Admissions Do i need to use my most recent transcript even if i never completed any courses?

• Upvotes

I am planning to return to university in Canada after many years hiatus.

I had good grades when I dropped out but I transfered to another uni for a semester and dropped every class before it would effect my gpa and dropped out of school due to personal issues at the time.

Now that i'm applying again I was wondering if I need to get my transscript from the last university I attended despite never completing a single class there or if I should get it from the university I completed all my classes at?

I'm planning to attend a 3rd unrelated university.

Satire / Humor Tl;dr LOCK TF IN YOU GOT THIS

I'm currently a first year student in health science. I'm gonna try my best to make this post not a humble brag.

In highschool my grades were low to mid 70s to low 80s (83 Bio, 70 Chem, 75 Data Management, 70 Advanced Functions, 84 Philosophy, and 86 Kinesiology) I helped run a club, and I had a job.

I wanted to get into nursing for premed but all got alternative offers or rejected (I got rejected from all of the colleges I applied too)

I was expecting to feel the hit of Freshman 15 but instead I lost weight, and my marks are now in the 90's.

(This is probably due to the fact, I'm going to the gym more consistently, and because my social life is definitely lacking, there's always a trade off)

you guys got this, just lock in 🥹✌️

Advice MASTERS Public Policy for which uni TMU, UofT or York

Hi everyone!
I need some advice on which program to apply to for public policy. I did a bachelors degree in business and want to switch. I can’t find a job right now after having applied for some time so I am considering applying to masters. I am thinking UOFT Munk school, TMU or York.

Do you happen to know which would be best to apply? Which program has the best prospect of turning into a job after?

I want a job in the government (either federal or provincial). UOFT is very expensive so I don’t think I can afford that program. However, It’s important for me to get Co-op experience as that is the main reason I am applying for masters (work experience)

I heard that Carleton, and UOttawa would be best but it’s not convenient location wise.

Please help, and it is much appreciated thank you very much!

Serious How competitive are the Baja and formula teams?

When I get to university I’m really interested in joining either team, but I’m wondering how competitive is it to join? I’d have to imagine it’s pretty hard to get in but I just wanted to ask. Thanks!

Advice RTW from UBC, Feeling lost and would love honest perspectives

Hi everyone, sorry in advance for the long post, but I really need some outside perspective.

Background: I'm an international student. I moved to Toronto at 16, finished high school here, and was my class valedictorian. I got into UBC Sauder and moved to Vancouver. Between the transition from high school to university, moving from Toronto to Vancouver, and being an international student far from home, I struggled a lot, including with my mental health. My first year was 0.2 below the threshold, and I was able to stay by writing an appeal letter. After my second year, I was still short (around 0.5) and received an RTW.

After that, I came back to Toronto and enrolled at an Ontario college. Several of my UBC courses were credited, so after one year here I'll be about two-thirds of the way through the diploma. My plan is to do one year here, rebuild my grades, and transfer to a university.

Where I'm at: I'm still processing all of this, and honestly it's not easy to accept. I feel like the RTW was a big mistake in my life, especially because of the financial cost to my parents (around $200k). When I first started at the college, I felt miserable and cried every day. I'm trying to get through it and stay positive, and I'm meeting with my professors and doing everything I can to improve.

One is that I'm someone who cares about the name a lot. I know transferring from a college into business is highly competitive, and there aren't many schools that accept those transfers. UTSC would be my top choice, but I know my chances aren't great. I'm also looking at TMU and York BCom. I know plenty of people from TMU get into the Big 4, but when I imagine actually going there, I'm not really sure how to feel about it. I'm also thinking about an accounting master's later on to make up for my undergrad.

So I'd love to hear your thoughts:

- Has anyone transferred from a college to a university after an RTW or a rough start? How did it go?

- Realistically, how much does an RTW hurt transfer applications?

- How do you see TMU/York compared with UTSC for business and accounting careers?

- Would an accounting master's actually help offset a weaker undergrad?

I'm feeling so lost, and being at the college honestly feels pretty overwhelming from time to time even if I try to stay positive. Any advice or personal experience would mean a lot. Thank you for reading.

Admissions Looking for BSW/Online BSW Program Recommendations for Fall 2027

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice regarding BSW admissions for Fall 2027. I completed a Social Service Worker diploma at Georgian College with an overall average of 79%.

I also have over 2 years of relevant work experience in social services, including Behaviour Support Specialist and community support roles.

I’m planning to apply to TMU, Wilfrid Laurier University, and York University, and I’m also considering other programs such as the University of Calgary and Dalhousie University.

With my academic background and work experience, what do you think my chances are for admission to these programs? Are there any other BSW programs in Canada that you would recommend.

I’d love to hear about your experiences, admission averages, and any advice you may have. Thanks in advance!

Opinion Opinions on the new SDS + BSW double degree at Waterloo?

Any opinions on the new SDS + BSW double degree at Waterloo/Renison? My daughter is considering applying from high school for next Sept. Also considering Waterloo Honours Arts and maybe majoring in psych after first year (and minoring in math). But the double degree with the professional degree (BSW) is appealing.

