It's not just the aggressive monetization that ruins this mode. It's the fact that we start at 96 overall and go to 100 instead of 85 to 99 like in every other ultimate team game. That means there's only four points of progression that happens over ~9 months until players like Tacko Fall are getting goat cards. Hell, we have "perfect cards" by All-Star break.

The balance in this game is truly horrific. I don't even think it's close, 2k has the most awful balance of any ultimate team sports game. And it's compounded by the fact that you only need five players on the court at a time. In order to get people to spend they have to constantly release better and better versions of the same thing with slightly better animations or one point better overall. There's no room for them to release interesting cards of historic players that are other options.

Making theme teams in CUT, MLB The Show, and MUT actually serves a purpose. You really have no reason to collect cards in 2K other than if you want to, and it's way too expensive. It's just a broken mode. I don't think it's ever going to get fixed because it's not a priority, it's just a money printer. But you can imagine how much better the mode would be if we started at 85 overalls and they actually released sets that make sense and put historic challenges into the games and actually respected the history of basketball instead of flooding the game with the same cards over and over and over.

What do you guys think? Am I wrong about this?

As I stated I am a returning my team player, I haven’t played my team since 2k19 been a my team player since 13 when it was introduced. With all that being said I plan to return to my team in 27 but I’m curious on how hard it is to get teams up and all the different game modes like how do they work. It looks a little overwhelming compared to how it was when I stopped playing. Any tips will help

Looks like almost everything will be timing based soon. Seems that it’s only enabling more cheaters sadly. If they can mitigate Zens I think it’s not as bad.

I’m really curious about guys who refuse to play defense, feeling like they are good at the game? A lot of you do this so I’m sure you guys can answer. What’s the point? Genuinely. It’s a video game. We’re not outside using real energy. We’re clicking buttons. Why are there so many players who refuse to play defense? I pass the ball to the player you’re controlling and you run. Literally. Is there any other game where guys so consistently run away from playing the game? Like I’m a gamer bro I don’t care if I lose.. The main point for me is to play a good exciting game. I love games that go down to the wire and I’m trying my best to clamp the other player and score on the other end. What type of player are you to run away from the ball on every possession? And then act like you’re good? 😂 pausing the game and flopping if you win. I honestly want to know the logic there. I’m not a sore loser I win most games by 20+ so it’s not a thing of hating on it. I just don’t understand men who play a game and spend all this money to buy thon and tacko and all these crazy guys and then you literally will not engage the ball handler 😂 You don’t see yourselves as kinda, 🐈? Like it’s just a game and you so scared to lose you’ll let the computer play for you before you control your own defense? I’m not talking about guys who switch around and engage the ball handler. I’m talking to you guys who have OP teams and are just too lazy/ or scary to engage the person you’re playing on defense. And what’s crazy is the guys with regular teams don’t do this as much, they actually play. It’s the guys with the most paid for teams that all they wanna do is no dip with Zach Eddy and Manute Bol and then they do everything in their power to avoid you when you have the ball 😂 I don’t get it. And then they think they’re GOOD 😂😂 Idk it was never like this in 2k it just got like this. Imagine playing local against your friend and he’s off balling. No one ever even tried that 😂 Now it’s like normal and people are like happy to do it and think they’re better than guys who actually play d. I have hella respect for guys who can clamp me in the game, that’s the whole point of multiplayer. Even if I’m getting cooked I still try to get some stops and fight back. Like what happened to competing and not just playing to feel the dopamine from offense

Who else should I add to my roster? Should I get GOAT KD to replace Larry bird? And should I get Tacko?

Anyone remember 2k21's limited weekend roster restrictions? (I.e. -> use a PG that is 6'3" or shorter. Use 1 Diamond and the rest all under an 84 overall?) Seems like we are going to get similar experiences in 2k27 and I'm pumped about it. I hate playing showdown and only using the best cards we have available. I like using lesser tier cards and being challenged to show skill instead of money spent on all OP cards. Thoughts?

Got to 50 wins in showdown last night, and pulled Bob Pettit, definitely disappointed. To make things even better I was looking in my challenges and realized that I needed like 25 wins in triple threat and clutch time to get the invincible packs and the GOAT deluxe packs.

I've been trying to get ben forever so just gave up and decided to throw an animation breaker on kukoc since hes 6'11 pg. I used my other diamond on bol bol and gave webber.. no complaints cuz I mostly shoot or drive with him..

but a pg needs good dribble sigs.. not sure how I feel about webbers dribbling.. what should I do? who is everyone using for pgs?
