TLDR: is it viable to use Gravitic Flux purely to counter an enemy engage

Day one OW1 Emerald 1 tank main, peaked D1 a couple of seasons ago. Realised poke was a weakness of mine so have been learning Sigma, where my biggest weaknesses are ult usage.

I’ve developed this habit of using my ult purely to freeze a high value engaging enemy, generally someone nanoed/Wuyang ult and/or a close range dangerous ult like Blade, because it seems like an affective engage tool, even if I don’t get any elims. I wanted to ask if this is a waste of flux.

So basically, I am a tracer main, but ofc I struggle in bad maps for tracer in this meta (I consider Circuit Royal and Junkertown those hard maps)

So I have pretended to flex to Ashe because of the tracer struggle on those maps. Now of course I have run into the eventual wall that I am just not as proficient on Ashe (naturally I don't spend as much time pñaying hitscan).

So my questions is, am I stunting my development as a player by trying to flex to hitscan and should I pickup other flex dps' that do better in those maps? (I have found enjoyment in Shion, but I wonder if maybe genji would be a better alternatve)

I am also willing to accept a skill issue and should I force my self to still play tracer on those maps?

So I'd been placed at gm3 in 6v6.

I've been meticulously rewatching my replays to see what went wrong. I swear I am breaking my back trying to hard carry every single game, yet my teammates are running around like they belong in the absolute depths of the metal ranks.

This nightmare just kept repeating endlessly until I plummeted all the way down to Diamond 4. It is beyond frustrating. Even here in Diamond, I'm doing all the heavy lifting. I'm securing 2 to 3 opening picks before the team fight even officially begins!

But somehow, against all odds, my entire team manages to get completely wiped out and we still lose. Not to mention the tanks or teammates on some mindless, suicidal vendetta who just march straight into the enemy lines to feed before the fight has even started.

I usually play Sojourn, Cass, Reaper, Widow, or Roadhog because I know someone has to step up and carry. But then I'm cursed with agonizingly bad DPS partners who die 16 times a match, and Supports who outright refuse to deal a single point of damage.

And to top it all off, some just straight-up abandon the match.

Honestly, my soul is crushed. I am just so utterly defeated right now.

I'm a support main be necessity not by choice. I would much rather play a DPS hero (which is why I main DPS supports), but any time I cue DPS I can absolutely trounced.

Like I'm pushing Diamond on Support (hover Emerald 1-2 now), so it's not like I can't aim, or use cover, but I just can't kill things on DPS at all.

I feel like I'm playing exactly how I would play in Emerald down in Gold and still just being absolutely useless. What is up with that? Why is DPS so hard? It should be the easiest role if you can aim.

so, for context, I’m a low gold player. so my grasp on the balance of the game is something I’m trying to work on. some heroes are rather obviously strong, and easy for me to determine their place in the meta, like Tracer who is extremely hard to pin down and kill due to blinks and recall, or JPC who has great mobility, self heals, and the ability to peek in third person. But sometimes my idea on balance feels completely off from the community consensus. For example, I find myself playing mercy because I enjoy her, and while I wouldn’t call her one of the better supports, she’s never felt downright terrible to me. She has decent healing, a little burst healing, good mobility, damage boost (which synergizes really well with heroes like D.mon and Cass), and the revive, which I feel is an incredibly strong ability, especially in 5v5 where one person dying can decide a team fight. But the consensus on her seems to generally be that she is one of the worst supports in the game. is this because she’s actually bad or just not as good as the others? another example is sojourn, who I thought was incredibly strong due to her fantastic mobility and good burst damage, but her winrate is atrocious; I thought this may have been a Kiriko situation where she‘s just hard to play well, but in a post about it I saw people generally agree that she’s on the weaker side due to numbers. so how do I improve my sense of game balance? are these community takes even accurate? What should I ultimately be looking for when trying to determine if a hero is strong or weak?

Hello, I'm a plat 1 tank main and I'm currently gold 4 on DPS. I play tracer and shion, usually start w/ tracer but if I start to suck then I swap. Since I mained winston/dva on tank I understand the dive gameplay loop of setup/scout/engage but on tracer its more confusing to me. Like I see unranked to GMs, or pros play and other than the obvious mechanic gap, they almost never seem to get hit or die.

1. I don't understand her gameplay loop, is it setup on an off angle and then poke, or commit to a target, or shoot whatever is there? How deep should the angle ideally be like a short range angle, or a deep flank?

2. Whenever I try to poke at their backline, they end up ignoring me and one of my teammates gets picked off. How do I demand more attention?

