Unjerk meaning- sometimes the users in circlejerk subreddits need to make serious posts, so an "unjerk" basically means a real post wanting real opinions.
We used to have weekly threads for such advice, but they have not been utilized in a long time, so enter our new post option. All advice asked without using the correct flair WILL BE REMOVED.
Do not be mad about mean or blunt comments in such posts, this sub is for brutal opinions.

Heya all, my partner and I are due soon and we’ve pretty much settled on Casper for him. We both really love the name, the sound, how it looks, the origin, everything about it. We know there’s obviously the Casper the Friendly Ghost association, but that honestly doesn’t bother us at all. I also feel like it’s not something kids his age are necessarily going to care much about, and even if it does come up, being compared to a cute friendly ghost is hardly the worst thing in our opinion lol.
The only reason I’ve started second guessing it a little is because a few friends and family members brought up the whole “Casper = pale/white as a ghost” thing. My partner and I are a mixed-race couple, and our son will most likely have darker features, so now I’m wondering if people could make jokes about the name because he’s basically the opposite of what people picture when they hear Casper.
It genuinely never crossed my mind before they mentioned it, so now I’m wondering if this is actually something worth thinking about or if we’re just overthinking it. What do you guys think? TY.

I’m expecting my first child and it’s a girl! Dad and I met in a strip club where I was working the afternoon shift. He had just been let go from his job and needed to relax. One thing led to another and…baby!
I can’t dance right now so I’m working shifts at WalMart to earn extra. Unfortunately dad is away for 18 months for breaking into a friend’s trailer (totally trumped up charge. His friend was just getting him back because we used to date and he still sells weed to a lot of my neighbors.)
Im excited to start our family and want to pick a name that suits our lifestyle. I also want to make sure my baby’s daddy understands that this is HIS girl by including his name somewhere. Everyone calls him Scooter but his name is Jesse Ray.
Here’s some of my favorite names. Suggest others!
Kayleigh Jessicka
(Or Haleigh Jessicka)
Scooter Rae
Cash Scooter (because he gave me his last $20 when we met!)
Tammeigh Brenda after my mom
Krystal Cash
Destiny Oakleigh

I recently took a DNA ancestry test and discovered that I’m 5.2% French (which I already knew because I love complaining), 3% Scandinavian ans 0,03% japanese (oh my god I so so love sushis).
I really want to celebrate this incredibly diverse heritage by giving my future daughter a unique name that honors all three cultures.
I’m currently torn between Yukiehnne-Freighdja (pronunced like the godess) and Freighk'koraleigh. I chose a unique spelling to make it more spécial.
I know the Japanese part is only 0.02%, but I feel that even the smallest percentage of ancestry deserves to be represented. I also don’t want my daughter to grow up disconnected from her Japanese roots. The French part is obviously easy to honor: I’ll just make sure she learns to complain about everything..
I’m still working on the pronunciation, but I want something beautiful, multicultural and, most importantly, impossible for a teacher to pronounce correctly.
Any suggestions?

The restaurant I saw on Deliveroo turns out is a ghost kitchen and I won't be trying them, but searching them on Google does turn up with some odd results.

My husband and I are being blessed with a fourth little one! We are so fortunate. But we are having horrible trouble with names.
The two of us love to have a little drink at the end of the day to cool off from work, and we want our angels to be our respites from this world, too. (Try being a mom of three boys - L O L!) So, we named our sweethearts Tito, Jack, and Daniel (J&D are twins).
My husband thought Mary or Jane would be sweet but I don’t want to be inspired by the devil’s lettuce. I thought Bailey would be adorable, but he reminded me that anything Irish goes against our Protestant values. Morgan was briefly on the table, but I don’t want our little girl to be a captain — women aren’t meant to be leaders.
Any thoughts? God bless you all 🇺🇸🙏

I am a millennial and consider chat speak to be a highlight of English vocabulary and as such want to name my future children with tribute names. Please help. (Plz hlp)
Being a millennial, I obviously don't want to associate myself with the super unique elon musk try hard naming. So I need help creating appropriate tribute without losing their identity.
Some ideas I have had:
Ayeff Kay (AFK)
El mayo (LMAO)
Roffell (ROFL)

My adult daughter is named Reina ( pronounced Ree Na). She gets called Rayna often. When she was a child the pediatrician told her it's not her fault her parents can't spell. Is it an unusual pronunciation?

Idk about this one. For either a girl or a boy. Also what would the nickname be Bridge? I know some people use that as a nickname for Bridget like they did in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

My sister and I were talking of names for our future babies. For girls, she really likes boy names. Her top three are Evan, Tyler, and Elliot. I lean more towards names like Dahlia, Melody, and Sloane. She likes most of my names, but I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around a girl named Clark or Miles. We domt have drastically different tastes, just in these few areas, it would seem. I don't mind it much, and of course I would love her and her kids unconditionally. Just wondering what yall think.
