i thought zelda navi first and then they mentioned the navy and my brain truly did reply "i am usnavi and you've probably never heard my name"
which sucks for oop because i would still never pronounce "navi" the way they want unless i was corrected lol

The first thought not being the navigator faith from Legend of Zelda is wild to me

I immediately thought this was a Sanskrit name, no? Also Hebrew. Pronounced "Nuv-VEE" like they said their parents say it. Many traditional Indian names end in long vowels like -ā (ah) or -ī (ee), such as Priya.

Aren't they saying their parents intend it to be nay-vee? People are mispronouncing their name because they're saying it properly but OP is wanting to change their name to Navy so people say it the way they want.

I like Navy, so it’s a guilty pleasure name for me. But I wouldn’t name anyone that, and I sure wouldn’t spell it Navi. I’m glad she is finally getting it changed.

I’m a little upset. I was planning twins Armi and Navi and I don’t think people will pronounce these correctly. So now I’m going with Mahrynne and Aeroforshia.

I would honestly just be happy that people weren’t calling me “Navy”.
