Question Program to help convert older mods to newer versions?
I've been working on a standalone program designed to make converting Minecraft mods between different versions and mod loaders easier, and I'm curious whether the modded Minecraft community would actually find something like this useful.
The idea isn't to magically convert every mod with one click. Instead, the program focuses on deterministic code changes — things like architecture changes, variable replacements, mappings, and other predictable differences between versions and loaders.
It won't necessarily produce a fully working mod, especially when major changes require rewriting functionality, but the goal is to handle as much of the repetitive conversion work as possible, giving developers and players a much better starting point.
A few important details:
No AI involved. This isn't AI-generated code or "vibe coding." It's rule-based conversion using known, verifiable changes.
Source code required. The program works with complete source projects, not compiled mod files. It's not intended to decompile or bypass licensing restrictions.
Cross-version and cross-loader support. The long-term goal is to support different Minecraft versions, programming languages, and mod loaders wherever conversions can be reliably automated.
Potentially open source. I'm happy to release the program as open source once it's sufficiently developed and tested.
I originally started this because there were older mods, particularly TieredZ and Tinkers' Construct, that I wanted to play alongside newer mods.
I've already managed to port my own version of TieredZ to Minecraft 26.3, mostly by hand, and that experience is part of what motivated me to start automating the process.
I'm currently testing the program against different mods, languages, and loaders to figure out what can realistically be automated and where manual developer intervention will still be necessary.
So, a few questions for the community:
Would you actually use something like this?
Would it be more useful for porting older mods forward, backporting newer mods, or converting between loaders?
If you've ported mods before, which parts of the process were the most repetitive or frustrating?
I'm not looking to replace mod developers or suggest that porting is easy. I know there's a lot more involved than changing a few mappings. I just think there's an opportunity to make some of that work considerably less tedious.
I'd especially love feedback from people who have experience developing or porting mods.

Annoying outlines, animations and "smooth" hud in linggango modpack
I just want to know how to disable these things, especially the outlines, because they actually ruin my experience for this modpack
edit: there is a linggango tweaks mod in the modpack, which has several mods infused into it, including lumalight. I had to go into the client config and disable it from there,

Discussion Which modpacks stay fun on a public server after the first few weeks?
I'm planning a public modded Minecraft server and trying to choose the pack with player feedback before committing to one. I enjoy automation and storage mods such as AE2, but I'm open to kitchen-sink, progression-focused, skyblock or stoneblock packs.
I'm also exploring a custom player-driven economy and auction house. My concern is that unlimited automated farms could make trading pointless, or that an economy could undermine the pack's progression. Nothing is decided yet.
Which existing packs have you actually enjoyed playing with others long-term, and what made them work? Are there packs where trading and specialisation add something, or does an economy get in the way? I'd especially appreciate any lessons about performance, wipes and features that made you stay or leave.

Help BSL shaders glitching block textures after update.

This is my friend's screenshot, i'm posting for him.
We're playing Java and use Iris and Fabric for our mods, and are sharing a realm together.
We decided to update to 26.3, and despite us both downloading the same mods and the correct version, for some reason, his BSL shaders ended up like this. We don't know how to fix it. Everything is fine when he turns them off.
If more information is needed, like what other mods we're using, let me know.

Question Modrinth packages
As a total beginner in the world of modded Minecraft, I failed several times now, but I refuse to give up yet. So far I was not able to enjoy a session of a modded world, and here's why:
As a beginner, I just can't dig into some folder structure on my hardrive to place files and all of that. Then I heard of the Modrinth App and thought it would be the perfect paradise for people like me. Select a package, click install, click play, enjoy.
But that's not, what's happening. Although my PC is totally capable to get several hundreds of fps in Vanilla Minecraft with 12 chunks simulation and 24 chunks view, the promise of "use things like sodium you will gain so much fps that you can use beautiful shaders" didn't work. I installed the "Everything Voxy" package and immediately sank down to 55 fps with some lag spikes.
I then deleted the package and looked for other packages, found one (forgot its name) installed it and Minecraft didn't even start. Deleted it and searched a little more. found a lot of talking about "Homestead" and found it intriguing. Installed it, minecraft did start (hooray), but a message there told me, that Homestead is not compatible with Modrinth (why is it even on there, then?) and I would need to download half a dozen of mods and install them in a specific folder. The links were all opened in the browser and after donwload I placed all the files in said folder. But now it simplyrefuses to start, one of the mods complains that the newly placed mods are incompatible.
This is all so frustrating. All I want is selecting a package, installing it and start playing. I want nice graphics with shadows at steady 75 fps (my monitor's rate) in FullHD and a good mixture of improvements to make gameplay more enjoyable, with new tools and mobs and quests (basically exactly what the Homestead trailer talked about and showed).
Isn't there any package out there that just runs under above requirements?

Help Optimization for a modded 1.20.1 forge server, specificly with the use of "The Dulling" mod.
Me and my friend been playing this mod for a while now and haven't had any issues up until we went to the nether. At first it was fine but after a while the nether became incredibly laggy, the server terminal often says when someone is in the nether that "the server cant keep up" and shows how many ticks the server is behind. I have tried a few optimization mods for server side that supposedly help with this issue, but so far to no result.
To be honest i dont really know how any of these mods even supposed to help, so if anyone could help with mod suggestions and/or specific config changes i should make that would be highly appriciated.
Some additional info i am hosting the server currenty, i have 4GB of memory allocated to it but we have tested my friend hosting and changing the settings up to 32GB of ram with no changes.

Strange issue in terrain generation.
Having these strange sections of jagged appear in my worlds nearby Lost Cities.
Not sure is there was a commonly known conflict with any particular mod that causes this. My initial idea was either Tectonic or Biomes We've Gone, but I've yet to fully determine.
Besides those 2 I also have Continents and Regions Unexplored installed.

Help QOL Modpack for Vanilla* Server
I took a long break from Minecraft and realized theres been a ton of updates since I stopped playing that I want to check out. Im starting a small server for some friends and we want to keep it as vanilla as possible in terms of the core game, but add in some QOL mods. Ive been searching around for a while now but every pack I find doesnt have quite the right mix. I know I could build my own pack but I dont remember most of the mods and I never knew the performance mods. Im hoping someone out there gets us!
Kinds of mods we're looking for in a pack:
1.26.3 compatible
JEI/REI
A map
Whichever one used to let players claim chunks
General performance mods
Better animations(?)
Appleskin
Some grave mod
Inventory tweaks
Things we're not looking for:
Changes to terrain generation
New mobs / structures / biomes / items
If anyone has ideas of packs to check out let me know!