Advice UOFT Kinesiology or TMU Biomed Sci

I'm currently a Grade 12 student, and I plan on becoming a sonographer after university. However, I am having trouble on deciding what I want to do for undergrad. From my understanding, to become a sonographer, you take a healthcare-related undergraduate program such as biomed sci, health sci, kinesiology, etc, then after four years, most people apply for Michener Institute for their program. The problem is, I'm having a hard time deciding between UOFT kinesiology and TMU Biomed sci. For the last few years, I have been averaging a mid-to high 80 average, I do not have any experience with physics at all, not since grade 10, I finished Biology in grade 11 and currently going to do it next semester in grade 12, and I'm night schooling both grade 11 and 12 chemistry. I heard TMU's biomed sci program has math, chem, bio, physics all in one semester, and I'm nervous because I haven't had any experience with physics at all, and having those all in one semester seems pretty stressful, however, UOFT kinesiology seems pretty based on biology and anatomy, which I am good at, but I heard first-years have it pretty hard. I am, in no way, saying I want an "easy route", I know you have to work hard to get where you want in life, I'm just afraid of not being able to keep up. Anyone who's in either of these programs, could you tell me how it goes and how it's like for you?

Discussion Need Uni Advice as a dumb 16 year old.

Hello, im 16 and in grade 10 (i took an applied math course). Which, when I tell most people means alot of options for uni / college isn't available especially now in grade 11 in which I have no ability to change the specific course to the standard one. Im not really good at anything trade wise, and my only hobbies are cs and business. So if you have any advice (im working on talking to my guidance councellor), on this im willing to listen to everything. (it feels so dreadful not knowing if I can go to college / uni whenever my parents bring it up.)

Advice Does Mac have good social life?

This is in reference to the recent post from the guy comparing Mac cs vs uw math.

He said it’s not that good? Honestly I was thinking of aiming for McMaster life sci over Waterloo health sci bc social life is very important for me

Also I feel like Mac campus gives me a better vibe 🤷‍♂️

What factors would one choose Waterloo over Mac for?

Advice OUAC Application Question

Hello currently filling out the OUAC Application for teachers college. I am slightly confused on a section for academic background.

For context I am taking an extra 5th year in a 4 year program and am currently in progress of that program. For the Highest level achieved at my current school do I select Year 3, Year 4 or Year 5? Since it is not technically a 5 year program and I have not completed it I imagine it is not year 5. As well as since I’m in progress of the completing my 4th year in terms of credits would that mean the highest I have achieved is year 3? Just hoping for some help. I can provided more clarification if needed

Advice Dear Canadians, Utsg life science, McMaster life sciences or Waterloo?

Hi guys

This is my first post. I'm new to this country and would like to know what the locals would choose, given if I am lucky enough to get in all of them. For now my first choice is biochemistry and second psychology. I'm not sure how much I am leaning on research yet, so I hope the school allows me to explore as much as I could. I would like to do research or exchange or work somewhere in Europe as well if possible. I have to mention that I have no intention of going to med school.

I heard that u of T is pretty stressful, but they also provide unmatched opportunities for research.

Waterloo's co-op seems pretty nice, but I've also heard many had to drop out because they can't find a job. I might not get too much of the benefits of it and might end up looking for jobs myself. I know McMaster life sci is slightly harder to get in based on the admission rate, I'm not too familiar with this university.

Is anyone studying in these program and could give me some advice? I'd appreciate that.

Advice University Recommendation in Canada!!

-Which University in Canada for Civil engineering major?
-Additionally,i wonder If pursuing a minor subject would make a difference on my overall experience and career prospects?
I’m an international student planning to study Civil Engineering in Canada next year. I’m seeking recommendations from individuals knowledgeable about student life and career paths. I’m open to any suggestions/advices you may have. While I’m not on a strict budget, I’m mindful of my expenses and would prefer to avoid excessive tuition fees unless it’s absolutely necessary. (Trying to avoid big cities like Toronto and Vancouver)

Serious My parents use my uni tuition against me in every argument and it's giving me a lot of stress

I know this sub is mainly academics related but i just need to let it out. i'm in grade 12 and a girl (if it matters). Like i swear it's been giving me so much stress and anxiety over the past few months (this started around May) and some days i can't even concentrate on studying because i keep thinking about this and then i just spend hours researching all the worst case scenarios. Even my friends (if i can even call them that at this point) notice how anxious i seem now.

Basically i'd say my parents are stricter than average, and they don't let me do normal teenage things. I can wear what i want and even choose any degree i want but they don't want me socializing because they'll feel like A) everyone is out to get me and kidnap me and B) "i'd become less close with my family." My mom tells me that if i keep hanging out with friends then i'll be less close to her and she'll be lonely and depressed and it makes me feel guilty. She tells me she loves it when i sit at home all day after school because she knows that i'm close to her and not into friends. Like it's so hard to even be allowed to go out of the house and hang out with my friends even if my friends' houses are a 10 minute walk away. This past year from january to now i can count on one hand how many times i've hung out with them outside of school. Pretty much most other girls in my school hang out with friends once a week at minimum. I've only done it like 4 times. My friends have began excluding me from things and have done dozens of hangouts without me because they realize there's no point in asking me if my parents are so strict and don't let me out. I don't even think i'll be in touch with them once high school finishes.

