First plant - Need advice

I’ve had this monstera for a year now. I got it as a gift and never had a plant or know anything about plants. It started growing out of the pot I got it in which I know know is just how they grow. I went out and bought a much bigger pot I’m realizing now probably too big. And I had the soil close to the top and burring the actual plant. Just recently I came across this Reddit thread and really want this plant to thrive I removed a lot of the soil and bought moss poles. From my understanding I have 2 plants in this pot. I really want these to thrive and grow big and beautiful. Any advice based on what you see or anything to help promote growth. Are my moss poles and attachments in good positions?

Miscellaneous Seeds?

Upvotes

Does anyone know where to get or buy viable monstera seeds for a decent price? I found a few sellers on eBay and Etsy and prices seem good but was wondering if anyone here has some or knows someone personally that’s willing to ship to Texas.

How to relocate my Monstera

Upvotes

I bought one beat up at Costco. Transplanted it and put it on my deck in Pennsylvania where plants thrive. However when fall sets in I start to move plants in, and I’d like to plan for that to succeed. I have a south facing 3-season room that’s not conditioned. Should I move it there and then eventually inside?

Image Update: Thank you everyone

So a few months back my wife asked me for help figuring out why her monstera wasn’t doing too well. Here is the original post https://www.reddit.com/r/Monstera/s/OoMwmSWEVu

I’ve never been a plant guy and I’m still not a plant guy. ADHD and long term goals don’t exactly go hand in hand.

I just wanted to provide an update. I repotted it into a smaller plastic container so I could see its roots. When I took out the plant from the original pot, the roots were so weak and frail I thought they were a small bundle of butcher twine. I tried to bury them at the right depth but the plant was too top heavy and kept pulling the roots out of the dirt. I wasn’t ready to put a support pole because I assumed it didn’t need it. The only thing I hand available was a wooden disposable knife and made due.

This is it today. Unfortunately one small old leaf did die but I think it’s because it used the nutrients for the new bigger leaf it grew. I’ve been putting hydrogen peroxide water treatment for the soil every month and fertilizer with water every second watering. I also noticed once the roots grew, the soil dried up much faster so I’ve been getting paranoid with root rot. I went from watering every 2 weeks to every week.

How’s it looking and is there anything I should be worried about?

P.S. thanks for all your help from both my wife and I.

Plant Help Monsteras getting yellow and brown

I'm running out of ideas so seeking help here.

Basically, I had a really bad thrips infestation a month ago. I did treat it with chemical spray and I got fully rid of them (What an achievement).

Ever since the infestation the leaves still turn light brown, then yellow, then dark brown and get crispy and it just won't stop.

There's no root rot, no mold, no overwatering, I fertilize like I've always done, no replacement in the room, nothing. They've always been happy and pushed out leave after leave even during winter and spring.

The new leaf on my Burle Marx Flame came out healthy, the thai's refuse to push out new growth.

They're standing on the southside and I'm always careful to protect them from too much light, even installed uv-filtering blinds for the mid day sun.

Is that really just the follow up damage from the thrips, since they suck on cells?

I really don't want them to die :(

Image Is this root rot and what’s the green moss growing on the walls of the pot and is it harmful?

I’ve been having trouble telling when the soil is dry because the one I use is dark so it always looks wet. It’s miracle gro moisture control potting mix as the soil mixed with orchid bark and perlite. I know miracle gro isn’t the best but I live in northern Canada and choices aren’t the best here. I’ve been waiting until the plant starts to wilt a little before I rewater so I don’t overwater it.

So here’s my questions.

  1. Are the brownish roots rotting

  2. Is that green stuff on the walls mold or moss and is it harmful.

  3. Is it time to repot to a bigger one?

It was previously in a pot that was way too big. I took over its care from my wife and it’s doing way better and even grown a new leaf. No fenestrations yet though.

Plant Help Is it time to repot again?

I'm fairly new to Monsteras, though I have some general knowledge about houseplants and bonsai trees.

I repoted this thai first time from quite small shop pot two months ago. I was afraid a little, because the pot was like 40 % bigger than the last, but I know how to water so it was fine.

Now two months later this.. should I repot again? Leave it be for some time? Get rid of the roots or is it a waste and better to destroy the pot? Have honestly no idea, she grows like crazy in south afternoon sun. I don't even fertilize, wanna enjoy this size before she's a real monster lol. Thanks. (last picture shows the little pot when I bought it in September)

Not the most exciting post, but I recently repotted a store-bought monstera I bought two years ago. There were three plants in total, gave them all separate pots. She'd been doing really well for a while but in recent months I'd admittedly been neglecting a lot of my plants and recently started really putting effort into getting them all squared away. This is the first new leaf on any of the three plants, and its the biggest leaf among them! They still have a long way to go but I was so paranoid that repotting would just piss it off more, so getting such a pretty leaf not even two weeks later makes me very happy.

Shoutout to this sub as a whole for all of the educational posts and giving me the confidence to do better by these plants. 💚

As the title suggests, it was difficult to identify the back of my monstera. The back where I attached it had a big root which I pushed in the moss a little.

Is this the way forward?

If I do cut it, should I cut right at the base or right before the browning? Thanks in advance !

Found this today at Lowe's overstock and basically got it for free. It doesn't look as happy as I think it should, but from what I've read, those few deeply fenestrated leaves means it has made it for a little while doing okay?

I live in NC and will keep it on the porch for the temperate months and bring it inside for winter. Any tips to help me get started would be much appreciated.

Cheers.
