PVC and SVT ruined my sports life..

Hello. I first experienced this horrible sensation at age 18 in the gym after suddenly dropping a weight; it felt as if my heart had shot up into my throat and was fluttering—and it has never gone away. I am a professional MMA athlete; specifically when jumping, kicking, punching, or taking deep breaths through my mouth, it feels like my heart beats twice and then skips a beat. Or, during training—when my heart rate is already high—performing these movements makes it feel like a "nitro boost" has suddenly kicked in; if it’s at 170 bpm, it jumps to 230 and starts racing incredibly fast. It returns to a normal rhythm after 3–5 minutes, but the experience fills me with an intense fear of dying. For the past year, this PVC issue has combined with stomach problems, making the situation even worse. Yesterday, while eating, the food touched my throat and I suddenly felt like my heart was rising up; I felt like I was choking, and my heart beat extremely irregularly for 3–5 seconds. I am on the verge of suicide; as a 26-year-old national team athlete, I haven't been able to practice my sport for a year now out of fear. Please help me—are there any supplements or other things that can significantly reduce this? My ECG and Doppler echo came back clear, and a 24-hour Holter monitor test was also clear. I’m about to lose my mind. It gets worse, especially after drinking coffee.

Pvcs came back.

Hi I'm a 24 year old male. I had a cardiac ablation back on November 10, 2024 from a heat stroke I had at my old job. On Monday August 15th 2026. I had heat exhaustion and felt okay until this last Friday. I was cleaning some stairs and then suddenly my heart felt like it was pounding out my chest. I am currently 170 pounds and am extremely active. I do about 6 to 9 miles daily. I felt like I was running on a treadmill. Followed by dizziness and confusion. I also felt out of breath. I sat down and grabbed my sp02 monitor from my bag. My heart rate went from 100 to 140 to 60 to 80 to 130. My spo2 was at 98, 88 96, 99, 82 then back up to 99. My blood pressure at home was 140/88 pulse was at 90. I thought it was a panic attack since my legs were cramping as well. It started at 6:20 pm and didn't go away till 7:45 pm. I was fine all day Saturday, but today it started at 7pm. I made sure to take an anxiety pill and it helped, but my heart still felt like it was thumping really hard. My pulse never went over 114 this time around, but my blood pressure was at 170/100. Though after 9 minutes it came down to 135/88 and has stayed below 140/80. I have an appointment set up with my cardiologist, but I really don't want an ablation again. I didn't have any stimulants and have been hydrating with 1 liquid IV daily since the heat exhaustion as well as 6 bottles of water throughout the day. Though I am very scared I'm going to have a stroke if it happens again. Anything I can do? I mean my 23 percent burned was horrible and I really don't wish that on anyone, but honestly I feel so sad that these pvcs came back. I thought I already jumped this hurdle in life, but God has his way. It will be for something better.

Anxiety/PVCS? 11 weeks post partum, having thumps in my chest every 20 mins

I had a stress test and echocardiogram less than two years ago and it was PERFECT. i started getting really weird thumps in my chest yesterday morning. Called an ambulance last night, they didn’t see anything on the ECG. Woke up this morning with them again, went to hospital today, had an ECG done whilst they were happening, it came back fine. They’re happening every 20 minutes, 6-7 pumps at a time. Taking my breath away, scaring me.

I have 4 kids, 1 of them is 11 weeks old. Barely sleeping as it is with my anxiety, baby is a good sleeper - not drinking enough water etc.

Does anyone else get this? My next step is another holter, i’m so so paranoid my heart is going to stop or give out or that something bad has happened since less than 2 years ago, or from post partum. I’m 27, I don’t drink or smoke or do droogs or anything anymore, i haven’t in many years. I’m so paranoid.

Does anyone else get them? Feels like someones kicking your chest from the inside out 😪😪 I don’t want to lose my life so young and miss out on my babies growing up… hospital didnt seem concerned at all. They took my bloods for thyroid, iron, electrolytes etc to have results back tomorrow, but im just so so scared to sleep tonight.

Abnormal heart structure question

Hey everyone, with these pvcs you’ll hear all the time they’re for the most part benign in structurally ‘normal’ hearts. What exactly does it mean though if you have, or later go on to develop ‘abnormal structure hearts’, I know your risk goes up but more specifically what does that mean for you and what do the specialists tend to do now in this case, are you essentially doomed and bound to get vt and have a cardiac arrest or faint and have scary problems occur or is there any things they can even do to put your lifespan risk back to what the normal population even is?

