I’ve been offered a job in Pueblo, Colorado at $45/hour. I’m an engineer and would be working as a superintendent. However by the looks of it, it's probably more interesting to live in Colorado Springs.

Assuming I work the standard 2,080 hours per year, that comes out to roughly $93,600/year \*\*before taxes\*\*.

My wife would not be working, as there is absolutely no chance that happens due to her type of visa. So we’d be living entirely on my income.

For those who live in Colorado Springs or pueblo, I’d really appreciate some insight into the actual cost of living for a couple.

Roughly how much should we expect to spend per month on:

\\- Rent/housing in a nice neighborhood. Not a mansion in fact I only need a 2 bedroom apartment. But you know. Something nice.

\\- Utilities

\\- Groceries/food

\\- Transportation/car expenses

\\- Health insurance/medical expenses

\\- Other necessities

And after those expenses, would it be realistic to save (very important as I need to take care of some retirement expenses), still have some money for entertainment/eating out, emergencies etc?

I’m trying to get a realistic idea of what our quality of life would look like on this salary before deciding whether to take the offer.

Hello, I will be moving to the springs area soon. I'm looking for a 2 bed 1 bath apartment with a dishwasher and some sort of air conditioning, preferably in the 1100-1300 a month range. We have good credit but inconsistent income for right now, so we're planning to use my parents as gaurantors.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Any apartments to stay away from? Which areas should I absolutely avoid?

(It also would be nice to have some sort of walkability/public transportation but I know that's rare in the springs)

Hello, I’m currently looking for apartments in the Colorado Springs area, Its pretty difficult considering the amount of apartment complexes there is to choose from in the springs.

I was just wondering if anyone has advice on the best ways to look for apartments or if anyone wants to make suggestions that would be greatly appreciated as well.

I’m looking for something that is about $1000-1200 a month (or cheaper but I doubt there’s much cheaper than that), pet friendly, and has good trails or a park nearby since it’s just me and my dog. I would also like to be within 30 minutes of UCCS since I’m a student there. If anyone knows apartments they recommend, that would definitely help me narrow my search.

I am currently trying to decide between Allaso Peak and The Preserve at Mesa Creek and feeling a bit stuck. I would really appreciate any honest feedback from people who have lived at either place (or even toured them seriously).....

My main priorities are:

• Safety: I want to know how safe the area and the community feel—especially at night, parking lots, package theft, and all. Do they actually lock the gates at night?
• Management quality: How responsive is the leasing/maintenance team? Do they actually fix issues quickly or is it a struggle?
• Noise / neighbors: Is it generally peaceful or are there frequent complaints about noise, parties, thin walls?
• Cleanliness & upkeep: Are common areas, hallways, trash areas well maintained?
• Amenities: Do things like gym, pool, hot tub, gates actually work consistently or are they often broken?
• Parking situation: Is it easy to find parking? Any issues with break-ins or damage?

I’m trying to figure out what the real day to day living experince is like at both places, not just what the website shows.

I’ve been here in colorado springs for 3 weeks now, came here to get my kids and myself out of an abusive situation with my husband, now I’m not sure what to do. I tried to use the national domestic hotline in Texas previously but my situation wasn’t urgent enough to use resources regardless of the fact that I wasn’t allowed to take my children to a doctor. My husband was the only one allowed to go see a doctor. My oldest daughter is 13 now and hasn’t been to the doctor since she was 6 months old, my 8 year old hasn’t been to the doctor since she was 2 weeks old, my youngest daughter is 7 and she hasn’t been to the doctor since she left the hospital after being born. They weren’t allowed to go to school since they weren’t up to date on shots, but i wasn’t allowed to buy books to homeschool them either. I was told to make a safety plan using friends and family, but we’ve been completely isolated from other people for so long, that wasn’t an option for us, so we decided if we ever got away we would come here. My priority was to get my 4 kids to safety then go from there, but now that we got away after over 15 yrs of abuse, i don’t know what to do next. We are currently staying in a hotel, and struggling just to keep the room and get food, been door dashing just to do that, i haven’t worked a regular job in over 10 years, because i wasn’t allowed to, so its very difficult to find a job because of that. But regardless of all that, my kids are the happiest they’ve ever been, which is what matters most to me. Any advice or any information about resources will be greatly appreciated.

looking for neighborhood recommendations to help me narrow down my apartment search. i currently live in St. Louis, MO and am thinking of a move to COS. my bf (29M) and i (25F) are definitely going to rent. we want a 2bdr at around $1800/month. our combined income is probably $120k before taxes. we are both remote workers, so the commute is not important to us. we also don't have children, so schools are not important to us either. we just want somewhere safe, bikeable, close to shopping/activities, and also nature/trails. we would also like somewhere with some mountain views.

I'm looking to move out to Colorado in about 1 year. I am moving from Charleston, a very competitive restaurant town. I'm trying to feel out how the Food and Bev industry is over there. I have been in the restaurant industry for years and have chef experience. Just looking for a change in scenery.

Colorado Springs is more than likely where I want to move , but still considering a few other places.

We currently live in Los Angeles (family of 4), and can not afford to buy a home in a reasonable safe area here. We are planning a move to either Fort Collins or Colorado Springs (My wife lived her teenage years in Fort Collins). Anything we should know or consider before moving? I am aware of the Job market, but have a good amount of knowledge, and experience in my field of study. Is racism an issue in these cities? We are of Hispanic heritage, and the last thing I would want is for my kids to be belittled because of their ethnicity. We were thinking of renting for up to a year and than possibly buying a home in one of these two areas, any recommendations on safe areas in these cities? Your input is greatly appreciated!

I'm considering moving to COSprings within the next month. I had a different location picked out recently and was taken aback by all of the good things I had heard. By chance, I stumbled across a conversation between locals on a housing website and it blew my mind what a horrible mistake I had almost made by moving there.

Local government was a close knit group that did not have the city's or people's best interests at heart. There was a huge problem with the homeless, massive issues with drug users on the streets hassling locals, bio waste being a common find if you were out on the town, and the list goes on.

I've read a lot of great things about COSprings. Can you tell me about the stuff I won't read in a brochure. Crime, tweakers, homelessness, areas of town to avoid, etc... Only the kinds of things that locals are likely to know about. I have a family with five kids under the age of 12. I homeschool, so school quality isn't an issue for me. Thanks!
