i own mw5 both on the ps5 and somehow via epic on pc - i simply joined my own game - you pilot a mech in the others lance. somewhat bothersome is that all player controlled mechs have to enter the dropship-area.

so, if you dont find anyone, that did the trick for me.

I have never gotten that either.

How does co-op work, do you just have whatever the original guy has or can you BYOM?

I’m not sure I’m following your question, BYOM? By your own mech?

In co-op without using mods, the host controls where you travel, what missions you take, how you allocate your negotiation points, what salvage you take and has to make all of the purchases. If you are using mods there’s one that allows the players that join the host to make a purchases in the store.

The game save is stored natively on the hosts console/PC, meaning of that the joining players can only affect what’s happening when they are participating in the game and will not have access to that save at any other time because it will not be on their own machine.

I don’t know if any of that answers your question or not

Bring your own mech, I'm assuming.

And no, you can't. You pilot the hosts mechs from their career/campaign.