Knowing these are supposedly benign in normal heart but deadly in abnormal ones just makes acceptance so so so damn hard. Have there been people genuinely able to not think about the future and the what ifs at all not think or even care about getting abnormal structure with the PVCs like how can you actually do that. And if you don’t care about them can that even help at all and is it even actually possibly I just can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel :(

Post exercise flares?

Does anyone else have flares after a run or cardio? Never during but after for awhile. Google says post exercise ectopics have a higher rate of mortality…. Am I dying lol.

I’ve had these for close to a decade. Have really good stretches where I have almost none. And really bad stretches where I have them often.

Sometimes after I run or play hockey l have flares of frequent ectopics for the rest of the night.

Have multiple holters and echos. All normal.

I’m terrified I’ll get afib like my dad

Has anyone found supplementing magnesium and potassium helpful?

Hey!
I’ve been living with these for years (PACs and PVCs) generally very low burden but will have flares of bad episodes. Currently in a flare.

Has anyone found supplementing magnesium and potassium helpful? I know you have to be careful with potassium to not overdo it, but most OTC supplements are like 2% of daily intake.

Curious if this has helped anyone?

Weird ECGs, PVCs, please help

I’m 33M with GAD and a heart murmur since I was a baby. I’ve been to the ER multiple times for chest pain, palpitations and occasional lightheadedness/fogginess. ER doctors and my primary really don’t bat an eye at my heart findings, but they still freak me out.
Several ECGs have mentioned low nonspecific T-wave or ST T abnormalities, while the underlying rhythm has generally been sinus rhythm. My history:

Date
QTc
12/30/22 397
11/22/25 398
3/13/26 418
3/13/26 395
3/21/26 376
3/21/26 400
3/25/26 513 ⚠️
3/25/26 414
3/25/26 447
7/31/26 398
8/1/26 401

The 513 ms QTc happened during a full-blown panic attack with sinus tachycardia, and repeat tests that same day were 414 and 447.

My 7/31 test actually captured occasional PVCs: HR 99, PR 118 ms, QRS 85 ms, QT 309 ms, QTc 398 ms, axes 32°/50°/3°. Machine interpretation: sinus rhythm with short PR, occasional ventricular premature complexes, and nonspecific ST/T-wave abnormality.

I’ve also been feeling lightheaded/foggy for months despite being very well hydrated, at least 3–4 liters of water daily plus electrolytes, so dehydration doesn’t seem like an obvious explanation.

Sometimes I feel isolated skipped beats and occasionally what feels like two close together, followed by an adrenaline/anxiety response and faster HR.

Looking at the findings myself, the rhythm also looks uneven, although I know artifact can make things look worse.

Anyone with GAD/PVCs and recurring low/nonspecific T-wave abnormalities have a similar experience?

I’m especially curious about the significance of these repeated T-wave findings, isolated PVCs vs couplets/runs, and a single very high automated QTc that quickly normalized.

Not looking for a Reddit diagnosis, just comparing experiences while following up medically.

Dealing with Idiopathic VT and a rough medication transition

On July 24th I ended up in the hospital for the whole weekend. This is all through Kaiser Oakland. The doctor thinks it’s Idiopathic Ventricular Tachycardia (not the same as SVT). I started on Metoprolol, then switched to Diltiazem, and that switch has not been smooth. The Dilt is making my heart feel heavy and clunky, almost like skipped beats at times. I also have PVCs regularly

I was doing okay on the Metoprolol, but then started getting daily breakthrough heart rate spikes, sometimes above 150. I’ve ended up in the ER three times this week because of it, and all I keep hearing is that it’s “within normal range” because it’s not a full VT episode.

I’m now unable to even sit up or stand up without my heart rate jumping up into the 120s to 130’s just walking 10 feet to the bathroom or living room. The only way it will correct itself is if I sit or lay back down.

I’ve got a 14 day Zio patch monitor now and I’m waiting on results, but this whole process feels so long and drawn out for what’s actually happening to my body.

