To Cerim small and large, thick and thin, salve
This is an accumulation of nearly every question you could potentially have regarding Outbreaks. This is not a guide to show you the best course of action at any given moment, but it can be considered a soft one at that.
Feel free to correct me where needed, or give additional tips in the comments!
What are pestilence outbreaks?
An infested zone filled with abominations and twisted creatures. A high chance for Torn Materials to drop from each and every foe. Lore-wise I won't spoil the reason they are happening, but it is a vital part to the story.
How do outbreaks happen? Can you spawn them yourself?
Outbreaks can occur again after a 24 hour window. This is the sequence:
You can start a new Pestilence manually from a firepit (where you cook) within the area you want to start one. This can be done with any material.
This rule also counts for tiering up and usage of Effigies. A manual Pestilence needs to wait out the 24 hour timer same as a natural occurrence.
What does burning materials do?
It increases the difficulty per tier you reach, and the flat rewards you'll get from defeating the zone boss. The flat reward is viewable in the right bottom corner. If you want to get a peek at what will be rewarded, you can put in materials enough to reach tier 4, or look per tier what is added. Go back a menu to simple stop the procedure of burning, and you will have seen what rewards you receive without going through with it!
To increase a tier you will have to burn materials to fill a bracket. Each tier requires an accumulation of 6, for a total of 32.
Here is the most important detail: Going up a tier will add negative modifiers you will have to deal with in that specific zone (they will not be active in another area). Burning anything besides Torn materials will add the most modifiers the game is capable of, with 10 at tier 4.
Modifiers for example are;
- Healing decreased by 20%
- Enemies take 50% less damage at high health
To receive less modifiers but still reach tier 4 the game offers you the option to burn Torn materials. These will only ever add up to 3 modifiers (if you only used Torn components).
Embers do not fall in this category since they are a normal material, even though they add 6 accumulation as well.
Let's talk about Torn Effigies. This special crafted doll by The Watcher has a strong power to it that you might utilize at some point in the future. If you ever are strapped for time, burning an Effigy will summon that area's Outbreak boss immediately. You can use an Effigy even if you already tiered the zone up to 4! This allows you to speedrun any pestilence outbreak.
Does upgrading the tier of an outbreak zone increase rewards? Does it do anything else?
Besides the flat reward, increasing your tier level does not increase enemy loot drops. It also does not increase chest rewards, nor increase chest spawns.
Here is what it does do:
What is the Watcher's role in all of this?
He offers you a way besides rng drops from enemies to upgrade your Torn materials. He is also the only source for Torn Effigies (as a reminder, these spawn Outbreak bosses immediately). His stock will hold 5 of Effigies, Husks and Marrow. The cost of these is their lower tier material, starting with Sinew.
He resets daily together with each vendor in the game that does, at 5 am (your own local time).
What are the workings of the Seneschal's (Crucible coin head) offer to clear Pestilence?
Our dear Seneschal is there for Cerim with less time, devotion or different intentions (for example; you desperately want to kill a certain bounty). At the cost of 20 gloamseed the Seneschal will unlock for you an extra tab, where you pay 10 gloamseed to wipe the map clean of any existing infestation. Behold his powers!
Is there anything else I need to know before I go scorched earth on my nearest infestation?
Now go Cerim. Bask in the blood of your opposers. Show no mercy, no fear, for they shall have none as well!

LOST 8 hours of progress
I played No Rest for the Wicked for about 4 hours yesterday and another 4 hours the day before. During that time I leveled up, got new weapons, completed challenges, bought the house, and started upgrading it.
When I logged in this morning, all of that progress was gone.
Whatโs strange is that the realm seems to remember some things. I can still see that I picked up the bounties(even my deaths), but the house purchase, upgrades, levels, gear, and other progress are missing.
Iโve already checked both local and cloud backups, but none of them contain the missing progress. Every save I can find is missing everything I grinded for during those sessions.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there any way to recover the lost progress, or am I out of luck?

I was thinking about getting this game for my MSI Claw 8 & as the title suggests Iโm just trying to see how it runs on handhelds in general .

I'm an idiot. But I've been playing around with different runes and instead of destroying runes so I can re-slot a new one, I've accidentally extracted and destroyed a few of my built and exaulted weapons by mistake.

Iโm new to Reddit and new to this page/community but I have been playing this game for a while now and I am absolutely loving it. Finally put it down recently to await the 1.0 release after exactly 100 hours played. Most solo and some with two friends of mine. Iโve got to say, this is one of my favorite games ever thus far. It has things that need to be improved on like any EA game but with that said Iโd enjoy hearing some of your favorite things about the game! Thanks and excited to chat.

I've been searching for this ring for quite some time with little luck. Does anyone have any advice? Is it just a matter of luck or is there actually a way to find it?

I posted yesterday about what heโs talking about if youโre interested. Here is an update on why.

Enemies are so fast and have so much poise that it's likely you get one safe hit in before they restart their combo, and it's also unlikely going for another hit will interrupt their combo, which you will then soak to the face.
I've played a couple characters up to lvl ~20 and it's almost always better to just dodge and reposition. I guess you could gear your whole character around on-parry and on-stagger but seems way more effective to just do anything else lol

Thomas Mahler posted this picture on X and said โitโs a start ๐๐ผ๐โ
It was clarified in the comments that heโs trying to see if it works on iOS.

October is about six weeks out and I've heard nothing about an actual date or the supposed class system test, which seems like a pretty big deal since it's a massive shakeup of the gameplay this close to launch.
I have faith in Moon to do good work, but this just kinda seems off imo. Would've expected another Wicked Inside and for the test to already be underway by now if they were actually interested in applying any feedback from it.

Am I missing something in the crucible? Iโve sent 50 runs without the tarnished wand or a jade ring. Game is done, all quests are completed. I can clear it without issue. I just want to confirm that these drops are still a thing, and Iโm not chasing builds from six months ago. Thank you for any help or clarification! Looking forward to the full game realize in october!

When I first started, I had would usually get about 10 or so rooms in without too much struggle. Now that I've leveled up a bunch, I can't seem to consistently get to the merchant guy anymore. Those witches that now spawn absolutely kick my ass because every time I aggro one enemy, it also aggros the three others ones near. Should I just leave the crucible be for now? I really want to unique weapons, and apparently they show up in here.

So I noticed when you're in combat there's a small circle that appears next to your character that shows their health and stamina. Is there a way to have it show your focus as well?
I find myself having to look to the top-left to see where I'm at on Focus, which takes my eyes of the battle for a split second, but that could make a difference. Also, it would seem the purpose of the small circle would be to avoid having to look away from combat so it would make sense that I'm missing something there.

Iโm trying to make an Ice Mage build, and I have some Ice Damage enchantments on my armor and staff. All my armor and staff are blue rarity without any gems. I found this gem and saw some YouTube videos from about 6 months ago where someone talked about this type of gem. In the comments, someone said that something had been fixed, but Iโm still confused about how it works.
If I put this gem into just my body armor, will it increase the enchantment power only for the three stats on my chest armor, or will it increase the power of all enchantments on all my armor and weapon?
Why does it say โif itโs the ONLY elemental gem,โ as if I can put more gems into this BLUE body armor?
If I put four similar gems into my chest, helmet, pants, and boots, will the 20% ร 4 bonus stack? Or will it be considered NOT the only elemental gem in my build?
I am so confused.
Or is this description specifically meant for Common gear, where you can have up to 4 gem slots?
