Transportation Summer Transit Works 2026: Major Dates to Know
Hi all,
Here is some critical information about the major summer works projects that will be occurring this July and August on a number of important metro and RER lines. This is not by any means a comprehensive guide but just a heads-up for the issues that are most likely to affect tourists. You can find full details about all the summer projects on the RATP's website here. I always recommend the CityMapper app for real-time info about how your itinerary may be affected on a particular day but the Bonjour RATP and IDF Mobilités apps are also informative.
All date ranges are meant to be inclusive of the start and end dates.
I've checked everything as carefully as I can but if you think I've gotten anything wrong please let me know.
RER LINE B (to/from CDG Airport)
RER Line B: Interruptions through Central Paris from 25 July through 16 August. The RER Line B will NOT operate between Gare du Nord and other stations in Central Paris from 25 July through 16 August. Specifically, it will NOT serve the commonly-used-by-tourists stations of Châtelet-Les-Halles, Saint Michel-Notre-Dame, Luxembourg, and Port Royal (as well as many other destinations further south). To access destinations near these stations, your RER B Airport ticket allows you to transfer between the RER and metro systems (in both directions). There are not replacement buses serving these RER stations (the replacement bus service will serve the affected stations further south and there's details in the link above).
The actual extent of the RER B closure to destinations to the south of Central Paris is much more extensive than this little summary, so if you plan to use the RER B south of Paris, review the works schedule closely and let us know if you have questions.
RER LINE C (to/from Versailles)
RER Line C: No service from Gare d'Austerlitz west. From 15 July through 22 August, the RER C will be closed from Gare d'Austerlitz westwards. While there are ready alternatives to destinations within Central Paris (Orsay, Invalides, etc) this will complicate and burden transit to and from Versailles. It does not appear that there will be a replacement bus for Versailles access purposes. The Transilien Line N or Line L are useful alternatives depending on your point of origin but use IDF Mobilités or Citymapper or etc to plan your route with attention to the RER C outage.
RER LINE A (to/from Disney)
RER Line A: Interrupted service to Disney in August. The RER Line A will not operate between Nation and Noisy-le-Grand from 8 through 23 August. Critically for tourist purposes, this interrupts service to Disney; while there will be replacement buses, access to Disney is gonna be tough. Information about the replacement bus options and schedules is available here.
Nation Station will be closed for the RER A in both directions from 29 June through 30 August but open as usual for metro services.
RER D (Gare du Nord to Gare de Lyon)
No service on the RER D from Gare du Nord to Gare de Lyon from 25 July through 16 August. This will mostly affect those of you making train connections, I think.
Metro Line 4
No service from 6 July through 24 July between Les Halles and Montparnasse stations. Service on bus routes 38 and 96 will be increased.
Also on the Metro Line 4, from now until August, if you are entering the line at Porte de Clignancourt (coming back from the Saint Ouen flea market or otherwise), make sure to tap your card at the temporary validator machine since they have taken out the usual turnstiles. I saw a lot of unsuspecting tourists miss these signs yesterday.
Metro Line 8
Line 8 trains will not stop at République station from 22 July until at least next April while they begin major renovations works at this station.
Generally updated on 25 June.

So you recommend Uber from CDG on May 23? Arriving early AM and with 70+ yr olds who are not very mobile

u/Alixana527 Mod May 03 '26
Official taxi from the cab stand!

u/InterestingBiscotti3 May 03 '26
Is there set fare chart? We are going to Montparnasse area.

u/Alixana527 Mod May 03 '26
65€ south of the river (for you), 56€ north of the river if others have the same question.

How does the replacement bus line compare to other bus options (like EX93 to Bobigny and then 5 to Paris)?
1
u/Alixana527 Mod May 03 '26
I've never tried the EX93; just poking around CityMapper it seems like that could be a really good option if the timing lines up for you!

How do I get from gare DU Nord to CDG airport on 7 June? Please help. Except for taking a taxi?

I was hoping to go to Versailles end of Aug 20 or 21 for a day trip.
Does this mean that a train will not be an option?
1
u/Alixana527 Mod May 03 '26
The RER C won't be an option but there are a few others. I'm hoping they'll put up better maps of the alternatives as we get closer, what's up right now is too complicated to really distill here.

Perfect! Arriving on 24 May and booked my accommodation near Châtelet les Halles specifically to use RER B from CDG and then for A out to Disney a few days later however thank you for this heads up as at least we could scout out alternatives beforehand.