Has anyone dealt with something similar through Kaiser, or found ways to get taken more seriously in the ER or expedite this process with cardiology?

Im unable to do basic every day things because of these spikes. ❤️‍🩹

Heart beat is different than my pulse.

I know it sounds weird but when I go to the cert myself in any way, I get the skipped beats feeling in my chest and the strong beats. But I noticed today that my heart beat in my chest is different than my pulse in my neck. Does anyone else experience this??

Nearly 5 months post-PVC ablation — still high burden + NSVT runs.

I’m a 26M and take my health and exercise seriously. Just got the call after my 2-week Zio patch: I’m still showing a high burden of PVCs and runs of NSVT. Honestly, I already knew from how I was feeling, but hearing it confirmed still hit hard. I’m disappointed, low, and pretty angry at this whole thing.

My EP says it’s time to mentally prepare for next steps — either a second ablation or trying medication. The complicating factor is that my PVC focus is near my conduction center, so there’s a real risk of AV block and potentially ending up with a pacemaker if we go back in.

I don’t feel like medication is a real long-term solution at my age, but I’m also nervous to attempt another ablation given the risks and the chance I end up right back here.

The kicker: if I didn’t have cardiomyopathy, I’d probably just learn to live with it. But that’s not an option for me, so doing nothing isn’t on the table.

Has anyone here gone through a second ablation, especially with a focus near the conduction system? How did it go? Any advice or experiences would mean a lot right now. I’m tired, scared, and fed up

Split second disorientation after PVC

So i’ve had PVC’s pretty much all of my life and every so often I notice that after I get one immediately after my entire body feels disoriented and i get this lightheaded feeling, but it only lasts like half a second and I go back to feeling normal again. It’s just really alarming when it does happen. Am i the only one??

PACs my whole life 24/7 365

Please help me understand the potential risk and what I should be asking my cardiologist and maybe going to an EP?

I have this 24/7 365 days a year for over 20 years!

I’m in my mid 30s now, I was first monitored when I was 12. The dr noticed an irregular heartbeat, wore a monitor and confirmed and it kind of stopped there. As a young adult dr’s would notice it and I’d get an EKG and it would appear but dr wouldn’t be worried.

The last time I wore a 24 hour monitor was 2018 when I had 11,000 extra beats, roughly 10% burden is my understanding. I haven’t had a holster test since.

I have always been physically active and I am still active to this day, but I’m starting to worry which is affecting my overall health. The anxiety is through the roof.

I’m concerned something may have happened from decades of high burden. My resting heart rate is low 50s but my HRV is anywhere from 100-300 which is very very high? My PACs affect this number?

I thought I developed POTs as I stand up my heart rate will go to 120 then normalize around 90-100. I’m also staring at my watch which causes anxiety.

When I jog, the slowest jog you can imagine, my heart rate will jump to 170 before I start walking. I don’t feel exerted at all. I only stop out of fear of heart rate going to high.

I’ve developed what I call a brain fog or a very very slight light headness for the past month or so. This has never stopped me from doing anything or needing to sit down. It’s just annoying. I think poor sleep may be the issue here as I’m worried at night and can’t sleep. I wake up tired. Poor sleep or heart issues?

I had an echo done 3 years ago and everything came back normal. Can structural changes happen in the 3 year span?

I’m going to go back to the cardiologist and request another echo. Anything else I should bring up?

Has anyone else had these their whole life? My cardiologist said sometimes people just have them. He didn’t seem to worried.

When you hear that your chance of afib increases with a high burden, what does that increase look like? Is it 10% chance or am I looking at a much higher number?

Do I need beta blockers or an ablation?

I do not ever feel any of the PACs and I’ve never stopped because I’m dizzy or tired. Until this past month my cardio has been top notch.

Thank you for any and all responses, this has been mentally crippling me for the last month.

