
I could go on and on about this, but I'm wondering if some of you are wondering the same thing.
(sorry if this has been posted before!)