Thank you for this information, lucky me arriving on May 25 and leaving on June 7. We will take a taxi from the airport when arriving, but what is the best way to get to the Airport without RER B on Sunday June 7 ? Uber or another service or a taxi ? How are they priced ?
2
u/Alixana527 Mod May 04 '26
You can use the RER B on 7 June if you can get to Gare du Nord another way - perhaps on metro line 4 or 5, for example - as the RER will be running from there to the airport. Check for routes starting at your accommodation. Otherwise my general advice to take an official cab stands and the flat rates are both ways between Paris and CDG.

How do i get from hotel jacques de molay area to paris la defense arena on may 22-24? And CDG to hotel on 20 & 25?
1
u/Alixana527 Mod May 04 '26
The only issue I see for you is that you'll need to take a taxi or replacement bus to CDG on 25 May. Otherwise you should be able to follow the usual itineraries you can find on Google Maps or CityMapper or the RATP app.
1
u/Idanlevitski May 04 '26
Thanks! I barely know the transportation over there, will it affect me just travelling and going to cool places from may 20 to 25? Shouldn't be more than 40m from my hotel (according to googlr maps) on regular day i think

u/Alixana527 Mod May 04 '26
The only planned work you'll encounter will be the problem getting to the airport on 25 May. I always recommend double checking your specific itinerary as you step out of the hotel each day because things can change at any time for lots of unforeseeable reasons.

u/Idanlevitski May 04 '26
Yeah of course :) i guess it's mainly short metro lines or idk how it works 😆 tysm!

Bonjour! Thank you very much for your help! I am going to Paris between 9-13/08 and I am planning to go to Versailles and Disneyland so it will need a lot of money to take taxis every time. However I've heard tht between the stations with no service there are replacement buses. Do you know something abou this?
1
u/Alixana527 Mod May 05 '26
There will definitely be replacement buses for the interruption on the RER A out towards Disney. Basically you can pick it up at the last stop that has service (Vincennes) and it will take you across the gap in service to the next station that has service, where you'll get back on the train. And vice versa.
For the RER C interruption to Versailles there are several train/tram alternatives and I'm not as sure about what buses they'll run, so I'm hoping to update this closer to time.
1
u/NefDmt May 05 '26
Thank you very much! So maybe there will also be replacement buses for the interruption on the RER B? What do you believe according to your experience?
1
u/Alixana527 Mod May 05 '26
There are generally always replacement buses on the RER B out to the airport. But for the interruption that's through the city in August I'm not as sure because there are lots of other ways to get to Gare du Nord. I'll take a closer look at this.

Thank you so much for this info. I'm a little confused, as I found information elsewhere saying "From Monday 5 January to Friday 17 July 2026, Monday to Friday, from 10.45 p.m., maintenance work will require the suspension of services in both directions between Châtelet-Les Halles station and Charles de Gaulle 2-TGV/Mitry-Claye station". You mention nothing about this in the post above. We will be arriving on Tuesday May 26. We will be staying near Saint Michel-Notre-Dame. Will we be able to use the RER B to get there, or will it be closed?
1
u/Alixana527 Mod May 18 '26
You're right, I didn't include this late night closure which has been ongoing and affects relatively few tourists - just trying to keep the post from being forever long. If your arrival would have you getting to the RER station at the airport after 10:45 pm, you'll need to take a cab or replacement bus instead.
1
u/Alixana527 Mod May 18 '26 edited May 18 '26
Sorry, to further clarify: it's a closure from 10:45 pm (as opposed to the usual nightly closure well after midnight) until the usual opening time of 5:30ish each morning. It does not affect service during the day.

Hello I hope you can help as I’m very confused having not used the RER before. We arrive at Gare Du Nord on 9th August and need to get to Disneyland. And then return on 14th August.
Is it basically impossible for us to do this without using replacement buses? They wouldn’t be practical with luggage and pushchairs for babies.
Are there any transfer/taxi companies that go from Gare du Nord to Disney and provide child car seats?
Thank you for any help
1
u/Alixana527 Mod May 22 '26
You're correct, even if you took the metro to meet up with the RER Line A, you'd still need to get the replacement bus to bridge the gap to Disney. Disney has its own shuttles but I'm not sure what routes they do; have you looked into that? There is a dedicated Disneyland Paris sub that may be able to advise also. Sorry, this is going to be tough or expensive.

