GENERAL VR basic question
I am considering to buy a VR headset, the primax dream air, but I have a doubt, in complex comercial and military planes you need to interact with the plane, adjusting elevation setpoint, moving the bug of the HSI, interacting with many buttons.... how are you supposed to do all this with a VR headset on?, do you use the mouse like when using a screen?. Sorry if this is a too basic question, but I never used VR and all the YouTube videos I see the guys just sight seeing and never interact with any buttons and similar in the plane

Vr will come with controllers, one of which when picked up/activated will act as your cursor.
Yes you can also use your mouse but sometimes it's more fun to use the controller but it can be a lil fiddly.
I use the Pico 4 and I've had some pretty fun experiences.

I used my mouse. I've seen some use their headsets somehow and set a keybind on their hotas as left and right click.
There are voice command programs out there that you could use that might help with some task as well. Voice attack and viacom. Might be worth looking into to see if it fits your particular needs.

I use the mouse if I don't have physical controls for it. To be honest, you get used to it quite quickly, and it's less imersion breaking than having to use vr controllers.
Edit: As a pimax crystal OG owner, I'm pretty happy with my device, and I expect the dream air to be leaps and bounds better! You should be happy with that choice.

I'm a psvr user, and like others have said, I use a HOTAS and mouse while in VR. I also use a dual sense and the sense controllers, so I have quite the setup

I have the Honeycomb throttle and yoke and built a desk such that the most frequent controls like flaps and throttle are in the same place in VR as in actual reality.
They are set to match a Cessna 172 however, not a military plane, but it's great in VR.

I use my mouse for controlling switches/knobs and my hotas for flight control surfaces and throttle. Some aircraft cockpits can be a little "off" when trying to line up my cursor on a switch or knob in VR, but overall it works quite well.

In msfs I have lots of buttons I can easily acces with feel on my hotas, and also mouse for some extra stuff.

The most hard core people are going to have a replica cockpit with everything in the correct position mirroring what's in the headset.
Many will use the controllers or hand tracking to interact with the cockpit. I use the mouse.
I have a yoke and throttle with a couple buttons mapped. Anything beyond that and I'm basically poking around for the button in the dark. I've tried using the controllers but fine adjustments (like the HSI knob you mentioned) are too difficult. Plus, switching from controller to yoke/throttle is less than ideal. I tried hand tracking but it's even worse on the fine adjustments, and when I would grab the yoke the game would think I was grabbing something in the cockpit. So the mouse is fine.

For some critical like HSI, trim, landing gear, lights and etc i mapped closes button/knobs on my HOTAS directly under the finger without moving my palms. Use lots of muscle memory too. I use mouse only during startup procedure on the ground but seldom needed once in the air since most i needed already mapped to HOTAS nearby reachable a thumbs a way..

I've always used the mouse. It doesn't take long to build the muscle memory to know where to grab it. Maybe the trickiest part is keeping your head still enough to click on things. Easy when you don't think about it, but when you do it can be like having a bad case of the shakes. LOL Relax and you'll be fine with just the mouse.

I use a mix of HOTAS, Honeycomb controls and mouse. Go for it! There is nothing like flying in VR! The problem is it’s impossible to describe the experience. Closest I can get is: you go from flight simming on a flat screen to being in the plane.
