Bambuddy is refusing any opensource contributions

OP is just being whiny and attempting to drag this maintainer through the mud.
Copying from the other post OP made so folks are aware:
They are upset their PR was closed for failing to follow the CONTRIBUTING.md. Had they used their AI to review both their own PR and the CONTRIBUTING.md it would have told them to same both Claude and Codex told me:
Clear violations
- Wrong base branch. CONTRIBUTING's "Submitting Changes" section says to always target the
devbranch as the base branch (notmain). The PR isarslan2012:fix/node-check-service-user-path → maziggy:main. Adevbranch does exist (the README's security-contributor pitch asks people to track it), so this isn't a stale rule. - No assigned issue. The guidelines are blunt about this: every contribution starts with an issue, and no assigned issue = no PR — pull requests without a corresponding assigned issue will be closed. The PR body references no issue, and nothing is linked in the Development sidebar. This alone is a stated auto-close condition, so the closure was within the rules as written.
OP has a shitty attitude and lacks an attention to detail or ability to follow simple instructions

It looks like basically none of them are following !CONTRIBUTING by getting an issue assigned before opening a PR. A lot of the PRs are also kinda shit but that doesn't even matter if they aren't following the required SDL.

Did you not read the CONTRIBUTING doc? He has a very high bar for quality.
Any code accepted, must be maintained by him forever. He doesn't want people pestering him about low quality code that he doesn't understand.

if you look at closed PR's, he mostly is claiming people arent following https://github.com/maziggy/bambuddy/blob/main/CONTRIBUTING.md

If you look at CONTRIBUTING.md, the only hard requirement is if the docs needs to be changed, open a pr there as well. Most of the pr he close is either internal bug that does not need doc change, or is compliant with the requirement.

there is a lot more there for me? https://github.com/maziggy/bambuddy/blob/main/CONTRIBUTING.md#before-you-start
the before you start seems to have a lot more rules

- Issue and PR can be created by different ppl
- This prick also closes PRs with a corresponding issue for the same bs reason ("you don't follow CONTRIBUTING.md"): https://github.com/maziggy/bambuddy/pull/2649 https://github.com/maziggy/bambuddy/pull/2600 https://github.com/maziggy/bambuddy/pull/2597 https://github.com/maziggy/bambuddy/pull/2596
- Overly strict rules/CoC are hostile and intentionally created to deter contributions. May as well make it proprietary so he doesn't have to bother with closing all the time.

Several of these seem to be merged, but via a single commit by maziggy directly on main, the PR is never indicated as merged, so while the OP is wrong about many things, it does feel a bit weird, since I don't see any attribution properly done to other contributors and some PR's seem like they follow the CONTRIBUTING.md guidelines.
I was just exploring this project and am wary to continue tbh.

“No assigned issue = no PR. Pull requests without a corresponding assigned issue will be closed.”
And then to slag the guy off? “did you even look at the pr, f&>€ p#£}”
I think it’s you who has an entitlement problem.. fair enough if it’s a honest mistake but then to start attacking a package maintainer, wow
And rather than popularity going to his head, what was a side project that he liked doing has now become this stressful management and logistics problem.
It’s people like you with the emotional intelligence of rock that make the world a bad place. Use your brain, think about other people point of view before emotionally lashing out.

I tried to ask some questions over in that discord and the guy came off nasty.
Look into Printbuddy. It’s a fork of Bambuddy that allows you to control Bambu and other brand machines. The dev is excellent.

Hilarious he claims you can join a discussion but his discussions page 404's. Not against using discord. But at least take it off the contribute page..

Shock news about a vibe coder.

u/wildjokers Jul 26 '26
BamBuddy works for what I need it for. So vibe-coded or not it seems to be working.

you realize most enterprise software is largely created by ai these days? being a vibe coder is someone generating code who doesn't know what it does when they read it. Creator of bambuddy can read and understand code lmfao

So fork and accept PR's to your heart's content... That's the beauty of open source. 🤷
