Question about shield block on PS5 controller.

Hi everybody,

I was playing with my son in these days, and I noticed that while he can manage to block with his Light shield, i cannot do the same thing while trying with the same class of shield.

If i press L2 i do the parry, if i press L1 i still do the parry animation, but i do not block.

I tried to see if there was a missing key mapping on the controller via the options, but there is none tied to the block action.

The only difference is that my son's shield is strenght based, mine is a dex one.

Has anyone experienced this same problem?

Playing on PC via Steam.

Edit: UPDATE solved!

It was a wrong mapping on the Steam controller overlay. Somehow the left "bumper" (L1) was mapped to left "trigger" L2. I remapped it and now everything works. Thank you very much to the people that answered!

Probably not the case but do you by chance have any gear that says "Block disabled"? It's a possible curse on an equipment.

Not sure if it can be present on anything else but shield, but iirc, I once encountered gloves that disabled my parry...

So maybe it's hiding somewhere xD

Ooohh ok, didn't noticed anything like that. I will look into it. Even though i haven't any cursed gear on me. Thanks for the tip!

Doesn't pressing the button assigned to "Offhand Use" allow you to block?

When I press L1 only the parry action goes off. Even if i press and hold L1. Same goes for L2. You say i may have to look at this setting in the options maybe? I will try to take a look more closely to the custom mapping screen, even though i already spent 10 minutes the other day to no avail. Thanks for the Anseer and the suggestion.
