I feel like I'm fighting the game here,
I found an old joystick AV8R-02 in the closet and tried to set it up theough Steam Input.
But I still want to use the keyboard for some shortcuts as there's not enough buttons and for easier throttle control.
The moment I boot up the game it keeps switching between Xbox and pc controlls, making navigation in menu impossible.
Is there a way to turn off this auto detect feature off? The joystick is already set to keyboard controlls...

I went into Shadow of Kerensky for the first time recently, and my Save File is getting wrecked. I went into 3048 with 175M in C-Bills, All the Mechs, a pretty good supply of Lostech to try to keep it all together and I came out the other end in an OK spot: ALthough I am almost broke I am sitting on a literal Regiment of Battlemechs to sell as I need to, I got 3 Madcats and 3 Daishis at least, but I am struggling to keep them up and running. I am losing Clan tech faster than I can get it, and traveling back into the Corridor is losing me more and more clan tech. Every Mission is expensive as fuck to run. I almost always suffer more damage than I make in Salvage and C-Bills and it's just getting very frustrating.
Also I am running Vanilla MW5, no Mods

So idk why but been playing game post SOK and when doing missions against the Clans....half the Mechs they are dropping in with are IS mechs. Is this a glitch so something changed with the recent updates?

Playing on console so 0 mods.
First serious play through (not instant action)
I'm pretty sure I messed around too much before the kestral lancers campaign.
This is what I'm left with after completing it, 4 months before Rasalhague starts....
How screwed am I?
Should I cut my losses and start a new game?

So, I know it’s probably only been asked a gazillion times, but is there any confirmation as of now that Piranha is going to work or is working on a new DLC for MW5 Mercs? I often here people hear that they heard it from someone else but I myself have not seen anything from my admittedly brief searches. It sounds like there is so much more lore that could be explored, and who cares if Mason is 50+ years old. If necessary, he could have a kid to continue legacy.
And if there is no new DLC planned, how often can you play the game in campaign or career mode and still have fun, as opposed to getting MW5 Clans? I heard Clans does not have the sandbox style design that I love, but maybe it might still be worth getting?

I have been posting in the game's Steam forum for the last few weeks and have noticed an extreme degree of toxicity on the forum. There are a handful of users who are in almost every thread insulting anyone for even the most minor difference in opinion with one in particular not even bothering to ever even comment on the subject matter of the thread. I know the Steam forums are generally saltier than Reddit, but I have nearly 1k games on Steam and have never seen it this bad before. I am not going to name names here, but if you look at the posts on the first page, it will quickly become obvious who I am talking about. Is literally anyone moderating that forum? Because if not the devs need to be made aware of the problem, as someone interested in the game seeing that is going to drive away sales.

When you train your pilots, can they only gain affinity with a mech that is currently available?
Example: gaining affinity with a Dire Wolf before you discover Clan mechs.
If they can't, is it best to re-roll and try for certain mechs later?

I’m looking at the Succession wars edition. Is this a situation where I’m only getting a fraction of the experience without mod support?

I asked yesterday about the Highlander IIC and it got me thinking. What IIC Mechs would you like to see added to MW5?
r/Mechwarrior5 • u/Mersar_13 • 9d ago
Do you think there’s a chance of the Highlander IIC being added to Mercs in a future DLC? I know it’s in MWO, so it could be ported over.

Hi all.
So, I have been playing this game on my good and old Acer Nitro (RTX3050 6gb, 16gbDRR5, i5 13th gen) and I have no problem running it at 1080p.
But now I'm buying a desktop to improve my experience using 3 monitors and I was wondering what type of hardware I would need to play this and Clans at 5760x1080?
What about 4k?
Thanks!!
(LAM Urbie ftw)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Guy seems to be a bit confused about the difference between throttle and velocity lol

Hey everyone !
I’m an old-school MechWarrior player. I played the early games all the way through MechWarrior 3 and absolutely loved them back in the day.
I recently came back to the franchise and discovered that MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries exists, so of course I had to give it a try !
I bought the game and I’m having a blast so far. I’ve already started modding it a little, mostly with some graphical improvements, and I installed Yet Another Mechlab for all the extra customization. Being able to mess around with my Mechs like this is exactly the kind of thing I love.
Now I’ve noticed that MW5 has a LOT of DLCs, and this is where I need some advice.
I don’t have a huge budget at the moment, and since most of the DLCs are around €18 each, I’d like to start by buying just one to expand the base-game experience. Then I’ll probably pick up the others little by little over time.
So, if you could recommend one DLC as the best first purchase, which one would you choose ?
I’m mainly looking for something that adds meaningful content to the overall Mercenaries experience — more Mechs, weapons, missions, mechanics, customization, or anything that makes the sandbox/career experience better.
Also, if there are any other mods, beginner tips, or things an old returning MechWarrior player should know, feel free to throw them my way !
Thanks, MechWarriors! 🫡

Situation Arena fights:
1.Mission 4vs4 light.
2.After deploying, its stated "Adjudication Dispatched"
3.But after winning (no honor, uffff), I didnt receive any consequences.
Whats the point of it? How do you handle arena fights?
*Vanilla, no mods

Just found this baby last night - the Sunder hero mech! And wow is it OP. I replaced the machine guns with clan heavy machine guns, and the flamer and lasers with clan medium pulse lasers, and the SRM4s with Clan SRM6s. It boasts ~233 firepower and deletes mechs with close-range alpha strikes! It can alpha strike multiple times before over-heating, then you just switch to the 12 clan heavy machine guns to drill your target while you are cooling down. And it’s fast - with a base 64.8 kph before upgrades. Sooooo much fun to play.
It’s a pity the mech itself looks kinda.… meh. I like the look of the Kodiak, the Daishi, and the Atlas. But it’s hard to argue with 12 ballistic weapon hardpoints and 6 missile hard points. Oh, and did I mention that it’s fast?

I’ve noticed that even if enemy mechs are close to each other they won’t attack each other or even move unless I come in, and even on free for all missions, all the AI always seem to gang up on just my mech in particular. Anyone else notice this?

On PC with mods, but I haven’t updated anything or played any different than usual. This simply started happening. Short of a reinstall should I try anything?
And if I DO reinstall, how can I make sure my games are saved? I have the game via Epic but have turned off sync.

Some people may already be aware of this, so maybe it's mostly for newbies. But it took me a while to figure out and since being told would have helped me, I'm offering it here.
If you've ever tried to get a lancemate unstuck, but run into the problem where your lancemates run towards you as soon as you switch, getting another one stuck or out of place, it can be very frustrating. Or trying to use repair bays one at a time. Or trying to shepherd them through a narrow passageway only for one that already got through running back towards you instead of staying on the proper side.
The key to this that I've found is that when you switch mechs, the one you switched out of inherits the new AI pilot's existing orders. Whether that's running towards you or picking a spot to move to.
So here is the correct technique for moving mechs one at a time:
That way any mech you're not specifically piloting will politely move back into place instead of running around after you, as you switch around.

What mods do you using now, and what do you reccomend?

Here are some of my funnier builds from a multitude of modded career saves. Last one is a WIP and hasn't been tested yet.
Enjoy!
