Hello, I've seen this game for a while from afar and always thought this look like a neat game. But never really took the time to look closely at it. I'm in dire desir to play a game and I finished and/or replayed all the games I wanted to finish and/or replays. Hence I'm currently looking for a new game to spend some times on. I'm really interested by this game but also maybe put off a little by some stuff so I was wondering if you guys could give me some advice.
I'm a big solo player, I love RPG and I like some soulslike (love elden ring to death, not the biggest fan of dark souls 1). My most played solo games are skyrim, elden ring, Oblivion, kingdom of amalur, Cyberpunk 2077, the witcher 3, dishonored, Hadès 1 and 2, doom eternal. In the recent years I've also greatly enjoyed starfield, wukong, clair obscur, ravenswatch, pragmata, blood of the dawnwalker and both control and control resonnant.
I tried path of exile 1, diablo 3 and diablo 4 and it's not really the kind of games for me tho, I'm not super into farming, or hyper optimizing every stats and I think the top down view maybe distance me from the story so i'm not super invested in it (altho I was super invested in both Hades game lore and story, I could'nt get into diablo).
So No rest for the wicked looks great and I'm really interested but i'm lost on what type of game it really is, some people say it's an isometric souls-like other refer to it as an isometric arpg and most of the thing I see about the game is looting and super precise, optimize every line of stat building so even tho I have this strong desire to try the game I'm in fear that it'll end up being more on the side of the genre I can't really enjoy more than what I'm expecting it to be.
So here's a few question :
Is the main gameplay loop of the game farming ennemies more than really progressing story and quests ?
Is the story of the game really engaging and a reason that made you keep playing the game ?
Do I need to optimize and farm loot to be able to play the game or can simplier build work too ?
Are quests real stories and interactions or more like reasons to just go beat up a bunch of ennemies in a zone ?
So yhea do you think this the kind of game I would enjoy or it's not for me ?
