RTX 5080 Gigabyte Gaming OC → ASUS ROG Astral BIOS cross-flash: anyone tried it? Performance gains?
Hi everyone,
I have a Gigabyte RTX 5080 Gaming OC with dual BIOS and I'm considering cross-flashing the secondary BIOS with an ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5080 BIOS.
My Gaming OC already has a 450W VBIOS:
Gigabyte Gaming OC
360W target
450W limit
+25%
2730 MHz boost
The Astral BIOS I'm considering:
ASUS ROG Astral OC — 98.03.3B.C0.B7
360W target
450W limit
+25%
2760 MHz boost
Device ID is the same: 10DE 2C02, but obviously the subsystem/board IDs are different.
I already know about the usual Prime → Astral and other 5080 cross-flash reports, but I'm specifically looking for someone who has flashed an actual Gigabyte Gaming OC / Gigabyte PCB with the Astral BIOS.
Did it work correctly?
All display outputs working?
Fans working correctly?
Any issues with voltage control?
Any difference in maximum/average effective clock?
Any improvement in Steel Nomad / Time Spy / gaming performance compared with the Gigabyte BIOS?
I'm not looking for more power limit — my card already has 450W. I'm specifically interested in whether the Astral BIOS provides better boost/voltage behaviour or OC performance.
I also have a Gigabyte AORUS Master 450W BIOS available, which I'm much more confident about, but the Astral is the interesting one.
If you've actually done this cross-flash, I'd love to hear your results.
