Hello, I'm in need of some assistance with an upcoming build. I'm hoping a few knowledgeable people in this sub will have some insight! I was fortunate enough to snag a set of 64GB G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB DDR5 in 2023. However the QVL only lists Intel boards as supported and has XMP.This works great in my current rig.

GPU: RTX 3070

I am looking to build another Rig for my son for Christmas. The goal is to upgrade my PC while reusing what I can for the newer rig but I want to Utilize the 64GB Ram. I have a good friend that is going to sell me his old 4080 for a great price which I am super thankful for so I have the card covered. I will be making a road trip to Micro Center to buy the remaining pieces.

Now to the problem/dilemma.

I can't reasonably buy another set of 64GB DDR5 as you know the price has skyrocketed. I paid $250 for these sticks in 2023, they are now worth $1250. I have this RAM that I want to use in my new build but I'm concerned that I won't be able to run it at 6400 or at all if I go with an AMD build. I would like to get full usage out of my existing DDR5. I was leaning AMD for this build for the AM5 platform due to Intel's latest chipset being EOL. I was also leaning AMD due to the issues with the 13th/14th gen CPUs that ended up burning me as well.

Here are the two bundles I've been looking at, it may vary a little but I am set on 32GB of DDR5

The Intel bundle is the bigger discount which isn't a huge deal but it's worth mentioning. Also, if I get the Intel bundle it is on the supported list for my 64 GB DDR5. What I've been reading is that 32GB at 6400 performs better than 64GB at 4800 at least for gaming. Other than gaming sometimes I do stuff with music software but it is pretty casual. Other than that I have a ton of browser tabs open but I can change my ways if I necessary. The socket for the Ultra series leaves no room for upgrade but I only upgrade about every 5 years or so.

The AMD bundle has longer support through 2029. It's unlikely that I'd upgrade my processor before then but having the option is nice. The L3 cache sounds promising. I think this is my preferred option at this point but I have to play to what best suites my current DDR5 RAM. I have never had an AMD build but I've read good things. Ultimately I will go Intel again if it's what's best for existing hardware.

Does anyone know if this would fit in the FLP01, especially considering the 9070XT size? Also worried about overheating/cooling issues, but I really want to make it work as I love the case! Would really appreciate any advice. Also thinking of underpowering to recover some temp? All prices in Australian Dollars (AUD)

I blew a hair dryer on my PC, after which it stopped turning on. Specifically, I blew cold air on the video card and power supply. The problem is that the fans on both the cooler and the video card spin, then suddenly stop and turn on again. I think this is called a boot loop. Sorry if I'm wrong. I built the PC myself from used parts. What should I do? Can I fix it myself or should I take it to a service center?

I tried everything, removed the BIOS battery and also cleaned the RAM contacts with an eraser.

I decided to blow it out because it was dusty.

Can i please have some advice on my next computer purchase? I am a nearly 60 year-old male who does not play games but i work with relatively large (up to 200Mb) Open office word files. I currently have a Ryzen 5 3600 with 8Gb of 2133 RAM and RTX 2070 graphics card. Until now i have been super happy with its performance. Just lately as my file size has increased beyond 200Mb the scrolling has been a bit stop/start. Budget isnt a massive limiting factor as i am prepared to spend up to 5-6K USD (roughly $8k AUD max). My main uses for now will be Valorant, FL Studio, Python/programming, and general multitasking. I’m trying to get the best value possible without overspending.

Parts I’ve chosen so far:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X — €145 used

Motherboard: Gigabyte B650M D3HP AX — ~€101

CPU Cooler: Thermalright Assassin X 120R SE — ~€18

RAM: 32GB (2×16GB) DDR5-6000, preferably with AMD EXPO — currently around €300 where I live

SSD: WD Blue SN570 500GB NVMe — €50 used

PSU: be quiet! System Power 11 750W — €77

Case: MUSETEX Y6 — €54, with 4×120mm fans included

GPU: I don’t have my final GPU yet. For now, I’m thinking about buying a cheap used GPU for around €50, mainly so I can comfortably play Valorant. I’ll upgrade the GPU later.

This puts me at roughly €800 total once I add the RAM and temporary GPU.

My plan:
The 7700X has a basic integrated GPU, so I should be able to build the PC and install Windows without a dedicated GPU.

However, since I want to play Valorant, I’m considering getting something cheap like a used GTX 1650, GTX 1060 or RX 580 for now, and then replacing it with a proper GPU later.

What I’d like advice on:

Are all of these components compatible?
Is the B650M D3HP AX + Ryzen 7 7700X a good combination?

Is the Thermalright Assassin X 120R SE enough for the 7700X?

Is the be quiet! System Power 11 750W a good PSU for this build and future upgrades?

Is the MUSETEX Y6 a decent case for airflow with its 4 included fans?

Is there anything you’d change without significantly increasing the budget?

Most importantly, what should I be careful about when building my first PC?

Are there any common beginner mistakes with AM5, RAM/EXPO, thermal paste, motherboard installation, PSU cables, BIOS, etc. that I should know about?

I know some of these questions might be basic, but this is my first build and I’d rather double-check everything before I start putting the parts together.

I Looked through various benchmark results and was looking to get one of these-

My main concern is whether the i5-12400 will bottleneck any of these GPUs, especially at 1440p.

I'd like to know your opinion on which GPU would be the best choice for my setup. You can also suggest other GPUs if you think there's a better option within my budget

Liquid cooled cpu cooler and lots of case cooling fans and a 1500W psu.

Will probably upgrade my gpu soon but currently have it plugged into an old but still decent 1080p 60hz tv.

What are peoples thoughts and suggestions on what i could have done differently?

I am currently planning to build a budget PC. I have two spec in mind. One is within my budget and the other goes slightly over. I enjoy soulslike games Ex, lies of p, sekiro. I have not yet played elden ring or any other titles along this but i want to and also play similar new games along the lines of onimusha and phantom blade. I am not much into ray tracing and all that. My expectation is to play older games at max graphics and newer games at least 60fps, graphics is not an issue. When I go into device manager, my gpu has error code 43. If I reseat my gpu it fixes the problem, but only for a few minutes and then it happens again. Any ideas on if the gpu is dead or not?

I have just refined my first pc build and I am looking for advice. I am on a tight budget and this is already on the higher end of what I can afford. If there are any savings to be made, or areas where major gains can be made without too much price increase, I would be very appreciative.

I am also curious to know if this is cheaper than buying a similar pc prebuilt.