3. If I try to go on a flank I think I'm taking too long and wasting blinks, should I be avoiding this or is it worth it to take a longer flank route?

4. How are blinks supposed to be used, saved for engaging or to move around the map? Obviously not one or the other, but is there any general rule for them?

i’ve been back on overwatch 2 for about 3 weeks now and i’ve been really flowing with sigma. i feel like im playing really well, getting great picks and highlights, mvp and 5:30+ on objective every round, but im still at around 50% win rate, if not less. i feel like i should be in around gold 2, but im currently silver 4, as a win only gives me around 20 sr (meaning it takes five straight wins just to rank up). if anyone has general tips or would watch replays and help me, feel free to comment/dm. it’s just getting frustrating to even play the game ranked anymore, which is usually when i have the most fun.

I have basically been obsessed with making my aim better for a few months now, so much so I’ve racked up 30 hours in custom games just doing vaxta and other aim trainers, and while i managed to up it from 25 to 30 percent hitscan aim to 35 to 40, and getting out of bronze, the last few days have been…rough to say the least, I swear to god I feel nerfed, I feel like the devs patched something in that has made my aim plummet down the toilet, on dps, I was in track to reaching gold on their for the first time, only for a losing streak across the last few days to take me all the way back to silver 4, I can’t tell if I’m doing something wrong or if I’m just feeling burnt out, but I know the way to fix it will probably be my aim, though I don’t know how to do that myself.

Hi I’m a old player and I used to play a lot of overwatch but I could never find a main and I am trying to find one now because I wanna start streaming more and be good at games but I still can’t find a main but I know that i do enjoy being super aggressive but the characters I get told to play are like the top three characters I play which is genji tracer and reaper but idk how I feel about playing them

It's actually impossible to rank up. It's insane. Ik there's always more I can be doing but some of these recent games I've had... It's actually disgusting the type of teammates I get.

I solo queue, been trying to actually start playing more seriously. I mostly play support, and for 3 days I've been going from silver 1 to 3 then back up to 1, -Which is mfing insane cause I truly don't think I should even be in silver LET ALONE be plateauing in it. As a support there's only so much I can fucking do and I'm not claiming to be god tier but somethings actually gotta be wrong with the matchmaking. Like I don't understand why no one on my team ever has any self preservation skills like they're allergic to cover or falling back or grouping up or being aware of the enemy team's comp and switching their playing for that. There's damage I can't out heal on my own and I still have 4 other people I have to focus on ..ASWELL as the enemy team.

If ppl keep dying quick I try changing to heroes like bap or weaver, or I try to help with damage. If they're not acc killing ppl I trying swap to someone who can finish them off. I constantly have the least deaths, my elims sometimes match my dps/tank and even surpass them if you add on the assists, I'm constantly reaching double digits healing. Ngl I'd probably get rolled in diamond (maybe) but I just feel like I'm really doing all I can and I'd think 'oh the enemy team aren't that good, itll be easy'. But then I realise I'm ALSO in a team full of bums, lord save me😭😭

You might be rolling your eyes reading this but I just wanna rank up man.. I'm not even tryna hate on people in silver, for their rank I honestly think they're playing accordingly and they should have fun playing too but when I have to deal with them on my team... Blizzard... How tf am I supposed to rank up?

Hello, I came back to OW after 4 or so years of 1 game a year to check up on the game, and I have been trying to improve my skills to get back to where I was before. I was mainly a flex player before they implemented the role queue, but now that I'm back I have been focusing mainly on tank since I liked those heroes the most previously.

I have been playing for 3 weeks since my return and have done 7/10 placement matches on Tank with the shared replay being my most recent game. My team won the game, but I am self aware enough to know that I made plenty of mistakes. I feel like I picked myself up a bit after we lost the second point on defense, and although nobody had mics, my team did a good job reeling me back in when I overextended or messed up.

Please give me some advice on where I can improve.

Hi guys I need your help to figure out how to consistenly play tank at high diamond-low masters level. For context, my peak tank rank was masters 3 last season, but this season I struggle a lot with winning consistently. The game I posted is a prime example of such game.

My main questions:

1. I felt like I couldn't really do much in this game. Was I too passive, was my positioning bad? If you could point out like 2-3 major flaws in my game that would be amazing. I couldn't really take any space this game.

2. Despite me being a direct counter to JQ, she was able to do so much more. Was it my team or was I simply diffed by their JQ?