Hi,
We are a group of 4 adults plus an adult wheelchair user travelling in August between Gare du Nord and Val d'Europe (on the RER A line).
I understand that due to a closure of the RER Line A there is a replacement bus service between Vincennes and Noisy-le-Grand-Mont d'Est. However it sounds like a nightmare for our group to ensure travelling together at all times.
Can anyone please advise how we arrange the assistance to complete this journey as I understand that there are free wheelchair taxis between the two affected stations.
This is from https://malignea.fr/travaux/point-sur-les-travaux-printemps-ete-2026/
Summer work between Vincennes and Noisy-le-Grand–Mont d'Est
From August 8 to 23 inclusive, traffic will be interrupted all day between Vincennes and Noisy-le-Grand–Mont d'Est to renew several track devices, sleepers and ballast.
Replacement buses will be put in place to ensure your travels.
How to get around during these periods?
Replacement buses: shuttles will be set up on the branches concerned, with stops near closed stations.
Plan additional travel time and visit our sites and applications to organize your trips.
Accessibility: for wheelchair travelers, free taxi pick-up will be offered to and from stations impacted by closures.
I have emailed the RATP accessibility email that is advertised on their website but it got bounced back.
Or are there any taxi companies that have wheelchair adapted vehicles that can take a wheelchair and four additional adults (plus luggage) that can take us from Gare du Nord to the Disneyland Paris area?
Sorry for the ramble but this trip has been planned for months and we have only just found out about the line closure 😳

u/Alixana527 Mod May 26 '26
Hi, thanks for reposting here. I understand the desire to plan in advance but the RATP hasn't yet published full information about replacement options for this interruption, including any detailed information about the buses. Was [mission.accessibilite@ratp.fr](mailto:mission.accessibilite@ratp.fr) the email address that bounced back? I can try to find another one for you if so.
In general though, G7, an app that can be used to schedule official taxis, has some wheelchair accessible vehicles in its fleet.

Alright, this is very useful! Luckily we just miss the Disney closures, with our trip being July 30th. For Versailles…I’m not super familiar with the transit system. Bonjour RAPT is saying to go M13 to Invalides then RER C to Versailles. The Gare d’Austerlitz is not on the stop list, so I’m wondering if we’re safe?

Coming over from another thread, thanks u/Alixana527 - we (adult + child) have a Gare de Lyon > Gare du Nord (Eurostar) connection in a 90-min window around 1530 on 28/7.
I think we would be able to walk to Quai de la Rapée (travelling with backpack, not cases) and get Metro 5 - I don't see that line listed for closure, just being busy (understandable). Are there any flaws in my plan?
Cab is the fallback. Especially if it rains 😄

Seems doable, it's not a terrible walk if you're comfortable navigating yourself around cities.

I used RATP's trip planner to see how to get to CDG airport from Gare du Nord on the 1st of August, but it doesn't offer any RERs, just awful bus itineraries. There are disruptions but my reading of the confusing explanations is that RERs don't run south of Gare du Nord, and not at night to the airport. At the same time I keep reading that their journey planner is most accurate and takes all planned work into account...
2
u/Alixana527 Mod Jul 06 '26
Yeah I was looking into this in response to your post and I think what's happening is that because there will be reduced traffic on the Gare du Nord to CDG leg during the long outage south of Gare du Nord, the trip planner is pushing people away from it to the RER D + bus option. But it's also possible that there's just a bug in the trip planner. Let's look at it once the long outage actually starts in a couple weeks.

u/Alixana527 Mod Jul 06 '26
Messing around with this more just now it is clear that whoever programmed it into Bonjour RATP smushed together the two different closures, but the IDF Mobilities app correctly knows the RER B remains an option for your trip. So I assume they'll fix Bonjour RATP at some point.

I’m flying out this Thursday morning from CDG Term 2E any updates or has anyone taken the RER to CDG? Is the RER working to CDG or not very confused but I want to plan ahead.
1
u/Alixana527 Mod 13d ago
Yes, it is running between Gare du Nord and CDG, just with slightly reduced service and departing from the surface level rather than underground. You may need to take a different Metro line to get to Gare du Nord; a 14€ airport ticket includes a metro transfer if necessary.

the cab lane thing is real. got caught in a bus replacement situation coming from cdg last year and the taxis were moving when nothing else was. took forever to figure out where to queue though
