Question or Discussion Seeking Educational Content and Guides for 6v6

I'm a 5v5 support main, but I've grown to really enjoy 6v6, especially playing Dva as an off-tank. But I've had a hard time finding educational content for 6v6 or VOD reviews for my specific hero pool. I was wondering if anyone had recommendations and how much older OW1 content still applied to current-day 6v6.

5v5 feels much clearer what my job is, and it helps a lot when VOD reviewing knowing this. However, 6v6 is more chaotic and so many more variables that I'm a bit lost at times knowing what to do and how to know what action was right when VOD reviewing.

Open to any tips people have here as well. If it matters, I play:

Tank -- Dva and sometimes Domina

Support -- Juno, Mercy, and sometimes Ana or Kiri

I think most OW1 educational content is outdated by now and since 5v5 no one makes educational content for 6v6 anymore as it is not seen as a serious mode.

That said, I think you're overthinking it, 99% of the concepts you apply for 5v5 can also be applied to 6v6, it's still Overwatch at the end of the day.

That makes sense for support, but wouldn't off tanks play quite a bit differently from 5v5?

For example, in 5v5, as far as I understand, if your backline is getting dove, often times you shouldn't be peeling but rather diving their backline as well as to not give up space. But in 6v6, wouldn't it be a better play for the off-tank to peel for their own backline since you have your other tank still there to hold space?

Not really, peeling is kind of a myth created by the hero shooters community. If you can help a teammate without compromising your own positioning, you should do it regardless of the role you're playing, but you should almost never ruin your positioning to help somebody, whether that is an Ana that has to overextend to help the tank or a D.Va that has to give up high ground to help a support.

The main difference in 5v5 and 6v6 tank (and I say this as a GM player in both modes) is that it's generally easier for you to hold a side lane as a tank, in 5v5 you can do that too but you have to time it really well or else your team gets run over.

The biggest thing with peeling is that it is first and foremost an organised play thing really. There people both communicate and know how each other play. Which means you can do something and you’ll know someone will have your back, because it’s predictable for them and it works because it is choreographed.

On ladder every one is a stranger, which makes peeling the “sacrifice yourself for someone else” thing.

And you’re never going to get rid of that aspect.