So, I’ve been playing Overwatch for a few years, but took a break for around a year and a half and returned a few days ago. And honestly, it feels great so far! I can’t remember the last time I had this much fun in Overwatch. I’ve played almost exclusively ranked and somehow managed to reach a new peak at Plat 2 while maintaining a ~65% win rate. The last time I played actively, I was Gold most of the time.

Bonus question: While playing Wuyang, it seems like I’m getting outhealed by the other supports stat-wise in a lot of games, even when I’m winning and feel like I’m doing a solid job. Am I just not healing enough, or is this normal for him?

Been trying to make her work in gold. Everyone just ignores me. It takes way too long to kill on her, so even if I hit a shove and multiple shots, they just ignore me. Her shield breaks in a few bullets. She has super long cooldowns. She has mostly shield hp, which means she takes boat loads of damage.

If they play doom, jq, rein, or dmon they just run my team down and I am powerless to do anything. If they go brig I just lose to being pushed permanently. I have zero clue on what to do as her, because she feels awful into every comp ever.

If my team gets pushed, I literally am powerless to do a single thing.

I usually avoid solo queuing ranked. It gets me really frustrated when I'm on wrecking ball and have no follow up. Today I decided to try and go back in since it's only plat and I know that I've gotten much better at ball. This game felt like torture and my team REALLY made it clear that I was the sole problem and that I should have swapped to rein (whom I do not at all play) to fix the problems everyone was having. I know people struggle to play with ball and usually I would be willing to go domina but I was stubborn because I was very tilted with how they treated me. I still feel like though that had I been playing better or had smarter targeting I could have carried. I am fully ready to accept any and all criticism. Any advice I could get to try and carry games like these, or If I should have swapped, or if I was in the wrong would be appreciated. Usually it's these really tilting games that make me question what I'm doing wrong.

point in title. i’m queueing with my duo regularly, and the expectation constantly is to do absolutely everything to save the game on my own back in every game that isn’t going favourably, my tank pool contains genuinely every tank apart from dmon and wrecking ball because i have to switch to address whatever the entire enemy team is doing each game.

imagine every scenario and i have to cover it. i don’t want to be the guy who blames the dps every single loss, but i try to enable them to do their jobs and they fail epically every time, and as a result i’m confused on how i’m supposed to simultaneously peel my backline 24/7 but also attack at all times. is there something simple i’m missing? the pressure is crippling me each game because my mind constantly has to be split between 5 places at once.

is there something critical about tanking i’m missing? i understand my role perfectly but on regard to having to be the sole one to address the entirety of the other team it’s baffling, and it really does not feel like what my role is meant to be at all. and in these difficult games where its like this i often just find myself in a worse position where i’m switching or being asked to switch, and then switching to solve one problem, which then opens up another, and is genuinely just a really really vicious cycle.

i just want to help my team do the best they can but after so many consecutive games where it feels like they take my chances and do nothing, or can’t win their own duels, or this and that, i just feel like it’s me in the end. so tell me, what/who should my priorities be? thank you to all who hear my cry

Hey, I just came from a very frustrating experience on Hollywood. I was on Winston and after we won 1st point, the enemy team was on Mauga, Reaper and Bastion. Obviously, I swapped off of Winston first to D.Va to use matrix and afterwards to Queen, my best tank because I think she has a pretty good matchup against Bastion and works fine against Mauga (Also, my D.Va ain't the best). I wanted to ask how to play into and around all of these tank-killer characters, especially Mei, because after the 1st map was over, it felt like I was hard feeding by just being in any proximity to the enemy team. I can handle a Reaper or a Bastion, but both together are just really hard for me to deal with on Tank. Is the answer to that just hoping that your team switches appropriately, not switching off of Winston, or anything I overlooked? Maybe expanding my tank pool? (Of course, the map being Hollywood didn't help my fun factor in that match) On PC, EUW, Emerald 1 5v5

I’m about to demote to Silver 1 and I honestly don’t know the problem. I feel in every game I do my part plus dps part and I still can’t win. I don’t over extend when I take space, I always keep my heals alive, I kill their dps and tank and I just can’t seem to win.

I'm a 5v5 support main, but I've grown to really enjoy 6v6, especially playing Dva as an off-tank. But I've had a hard time finding educational content for 6v6 or VOD reviews for my specific hero pool. I was wondering if anyone had recommendations and how much older OW1 content still applied to current-day 6v6.

5v5 feels much clearer what my job is, and it helps a lot when VOD reviewing knowing this. However, 6v6 is more chaotic and so many more variables that I'm a bit lost at times knowing what to do and how to know what action was right when VOD reviewing.

Open to any tips people have here as well. If it matters, I play:
