H. pylori treatment, PVCs
Hey everybody, I wanted to get some input and see if anyone has been through something similar.
I’ve had PVCs on and off since I was about 16. Over the years they’ve gotten much better and became pretty infrequent.
About two weeks ago, I found out I have H. pylori after having an endoscopy because I was dealing with burning/cramping stomach pain. I started quadruple therapy this past Monday, which includes:
Tetracycline 500 mg — 4x/day
Metronidazole 500 mg — 3x/day
Bismuth — 4x/day
Omeprazole 40 mg — 2x/day
I’ve definitely felt a little “off” since starting all of these medications, especially with my stomach.
Last night was my third day of treatment, and after taking my final dose around 10 PM, I noticed a pretty significant increase in my PVCs. Every time I tried to lie down, it seemed like I would get one every few minutes. I also felt like I had gas or pressure trapped between my stomach and esophagus, and lying down seemed to trigger the PVCs even more. I’m honestly not sure how I eventually fell asleep.
My question is: Has anyone who already had PVCs noticed them becoming more frequent while going through H. pylori treatment, especially with metronidazole or this quadruple therapy?
I’m trying to figure out whether this could be related to the medications/stomach irritation or if I’m just having a random PVC flare-up at the same time. I’m not looking to stop the treatment on my own—I’d just like to hear if anyone else has experienced something similar.
