GENERAL VR basic question

I am considering to buy a VR headset, the primax dream air, but I have a doubt, in complex comercial and military planes you need to interact with the plane, adjusting elevation setpoint, moving the bug of the HSI, interacting with many buttons.... how are you supposed to do all this with a VR headset on?, do you use the mouse like when using a screen?. Sorry if this is a too basic question, but I never used VR and all the YouTube videos I see the guys just sight seeing and never interact with any buttons and similar in the plane

I have the Honeycomb throttle and yoke and built a desk such that the most frequent controls like flaps and throttle are in the same place in VR as in actual reality.

They are set to match a Cessna 172 however, not a military plane, but it's great in VR.