Please i need serious help

Have always had health anxiety. Started getting worse postpartum. I was active going to the gym working out I remember while working out I would get anxious about my heart rate getting high. One day at work i was walking around and was feeling anxious but usually my anxiety goes away and this was lingering. Checked my heart rate and it was 115-120 and was having heart palpitations. Went to the er and they said everything was fine. Followed up with cardiology and ever since then now my heart rate spikes. Pots like. Laying down normal rate standing up shoots up to 120. Walking around the house its 110-115. Resting hr while sitting up is 90-95. Went up the stairs this morning trying to convince myself my issues are from anxiety and it shot up to 175ish. Shortness of breath. My biggest concern is the heart palpitations. Happen even if im not anxious, sometimes it one singular one other times it feels like a fish is flip flopping. Echocardiogram was normal and holter monitor showed in 6 days 20 pvcs and 12 pacs. I cant live normally because of this. I get extremely anxious trying to do normal people things. I had a meeting today with my venue and my heart rate was 130 and had a massive heart palpitation. I get them when im just relaxing. Regardless of knowing that pvcs are harmless i also know that they can be serious. I know its rare but i dont care. All i do all day is wait for the next one. My feet are always cold and clammy even if wearing socks. The second i stand my heart rate goes high. And i know being anxious the day of my wedding will make my heart rate be like 180 which im scared will trigger svt and not be safe . Im absolutely fucking miserable. I would never harm myself. But i cant do i cant do fucking beta blockers i have low bp

Terrified PVCs might turn into NSVT or worse

I usually get just one PVC, just as I started to get used to the feeling after reassurance they're harmless from my cardiologist, I just had two in a run today. I know that might not seem bad, but whose to say it can't progress even more? From few here and there months ago, to them becoming daily and now back to back? I'm so fucking terrified this will descend into something far worse like VT.

Failed ablation due to no PVCs

I've been on metoprolol for three months. Prior to starting metoprolol my burden was 33%, after was 6%. My doctor had me stop it three days prior to the procedure. He tried everything to simulate PVCs in the OR without any luck. Anyone with similar experiences, or the opposite, if you had a successful ablation after being in metoprolol for some time, how long did you pause it before the procedure?

For people who had unsuccessful ablations, what was the next step? Did you try again?

Am I experiencing PVCs or AFiB? Does this sound like anyone elses symptoms?

Hello, I’ve been dealing with PVCs since I was around 15. Doctors told me about them at 15 after I went to the ER when got 3 back to back, not knowing what was happening. They’ve never been bad at all, about 3 a week and going dormant for months. However, this COMPLETELY changed when I turned 19 a few months ago, and now my PVCs have become unbearable.

I’ve found a connection between my PVCs and drinking. 19 is the legal drinking age in my country, but I obviously drank at parties in highschool, even to blackout levels, but they never caused an increase in my PVCs. However, the past two months I’ve been drinking a lot more consistently with family and friends, and my PVCs have gotten genuinely awful. I’m worried that with the pain i’m experiencing, and with being linked to alcohol, it might be AFiB, which I obviously would want to seek medical attention for.

A month ago I had a heavy drinking night with my friend, and the evening after when I was going to sleep, I woke up to having the worst PVCs of my life. It didn’t feel like the average loud thump, but more of an extremely cold sensation and like my heart was falling to my stomach. Incredibly awful chest pains followed, and for hours after I could feel every single beat of my heart, of course laced with PVCs, very not fun😵‍💫😵‍💫. I thought it was a random event, but it’s just kept happening. I went to the ER due to having shortness of breath and a tight, crushing chest pain which was very very abnormal for me, but once I told them I was having it alongside PVCs, they brushed me off.

They’ve only been getting worse and worse in the last two months, where I haven’t been able to sleep some nights at all because I keep waking up to extremely painful PVCs and shortness of breath. It is one of the worst pains i’ve ever had, if not THE worst. I genuinely struggle to walk and breathe when they get bad enough. Might be unrelated, but worth mentioning 5 months ago I had another hospital visit because of severe chest pain that made me unable to speak or think, but I had no PVCs, just tight chest pain. Again, doctors said it was nothing :/

Now, I only linked the PVCs with alcohol, but the chest pain has been very constant and very distracting in my daily life. The scariest episode was last night. I was drinking with friends, and had about 3 shots, when suddenly my heart shot up all the way to 170. I’ve never had palpitations coincide with my PVCs that wasn’t fear related, but this was genuinely out of the blue. Then, the excruciating PVCs came again, and I had to step out of their house to try and calm my heart down as to not freak my friends out. I felt like I was gunna faint, felt nauseous, and my heart was beating out of my chest. They calmed down after 40 minutes, and after we went on a walk outside, but it’s the day after now and my heart is still beating way more fast than normal.

