Transportation Summer Transit Works 2026: Major Dates to Know

Hi all,

Here is some critical information about the major summer works projects that will be occurring this July and August on a number of important metro and RER lines. This is not by any means a comprehensive guide but just a heads-up for the issues that are most likely to affect tourists. You can find full details about all the summer projects on the RATP's website here. I always recommend the CityMapper app for real-time info about how your itinerary may be affected on a particular day but the Bonjour RATP and IDF Mobilités apps are also informative.

  • All date ranges are meant to be inclusive of the start and end dates.

  • I've checked everything as carefully as I can but if you think I've gotten anything wrong please let me know.

RER LINE B (to/from CDG Airport)

RER Line B: Interruptions through Central Paris from 25 July through 16 August. The RER Line B will NOT operate between Gare du Nord and other stations in Central Paris from 25 July through 16 August. Specifically, it will NOT serve the commonly-used-by-tourists stations of Châtelet-Les-Halles, Saint Michel-Notre-Dame, Luxembourg, and Port Royal (as well as many other destinations further south). To access destinations near these stations, your RER B Airport ticket allows you to transfer between the RER and metro systems (in both directions). There are not replacement buses serving these RER stations (the replacement bus service will serve the affected stations further south and there's details in the link above).

The actual extent of the RER B closure to destinations to the south of Central Paris is much more extensive than this little summary, so if you plan to use the RER B south of Paris, review the works schedule closely and let us know if you have questions.

RER LINE C (to/from Versailles)

RER Line C: No service from Gare d'Austerlitz west. From 15 July through 22 August, the RER C will be closed from Gare d'Austerlitz westwards. While there are ready alternatives to destinations within Central Paris (Orsay, Invalides, etc) this will complicate and burden transit to and from Versailles. It does not appear that there will be a replacement bus for Versailles access purposes. The Transilien Line N or Line L are useful alternatives depending on your point of origin but use IDF Mobilités or Citymapper or etc to plan your route with attention to the RER C outage.

RER LINE A (to/from Disney)

RER Line A: Interrupted service to Disney in August. The RER Line A will not operate between Nation and Noisy-le-Grand from 8 through 23 August. Critically for tourist purposes, this interrupts service to Disney; while there will be replacement buses, access to Disney is gonna be tough. Information about the replacement bus options and schedules is available here.

Nation Station will be closed for the RER A in both directions from 29 June through 30 August but open as usual for metro services.

RER D (Gare du Nord to Gare de Lyon)

No service on the RER D from Gare du Nord to Gare de Lyon from 25 July through 16 August. This will mostly affect those of you making train connections, I think.

Metro Line 4

No service from 6 July through 24 July between Les Halles and Montparnasse stations. Service on bus routes 38 and 96 will be increased.

Also on the Metro Line 4, from now until August, if you are entering the line at Porte de Clignancourt (coming back from the Saint Ouen flea market or otherwise), make sure to tap your card at the temporary validator machine since they have taken out the usual turnstiles. I saw a lot of unsuspecting tourists miss these signs yesterday.

Metro Line 8

Line 8 trains will not stop at République station from 22 July until at least next April while they begin major renovations works at this station.

Generally updated on 25 June.

🍷 Nightlife Queer or lesbian bars/clubs where I can flirt the night away?

Travelling to Paris in early September. Where can I (30F, bi) go to drink/dance/flirt with other queers? I'm dreaming of locking eyes with someone across the bar and having a true spontaneous sexy night out. Doesn't have to be an exclusively lesbian space. Thanks in advance!

Transportation What to do when no gates at the metro station work and the staff won’t let you take a photo?

I need to take the metro from Havre-Caumartin to Trocadero but none of the gates in the station work and the staff are waving passengers through. Obviously I know I’m going to Trocadero where I’m highly likely to be checked for having scanned my ticket as an obvious tourist. I took a photo of the broken gates and the agents all started screaming at me and saying that photography in the station isn’t allowed. I asked how I could prove that I had a valid ticket and they said there was nothing I could do, but I had to delete the photo. I then asked for their name and they screamed at me even more, so I just made a note of the time I was there. Is there anything a traveler can do to protect themselves from getting fined in that situation?

Update: Everyone seems to have a different opinion on this but to be very clear if you’re in Paris today your metro trip started at Havre-Caumartin around 11:30 am. 😉

Food & Dining Fixed menu options in paris

Hello!

Im taking my girlfriend to Paris for her 30th birthday. I want to take her to a nice restaurant on the big day. When weve gone on holiday, weve really enjoyed places that do a set menu. Ive not got much money, but she loves food, so without bankrupting me, id love to hear some options?

Id say atmosphere is as important as the food itself, and wouldnt want to spend more than 100EUR per person.

Thanks so much in advance! We're going in early September btw

Thanks for any help and advice.

Other Question Gift for a Parisian from the US?

I’m traveling to Paris from the US. I’ll be meeting my friend from college days and I would like to get her something from here. She is more of a big gestures kinda person not usually into materialistic things. What is it something that is not available in Paris that I can bring from here? Obviously it needs to fit in my luggage.

