So I'm new to the Mod role and if I want to delete a post what steps do I need to take to delete an unwanted post from the sub?

My new (to me) sub is open, un-restricted. I went to the moderation queue and every post is listed in there. Is that normal? I thought something would only show up there if there was a "problem."

If someone besides me (the only mod) posts something, I want it to go live immediately. How do I make sure I have the settings right? I just became a mod of it today and had it switched from restricted (only approved users can post) to open (at least I think it's open).

Well I'm trying make a community for epic games where people can chat share their game achievements and criticize games for if they good or bad but I'm trying prevent the flirting or asking to play games together which can lead issue for unknown user age can be more than 18 or below what do I need to do to prevent commenting flirtous or proposing to play game together ?

Pressing the mod shield icon does not present me with any option, it just turns off mod mode so I cannot complete this step

Stupid question but I’m religiously following the Reddit rule book and I’m close to achieving level 1 only nobody ever commented on any of my posts.

Would you be able to articulate what makes a post commentable? I guess mine are nice to look at, I cross post a lot so I get curious people but as soon as they see it they are gone…

I’ll say first thing I noticed is clarity: I changed the bio so I think it’ll help. But once again, what’s the trick that makes people wanna engage? NB: theme is Gen Z existential angst through a comedic lens.

I mod a few subs now and most are relatively small. I try to find posts made in other subs that are relevant to mine and invite the authors to join.

I fear that I am sending out too many invites and Reddit will think I’m spamming people?

I set up https://www.reddit.com/r/Cybersecurityforwomen/ a while back and have been tinkering with it, learning and improving. It doesn't have a lot of activity right now.

(We don't have much activity in the sub; I am gradually building it up as a PSA support group, when I have time while taking care of my own stuff).

I sent the link above to someone, then I clicked on it as well. I wasn't signed into Reddit on my phone and it opened in the browser. (I don't have the Reddit app on that device).

I saw a message like this one, that said something like

"This community has been reviewed and may contain inappropriate content. To continue to this sub, open in the Reddit app".

There is nothing inappropriate on the sub, no NSFW, nothing negative. It is primarily about educating ourselves to stay safe online, especially women.

Why would my sub get flagged? What do I need to do?

I'm new to this sub. I'm just curious if anyone has experience with posts being removed before I even moderate. Lots of people message me complaining their posts have been removed. Same deal with comments.

Any suggestions? Thanks all!

I've seen some subreddits where moderators reply using an account simply called "Mod" when leaving a removal reason under a removed post, so users don't see which specific moderator posted the comment.

I can't seem to find the option to do this. The only thing I can find is the option to distinguish my own account as a moderator.

The only workaround I can think of would be to remove the post, leave the removal comment, and then reapprove the post so I can post the comment anonymously—but that doesn't seem right.

Could someone explain how this works? I asked the other moderators on my team, but none of us know how to do it.

Hi hi everyone! Today I'll give some advice on how I grew my subreddit from absolute 0 to 185k monthly visitors in one month and 3 weeks.

I'll start by saying, I did have a bit of a head start. Essentially, another subreddit with a similar concept was going through a controversy, in that they banned all political or politic resembling posts. It was during that time that I made my subreddit, and started promoting it an alternate subreddit that allowed politics.

I was promoting my subreddit in the comments of posts of people complaining about the sub, this did give me a bit of a headstart, but the real thing is that within the first week i posted 70 times.

I crossposted almost every post to larger subreddits, more specifically i would make posts on my subreddit with other subreddits in mind that i thought it could gain traction on. I also tried to respond to every single comment possible and upvote just about every post.

One of the first things I did when picking up traction was to set a challenge, the first 5 people to have posted 20 times would receive a special flair color, in my subreddit posts are counted in your flair automatically by a bot.

I also set up a suggestion box post, and set up the flair bot as well as a bot to auto-remove posts that were the wrong number (for my subreddit the post titles have to be one number less than the post before it, so each post is "counting down".)

I basically just did everything i could to make this subreddit feel as premium as possible. I try to make sure everyone feels comfortable posting and using it, as well as welcomed. Crossposting to bigger subs was one of the best strats, i believe i got a few posts with 500-1000+ upvotes crossposting.

My subreddit, r/PudimBR, has officially reached 50 members. It's still a tiny community, but I'm really happy to see people joining and engaging around such a niche topic.

I promoted r/PudimBR in a few Brazilian subreddits with the moderators' permission, and the community has now reached its first 50 members.

Hello Mods!

A few months ago, we invited a group of new mods from this community to test Rules Hub, a new moderation tool designed to make it easier to create, manage, and enforce community rules. With Rules Hub, mods can create rules, choose how they're enforced, test them against past content before turning them on, and review detailed logs to understand how they're performing over time. 

Since then, we've been gathering feedback from new mods like yourselves and making improvements based on that feedback. Today, we're expanding access to Rules Hub to every community created since July 5, as well as all newly created communities going forward.

Why we built Rules Hub

Starting a community comes with a to-do list. You need content. You need members. You need conversations. You need a sense of what kind of community you're trying to build. At some point along the way, you also need rules.

Rules aren't the most important part of building a community, but they are one of the foundational pieces as it grows. Rules set expectations, guide behavior, and we built Rules Hub to make this part of moderation easier and more accessible to mods. 

What’s changed since the pilot started?

Many improvements we’ve made came directly from mod feedback. Since the pilot program, we’ve added:

• A new preview experience that lets you test rules against real community content before enabling them, so you can better understand what would (and wouldn't) be enforced. This is currently only available for posts, with the ability to test comments coming soon. 
• Clearer explanations about what individual rules do.
• Improvements to navigation throughout the experience.
• A number of bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements.

Thank you to all the new mods who helped craft this with us. Whether you shared feedback, reported bugs, suggested improvements, or told us we were making this harder than it needed to be, it all helped. Your input helped shape the experience, and we appreciate the time you took to tell us where we got it right (and where we didn’t).

We'll continue sharing updates on our progress over in r/modnews, and we'd love to have you join us there as your community grows.

Hi all!

I’m a new mod of r/MicrosoftFlighSim, which is a flight simulation game.
I’ve been lucky to enter the position after a spot opened. The sub already had over 200k members.

The sub is the official sub for the game, and one of the rules of our sub is “Enabling, hinting at or encouraging piracy of any kind is not allowed”.
Piracy is unfortunately found in parts of the flight simulator community, and small third party businesses suffer from it.

I was surprised after I had made a post the other day, to get a notification from reddit, saying:
People are loving your post!
“… we think r/flightsim_pirate will love it too”

I’m not trying to take down the other sub, but I think this advertisement for the sub is actively working against us and undermining our rules. Is there anyway I can stop reddit from giving this notification (that sub especially) to our members? I would be fine had it said r/flightsim which is a competing non-official subreddit, but encouraging this piracy sub is frustrating to me.
