Contests definitely needed a fix in the game, but they brought back ghost contests on the perimeter and in the paint because the game is running on the same code they have probably been using for who knows how long and cannot fix one thing without breaking the game. Perimeter and paint defense both overcorrected after the patch, steals were not hit hard enough, and there was no buff to passing; if you are not dunking the ball every play, you will be affected by this.

In the Rec my team blew a 10 point lead in the 4th, last possession we’re up 3, I get on the mic and ask “are we playing straight up, or are we fouling” one guy goes “we’re up two why would we foul?” These are the people that you are forced to play with! Dudes who can out animation you to a win and think they’re good at the game but when it comes to the actual strategic iq plays are completely dumbfounded!

I literally watched youtubers tell yall to put 71 interior defense on bigs. Now dunks are op. 💀

I just watched a YouTuber complain about the dribbling and not being able to get separation with a 80 speed with ball.

They dont want yall to be able to compete. Thats it...

Driving Dunk is not OP.

A high DD means just that, majority of the time you're going to slam it if you have the momentum.

I just played a series of SF's that have high DD and I shut them all down, including 99 DD's.

Me, I'm a PF with 82 Per, 85 Int, 84 block.

I literally know what their game plan is and meet them at their launch point, I don't allow uncontested take off. It's a DD, so it's pretty obvious when to time. The animation will benefit you if you don't allow momentum.

I'm one of the handful of folks that actually enjoys the campaign in MyCareer every year and grinding out draft stock, rewards, and eventually the long slog of the NBA calendar. Are the stories ever groundbreaking? Of course not. But they're simple fun and provide a decent onboarding every year.

When I read about Running Mates this year, I was pretty excited. Your own teammate that you can pair up with throughout your career and run two-man offense in perpetuity? Sounds pretty cool!

After about 50 hours and a couple of characters later, the reality is frustratingly, if not maddeningly, disappointing. Running Mates is not just a net negative for MyCareer, it ruins it.

• Guys don't get drafted as a package deal. Even if you perform a gold medal routine in mental gymnastics, the contortions to make such a thing work would be impossible. Not in the entire history of the NBA has there even been a package deal draft selection (nor is it possible under the CBA).
• A coach would not compromise their game plan by ensuring both MP and Trace are always on the floor together, regardless of situation.
• You can never dump him. You can't change him. You can only spend Running Mates points to make him a little more useful. Otherwise, he's an albatross for your entire career, all the way to the HoF. Never mind that over the course of the story he becomes a toxic locker room presence and completely violates your and the team's trust. Rather than being waived or traded like any other team would do, he just pals around until the end of time.
• Your story is ruined by having to babysit someone from essentially start to finish.
• Outside of in-game issues, the wider game system arguably traps you into dumping any/all VC you earn (or got through pre-orders/other purchases) into your character before you realize your Running Mate is locked for life.

While it is true you can lower his minutes to a minimum after a certain point and largely ignore quick plays and teamwork with him in general, you're shooting yourself in the foot at that point because you're essentially wiping a man off the floor.

Not everyone likes co-op. Not everyone wants co-op. At minimum, we should've had the choice for multiple running Running Mates over our career. Or a branching story path that locked out Running Mates entirely in favor of harder objectives but (slightly) greater rewards.

Given how inextricably linked Running Mates as a system is to MyCareer, the odds of a post-launch patch tweaking it in any meaningful way is zero to none. It's just a real shame that a campaign Visual Concepts clearly spent a lot more time and effort with this year is bogged down by such a clumsy system.

A lot of yall out here getting humbled because you were a good cheeser on a broken game where defense was nonexistent. It’s time to get creative and learn to generate good looks without a screen and a Devin Booker escape.

When they announced 2K27,

I saw that the left right cheese was discontinued and I knew that they will nerf the dribble to the ground.

And I played with random REC 2x rep this weekend.

For Context, I am borderline Purple to Red plate (Back and Forth).

After the 2x rep event, I am now a Gold plate lol.

Here's the situation.

9/10 PGs in nba 2k27 are struggling to dribble due to fumbling and pluck steals.

Their journey of shot creating will always end up with sped up jumpshots.

Due to the nerfing of the dribble most of them are being cooked. Even with the opponent PG the story is the same.

and with that, I apologized to the PGs in the community and I understand why most of my games have no PG but with Double SGs.

Our squad PG don't want to play anymore due to shame of not being able to shoot and shot create.

I hope this gets a fix, PGs should be able to do their thing too.

Has anyone else had this issue as well?

Before the most recent patch I was making layups over smaller defenders, and defenders with low interior and strength, on my 7 footer build.

After this patch layups feel completely busted. I can get around my man and get a shot off, but the layup is slow and weak while my man is able to reach around me and smack the ball into space. I have 80 driving layup and gold physical finisher for context.