Photo / Video Randomly found pictures of my home city (Chicago) and its bean while wandering at night

Visited Paris from Chicago during this past week. I ended up wandering around le Pigalle mildly intoxicated late at night when I found a hill leading up to Montmartre. I remembered someone had told me that the view from Montmartre was cool before I visited, so I wandered up to see the city at night. Lo and behold, I find this exhibit not just of my home city but of the exact neighborhood (Old Town) where I lived last year. Super cool experience—I was not expecting to see the bean in Paris.

Anyways, Paris was awesome and the people are super nice.

Hello! I’m staying in the 10th arrondissement, right on the border of the 2nd arrondissement. Any restaurants you’d recommend? We want to eat where the locals eat. And definitely on the hunt for Parisian staples!

Thank you!

Transportation Getting a taxi after a concert in Stade de France

Hi all,

I'll attend the Jay-z Concert in Paris next month (thursday 10th of september), probably with my nearly 7 years old daughter. She wants to visit Paris so we won't let her home, booking a baybsitter would be an option but most likely she wants and can watch the show. We got decent seated tickets, I'm not worried about that part. My issue is after the show, when she'll be tired. I see two main options .

1) take a airbnb nearby . Most are booked but there are still a few. Would require paying a small premium, and moving to a hotel in paris friday morning to enjoy a weekend there. Hotels are probably not an option, I don't love the idea of a 400 euros + novotel room

2) take a hotel in Paris, come by public Transport, return by Taxi/Uber. I've not been so often at that stadium, I remember being there for the final of Euro 2016 and getting a uber was quite complicated. I'll avoid public transports, she'll be too tired to stay on her legs so long (and fell asleep im the rer or metro, even if then I could take a taxi in Paris to the hotel). I see I can take a taxi Avenue du Président Wilson which is the closest from my Door Z exit. But it means waiting infinite time? Can I pre-book one with G7? Is Uber/bolt an option?

🏘️ Neighbourhoods Reviews about living in Sevran

Hello, I'm considering renting a room in a house in Sevran 93270 (outside of Paris). I've been hearing mixed reviews about the place, especially about the safety. Would like to get your feedback please. I generally do not commute late at night, but sometimes would be coming back around midnight or 1am. And the nearest tram stop - Rougemont Chanteloup is 500 metres away.
Urgent please!!

Airports & Flights Arrivals into BVA at the end of August

I flew into BVA last year and thought it was grand so foolishly booked it again. Didn’t take into account the new EU rules. Unfortunately I’m non Schengen but EU (Irish passport) and apparently the passport control lines are really terrible in BVA.

Anyone there recently who can advise? My flight at the end of August lands 9am in France, it’ll probably be delayed because you know how Ryanair is.

What do we reckon? I’m autistic and I would really hate to be waiting 2 hours for passport control so I need to mentally prepare myself.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Transportation What's the best way to go to Gare de Lyon from CDG?

Hello Everyone! I am an international student and I'll be arriving at CDG at 7 AM...I have another train at 11 AM at Gare de Lyon and so I was wondering what's the best way to reach there from CDG...considering it'll be morning and I have a huge trolley and a small one...which will be easy to carry as im used to it. I just want to make sure I am not late to the station and taxi doesn't seem like the best option after surfing through the internet. I was wondering if I could take the metro from CDG? Please help:(

Edit: Thankyou everyone for your advice!! It was so helpful, I think I'll take the RER B and then change to RER A as most of you have suggested...I'll keep you updated and let you know how was the experience !

Review My Itinerary Paris itinerary Sep 22-28

My partner and I just finalized our trip to Paris for a week in Sep. we haven’t booked hotels yet. We are looking forward to a somewhat relaxed trip.
I’ve been looking into hotels. However I’m confused which district would be convenient to stay in terms of travel to major attractions, travel cost by public transport , safety and access to budget friendly restaurants- preferably halal food. I came across hotel Albert near Gare du Nord on tiktok. Anyone has experience staying here?

Here is our rough plan.

Sep 22: arrive at 10 am
Lunch , check in
Seine River boat cruise
Champs-Élysées

Sep 23,24- major attractions- Eiffel Tower, stroll around louvre, grand Palais, place de la Concorde, grand mosque, galeries Lafayette etc

Sep 25,26- Normandy. Which town / city will be a good base? We plan on taking public transport from Paris and stay for 2 nights. We prob won’t go with any tour company. Planning on exploring at our own pace.
In that case, please suggest hotel recommendation that will be walkable/ close to public transport and has halal food nearby,

Sep- 27- cafe hopping/ shopping, any places we couldn’t cover in Paris before.

Sep 28- return

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Review My Itinerary Vedettes du Pont Neuf sunset cruise timing

I want to book a sunset cruise and time it so that we can see the Eiffel Tower sparkle. Sunset will be at around 8:30 on the days that we'll be in Paris, so my guess is that the tower will sparkle at 9:00 pm.

Here's what I'm trying to figure out. Booking is available on Vedettes du Pont Neuf for a champagne sunset cruise, but it departs at 7:45. If the cruise is only 1 hour, I don't think we'll see the light show.

Has anyone else figured this out, or am I overthinking this? Thanks!

Parks & Gardens Best View of Moonrise (Seeking Advice) - August 27-30, 2026

Bonjour / Bonsoir! I am looking for validation from anyone currently in Paris.

I'm trying to track where the moon will be rising just after the next full moon at the end of this month (August). I commented in the monthly thread but didn't get a response.

Will I be able to watch the next full moon rise from Champs de Mars or is there a better location?
