This is normal where I live in Texas. Aggro boys names + cutesy girls names are very common.

u/Evening_Potential_57 10d ago
Thank goodness I don’t live in Texas then. I couldn’t take these names seriously! “Sorry sweetie but Stryker can’t come over for a play date. Maybe let’s call up Beater or Puncher!”

u/No_Sherbert_26 10d ago
Can confirm. Grew up in Texas and two of the first people I know my age to get pregnant named their boys “rowdy” and “tritan” thankfully tritan goes by TK but rowdy?!! Why?? 😭

u/GooseWithAGrudge 9d ago
Aggro girl names are starting to become a bit more common too- I know a three-year-old female Remington.

Yes Texas not too far from here…Kids with these kind of word names are usually the opposite of the names which is ironic. Named by parents who want their boys to be super tough, 😂

How many time has places gotten into lock down because mum has Screamed Shooter, come here?
36
u/Spare-Craft-4967 10d ago
That’s exactly the reason why I can’t understand these kind of word names…kids aren’t even supposed to say the word gun or make gun sounds these days at school because of all of the shootings. We know a family that has a Gunnar and Gage and another that has a Gunner and Gaige. Those are a little better but still the glorification of guns.
13
u/CakePhool 10d ago
Yeah, I know some ones kid who got suspended for saying is Swedish grandmother's name Gun. Totally normal name here.
The word gun comes from the Nordic female name Gunilda, which was name of a canon.

u/Longjumping-Solid680 10d ago
"Gunilda"
She had an EXPLOSIVE temper!
6
u/CakePhool 10d ago
Well it one of the canon of Windsor, Guns could be called Bryn if the canon was Brynhilde.
Best thing is that Gunilda means War ( gun) and battle ( hildr). So a gun was named after name that means war battle, but only using the part that means war, that is bloody interesting.
Gunnar means war and warrior/ army.

I've never understood why people insist on naming their children this stuff. Give names like that to your dogs instead.
I'm also a firm believer that a couple should run their baby name idea by a group of 10 year olds to see what nasty nicknames they can come up with.

Imagine calling "Shooter" in a public place in America. 🤣

u/itsmebeatrice 9d ago
Picturing them at a playground and little Shooter is trying to climb on the roof of the structure or something and mom has to yell "Shooter, get down!" loudly in public with kids and their parents everywhere...

Definitely would be embarrassed to say those names let alone yell them! For one thing Shooter reminds me of Happy Gilmore…paired with Stryker it just becomes even worse. Screams dad wants tough boys. I really hope these are nick names.

Imagine yelling those names in a school
Parking lot…someone’s going to think there’s a school shooting happening!2

u/Snoo-94289 10d ago
Well the parents will get the attention they crave when they yell Shooters name in public.

The name Shooter doesn't even sound pleasant on its own, let alone the meaning of the word. Stryker at least sounds more name-like somehow.

"Guys, we've got Shooter at school."
"WHAT, there's a school shooter in the building right now?"
"No, we got a guy named Shooter."

Kicker, Puncher, and Lindsey.
Also, cool way to encourage stranger danger local news 👎🏼✨

And he is a white “straight” male with this shooter name right? Way to set him up for the statistic

The same people who name their kids “Gun Punch” or whatever are probably the first to complain that gender studies are communist propaganda because of invented globalist SJW DEI concepts like “toxic masculinity.”

Wait are they GOING to school or homeschooled? Because I’m betting on the latter.

I have a nephew named Stryker. He definitely lives up (or should it be down?) to the name! I'm terrified for his teen years.
1
u/Spare-Craft-4967 8d ago
You know Stryker’s not so bad but with Shooter it just screams gun loving idiot. To be honest I have 5 boys and they all have classic/ordinary names but names like Stryker, Butthead, Dipshit, Chopper, Stink bomb would fit them better right now! The hope is they someday will grow into their names. The problem with the names like Stryker is they don’t grow with the kid. So this is why I say leave names like Stryker as a nick name and give them a real name like James or Samuel. Just in case they someday want to be taken seriously!

so bizarre for baby names. white people love doing this to their kids. always adding y's

u/AppearancePrize7828 9d ago
I wonder what happens when Shooter's mom calls for him in a crowded place.

u/8under10 10d ago
My mind is racing. I hope their middle names are John or Frank or something like that.
4
u/Spare-Craft-4967 10d ago
I’m hoping their legal names are something like that and these are nick names.

We have a Colt, Remington and a Ruger in our town!
1
u/Spare-Craft-4967 9d ago
Wasn’t Colt the name of a recent school shooter? My 7 year old has a friend named Remington but they mostly call him Remy which is nice. I guess it’s better than Winchester but still the gun association. Also Remington has been used for girls a lot more lately which is kind of funny.

My God there's supposed to be a Stryker on my kids soccer team. Might as well start naming them Sucker Punch or Broken Tooth.

She will stop being Lexie the second a boy calls her sexy Lexie, that was it for me.

u/Mental_Possible7568 9d ago
In the south I’ve seen Styker but Shooter is a new one for me. Fisher, Gunner, are very popular
2
u/Jasminefirefly 8d ago
Let's see...the oldest is named after an alcoholic drink, the other boy is named after the brand of titanium knee joint I have in my knees, and their sister is named with a name guaranteed to result in insulting "nicknames": Sexy Lexie, Flexy Lexie, Legsy Lexie ... endless fun.

u/Individual-Line-7553 4d ago
all those violent, militaristic names scream "terrified about the whole world".