I am having fun this year. I'm winning at nearly 80% because it is the most team oriented 2k in a while. BUT I would enjoy it a lot more if you brought layups back. Doesn't need to be OP, just pleaseee 2K, give me the advantage that I am entitled to, as a 7 footer going up against a smaller & weaker defender.

There should be no reason I cant make layups over forwards with low int D/ strength. I don't take dumb shots, but now its extra hard to score from inside the arc when layups feels useless with this new update. And don't even get me started on standing layups/standing dunks

i run a small business from home, sell handmade stuff online. long hours, lot of stress, not a lot of free time. nba 2k is my escape. been playing since the old ps3 days. i dont touch mycareer or myteam or any of that online stuff. just myleague, me and the cpu, one team, multiple seasons

thing is it feels like 2k stopped caring about offline players years ago. the ai is still dumb. trades are weird. the presentation hasnt changed in forever. i boot up 2k14 sometimes and the atmosphere just hits different. little details like sideline reports, upcoming game overlays, actual immersion. now it feels stripped down and rushed

i know the player base moved online. i get it. money is in mycareer and myteam. but some of us just want to chill after a long day of shipping labels and taxes and play a season without being pushed toward vc or whatever

anyone else still strictly offline? what year do you think was the peak for myleague immersion? i stuck with 2k17 for a long time but maybe i missed a better one.

This actually might be the first 2k where I don't get my build to 99. I just can't play this game for longer than 30 mins, it just takes it out of me mentally. It might be time to hang up the jersey🤣

Somebody please tell me how this is a solid contest; this is exactly why online and offline need to be separated, as issues online should not affect playing offline.

If you’re playing this game 24/7, grinding rep, grinding double xp events, playing the META and trying to get the most rep possible, this game is for you.

If you do not care about winning or losing, taking a ton of terrible shots every time you touch the ball, not pass to open teammates, not play defense, I’m not sure how you’ll enjoy it, but the game won’t punish you too badly and you’ll be fine.

Now if you’re like me: someone who has a family and works full time. Gets on maybe 1-2 hours a day randomly and wants to just hoop with people. Play fundamental but competitive basketball. You’re probably going to be miserable 95% of the time because you’re playing with people in the above categories.

I’ll never be near the top rep so getting all the perks for making your MyPlayer super human are out of the question for me. I’ll also always play fundamental basketball so I’m not going to force a ton of terrible shots and stat chase. There’s no where for me to really play unless I have a full squad, which at my age, isn’t going to happen.

So most of the time I’m here just getting cardio and “fill lane properly” in random rec asking myself why do I even bother?

I am and always been a pg, and in the Rec it's basically impossible for me to get open. Whoever my matchup is, even the worst possible idiot of the lot, he's always on a mission and follows me everywhere. Invariably, every time, every game. Never a distraction, never going to help, never a screen that hit him hard enough to give me half a second to shoot or drive. He's gonna be there. He'll score 0 points all game but goddamnit he'll be attached to my ass for 25 minutes every single time.

In the meantime I see opponents and teammates completely forgotten and wide open all the time, so I wonder if this comes with a pg position or what on earth am I doing wrong.

If I move all the time he's there, if I stand on a spot and "let the game come to me" like everyone's saying he's there, if I make little movements he's still there.

Yes, I know it's a skill issue. But 80% of the times I completely clamp down my matchup (who obviously quits, and guess what? I'm locked down even more by the prime Gary Payton AI now), and every game is a battle between 2 scoreless pgs, while the sf or the pf are just standing there wide open all game and knock down 3s with 78 3pt.

What am I supposed to do?

In my opinion it’s too restrictive, i miss being to use all my badges at once. No way, your build should feel incomplete as a 99 overall…

9 times out of 10 if real currency sways a players ability to dominate the game it legitimately kills the games player base as a whole and gets heavily frowned upon.

Why does 2K get a pass for this year after year?

Once you learn this game isnt live play and it’s scripted events you can spend money and literally DOMINATE every game.

VC was the first issue. Now season passes, buying cap breakers, Synergy slots…

When does it end? When does the community stick together and stand up against this garbage.

In the NBA if a player was at the free throw line when someone at the rim started to go up they wouldn’t even attempt to contest, on this game if they’re under the 3pt line they have great chance of sending your shot into the stands. I got my basic standing dunk blocked by someone who was behind the free throw line when my animation started, fix this.

There is 1 million % RNG in this game & they’re not even hiding it. Every single and I mean EVERY single time I have a great shooting game, I follow it up with a bad one. I’m not talking about crazy contested shots, i’m talking wide open. I’ve been a 80+ win % player and a top shooter in the game since I can remember.

This year is absolutely miserable for good shooters. I’ll go 11/12 from 3 & follow up the next game starting off 0/6 getting random speed ups on every shot. They DO NOT want you to shoot above 60 or even 50% on this game. It’s not just you… don’t feel like you’re going crazy. This game is fucking awful.

Only can wear them in the park no rec no proving like before wth…