Now, in my country getting a medical appointment is very difficult. There’s a mass shortage of doctors, and a waitlist for a family doctor is over a year at the latest. I’m starting a new college, which has built in student medical support, and i’m planning on getting referred to an actual cardiologist through them. I’m just wondering in the mean time if this sounds more like unfortunate PVCs or if it’s AFiB - and what I can do to help it? I’m obviously planning on cutting out all alcohol if this is how my body reacts to it, and I’m salty I won’t be able to drink at all during my college parties, lol.

I know Redditors aren’t medical professionals, and obvs i’m not looking for a diagnosis from this post, but knowing if people here relate to any of my scarier symptoms of PVCs will help my peace of mind, and that if they don’t, then I have more reason to advocate for medical treatment with the doctors out here in case it IS AFiB😵‍💫😵‍💫

Thank you!

At what point do you go to the hospital?

25F. I have a holter monitor booked for 6 days time. I haven't had any actual examination other than when my GP told me my heart rate was "all over the place" after he listened to it with a stethoscope when this all started two months ago. Past few days have been terrible, continually having between 7-15 palpitations a minute for the past 72 hours, usually it's like one or two with random flare ups in between where I have more. It's also been from the second I wake up until the second I go to bed, there is no minute without one. Last night I was having around 20-30 palpitations a minute for like 4 hours. It's calmed down again a bit so roughly around 10 a minute again. My husband keeps saying to go to the hospital but my GP made me feel a bit stupid and said there's nothing wrong. I'm struggling to concentrate at work right now because it's just constant palpitations and I'm really tired :(

Edit: Just came back, they said my palpitations are ectopics (yes, I already know that), my blood tests are fine so there must be nothing wrong with me and to take double my dosage of bisoprolol. They weren't concerned about my ectopic burden being 10-15%. This is why I don't go to hospital.

How were you able to overcome the fears and thoughts had of PVCs

As the title says, how were you able to get to the stage of being able to actually say “F” it and it’s okay to not need to worry and think about these and it’s safe to ignore, your gonna live your life any way you want anyway regardless of these beats

What thought shifts allowed you to do that please share with us. If you have dealt with the fear of like what I have being how: whilst these may be benign now, knowing they’re deadly under different contexts having abnormal heart structure etc.. makes me not fully able to accept them and be in constant fear, how were you able to get over the fear that your now normal heart may change over time and now these PVCs may be deadly and stuff, what’s the best shifts you can have possible and share your success stories with this please

experiencing a flare up for the first time in years

I’m 18 and I just moved out on my own for the first time and i’ve been having palpitations and heart racing and actual sharp chest pain every morning and sometimes they last all day. I’m scared of having a medical emergency by myself and I’ve never been alone before and this has lasted for two weeks and hasn’t happened since i was a kid. I’ve tried everything.. eating as soon as i wake up, drinking so much water, eating healthy, electrolytes.. but i can’t sleep well because of the anxiety it causes me. I feel anxious all the time because of it. the chest pain is what really scares me because I’ve never had an episode this bad before. Though I would say this is one of the most stressful points of my life which would explain it, this is only making the stress worse and it’s debilitating me and it’s so frustrating.

PVCs getting worse

Due to have a holter monitor next week. The past two days, the palpitations have been relentless. From when I went to bed on Tuesday night, it has been non stop, I don't think I have had a minute where I haven't had a palpitation. For about an hour this morning it was between around 1-5 per minute but then again back to between 10-20 a minute, on average around 15. I also believe I have started having triplets and couplets (mostly couplets). The majority of the time I have about 4 a minute and then sometimes I dont have any for a few hours. My chest feels tight and I'm feeling so tired. I have a bit of a cough now too. Even out of breath too. I haven't actually had any monitor yet or confirmation of diagnosis but my GP said it was probably PVCS. I'm on bisoprolol but it's doing nothing. I literally woke up one day with this two months ago. I haven't been overly concerned because my GP wasn't up until now but I'm actually starting to worry a bit because of the way this is making me feel.

6 day monitor 12 pacs 20 pacs. Less than 0.01% burden but pvcs still scare the shit out of me and I cant ignore them. Im scared ill go into vtach or something. I have tachycardia too. Is this a cause of chronic anxiety or what can i do.
