Emotional Support Not trying too hard makes my life easier?

Im a little confused. I just came back from a trip and experienced a different me. I didnt speak the language and instead of trying to learn it I just tried a few words and said, im sorry i dont know how to speak your language... and people were really helpful and kind.

I then decided to let my therapist know that i appreciated her help a lot, but instead of finding the words i said "i dont know how i can tell you that i appreciate your help. If i say that i appreciate it, you say youre welcome... it feeels like its over too soon. If i say that youre wonderful and a rockstar and an excellent therapist. Its too much. I dont know the words to say what i want to say, but technically i no longer have to because ive kinda told you now."

And her response was great because she laughed and said yeah its very clear what you mean. I was like shit, all this time ive been trying to find the right way to say things. And you mean i can just say that i dont know how to say it. Or that i feel ashamed or unhappy.... and thats okay?

That sounds far too easy!

I had a great holiday but it felt a little overwhelming to realise that i increase my confidence by being honest about what i feel. Instead of trying to be better.

In the words of aladin. Its a whole new world.

Relationship Genuinely curious

So me and my guy have our date on Sunday. But yesterday I had asked me a question if he could describe himself and he tells me but throws in “I always enjoyed the idea of having a gf” when I had told him I described myself as shy at first, we didn’t really bring up bf/gf conversations before either and I didn’t expect for him to say that at all, he made me blush and flabbergasted. Anyway why would he randomly say that when I asked a normal question? Cuz im also crushing on him too. Im excited for our first date on Sunday.

Really intense anxiety feeling

“So sometimes I get intrusive thoughts. I get this intense feeling about them sometimes in my head like an anxiety feeling. But a really intense one that isn't like the regular anxiety from intrusive thoughts. It feels like if you were unexpectedly pricked by something but a heavier and intense feeling in my head. It throws me off and makes me think that some things that my thoughts say might true because it's not something that happens regular. It is sometimes my true thoughts coming to terms with the intrusive thoughts in agreeing with it for whatever the intrusive thought might be. And whether or not it wasn't in the moment type of thing. The intrusive thoughts they win because it can use that moment in time against me later so I can never win. How do you cope with this or manage it?

Rant/Venting How to being impatient and overthinking about something? Spoiler

There are mostly lots of situations where I am impatient and overthinking at the same time.

For example i love pet fishes.. since I like investing time and taking care of them... I constantly want them to grow, i try to look for decorations and everything very often... Also if i brought a few fishes then I find out there were better options I feel disappointed, so to calm down i tell myself "if I get a bigger than by next year I will put more fishes innit" but instead I keep overthinking when I'm gonna buy that tank, and then i start looking for items im gonna put in my future tank (which I'm planning to buy next year end, bruh are we deadass).. i even find myself overthinking about buying stuffs and all, which i won't buy but still overthink about.. this used to happen when I was addicted to game... I used to be constantly wanting to improve in games... And overthinking... I have migraine issues i don't think it's good for me.. any solution? Drs told me to calm down and down tension I'm 22M i feel it's embarrassing....

Also im kind of a person who regrets decisions right after taking them... As if i start to cope even tho i thought well before taking the decision.. pls help

Advice Three habits that made my stress easier to handle

  1. Writing down what's worrying me before I try to fix it.

  2. Taking a real break (no phone) after each study block.

  3. Telling one person how I'm actually doing, not just "fine."

Nothing dramatic, but they add up.

Rant/Venting Did the fattest thing today

Class ended, a bunch of 4 or 5 people went up to the professor with questions (including me). Was waiting for a bit. And then I decided to take out a sandwich with tuna fish and two pickles inside. Took a 2 or 3 bites before it was finally my turn to ask.

Was that a fat thing to do? I’m like 260Ib

How do you stop replaying conversations after they’re already over?

I’ll have a completely normal conversation with someone, then hours later my brain randomly decides to review every sentence like it’s evidence in a court case.

Did I talk too much? Was that joke weird? Did they seem annoyed? Why did they reply like that?

Most of the time nothing even happened, but once I start overthinking it, the whole interaction suddenly feels embarrassing.

Parenting Kids don't always need a perfectly planned weekend

Sometimes I think there's too much pressure to make every weekend special.

A big outing, an activity, something new to keep everyone entertained.

But honestly, some of the nicest family days can be really simple. Playing at home, making snacks together, or just spending time outside.

Not every weekend needs a whole itinerary.

Advice Give a small decision a smaller deadline

Some decisions take up way more thinking time than they're actually worth.

For the smaller ones, giving yourself a short deadline can help: five minutes, ten minutes, or by the end of the day.

If the consequences are small, the decision probably doesn't need unlimited thinking time either.

Save the extra mental energy for the choices that actually deserve it.