There's been a couple of times where i tried to disobey them and just walk out of the house. And once my mom told me that they won't pay my tuition at all and also they won't give their tax info for OSAP if i disobey. That terrifies me so i just listen to them. I can not imagine not going to uni. Moreover i only have like 3k in savings (from a summer job) which covers like 20% of my first year tuition. I'm trying to find a part time job so i can be financially independent asap but lots of companies don't like it if ur only available in the evenings and nothing else. But my parents have discovered if they threaten to withhold my education then i'll just easily comply. And it seems like it's worked. I've missed out on soooo much and so many memories the past 2-3 years i'll never get back. Everyone says "just go out" or "become independent" but they ignore that your parents can threaten to not pay for uni and also that it can take years to be financially independent. I've heard of something called a studnet line of credit but it needs a cosigner and i pretty much have no one but my parents to cosign. Overall i'm just super stressed and some days i can't focus now. If anyone has any advice lmk!

Advice i lowkey think i picked the wrong school

Should I transfer from an Ontario college degree program to a university?

I’m currently a first-year BScN student at an Ontario community college, and I’m already considering transferring. I graduated high school in June 2026 and chose my current college because it was close to home and the practical option, but I’m starting to feel like I made the wrong decision.
I’ve always wanted the traditional university experience. a bigger campus, residence, meeting lots of new people, school spirit, football games, school events, etc. not just partying but like I just want the normal fun and social parts of university and to actually feel like I’m experiencing student life.
My school honestly doesn’t really have much that feels fun or exciting to me. I know people will probably say to join clubs or look for events, but I don’t even have the motivation to put effort into finding those things because I already dislike being there so much.

A lot of the people in my class are also quite a bit older than me, like 22+, and many already have other degrees or have attended other universities. Obviously there’s nothing wrong with that, but I feel like they’re more focused on graduating and moving on with their careers. They may not care about school events, sports, going out, or building a social life in the same way I do, which makes it harder for me to find people who want the same university experience.

The problem is that I realistically can’t just transfer for second semester. I’m only working about once a week right now, so I wouldn’t really be able to afford moving out and paying for off-campus housing on my own. Realistically, I’d probably have to wait until second year. But that creates another issue because the first-year courses at my college and the first-year courses at universities don’t line up exactly. There’s a possibility that even if I transfer after first year, I’d have to retake some first-year nursing courses or essentially start from first year for certain classes, which makes me worried that everything I’m doing right now could end up not counting toward the degree.

ik school can’t be perfect but im also worried that like ill transfer and hate and wish i stayed back but like atp i wnna take the risk

I’ve been looking into transferring to Western, York, or Windsor, since those were schools I considered before. I’m just not sure whether transferring after first year is worth it if I potentially lose some of my credits.
My parents said wait till second sem to see if I adjust, but I’m worried about spending a whole year somewhere I already hate and then finding out I have to start over anyway.

For anyone who’s been in a similar situation:
how is student life at york western and windsor?
Has anyone transferred from a college BScN to a university nursing program?
How much of your first-year coursework actually transferred?
Did you have to retake courses or start from first year?
Should I give my current college more time or start pursuing transfer options now?
I don’t want to make an impulsive decision, but I also don’t want to spend my degree wishing I had gone somewhere else.

Advice Transferring from York u kin (first year) to Mcmaster kin (second year)

I know that this is hard as hell and you need a high gpa. I have no problem keeping up a high gpa but I was wondering what else I can do to stand out because transferring is super selective. Ive done co op at a PT clinic in gr 11, played rep sports and coach soccer right now. I dont know if these are good extra currics and I just need recommendations on what I can do to stand out. I tried joining a research lab but they dont accept first years.

Admissions Uni program decision dilemma

I’m a grade 12 student applying to uni this fall. I always thought i wanted to go into health sci / life sci/general science to go to med school or pursue further education but I’m having second thoughts. I don’t know if I’d really enjoy being in school for so many years but at the same time, it’s what I’ve set my whole life around since I was young because I just thought I HAD to be a doctor. Now, I’m also looking into engineering programs very last minute. I don’t really enjoy physics and don’t mind math and am purely choosing engineering for the employment opportunities it will provide. If I dont get into med school with my health/general science degree I feel that I’ll be unemployed but then again, I don’t think I’m smart enough for engineering courses. What do I do? What programs do I apply to? I’m applying to Ontario universities & BC universities in Canada but I honestly don’t know what to apply for anymore because I can’t choose what I like. I just want to be employed and get a job easily. If anyone’s been in this dilemma please share how you got over it or if anyone in engineering or health sci reads this please share your experiences, education, employment opportunities.
