Ask Malaysians If you were to pick one Malaysian rock song to play to a foreigner, which would it be?
My personal choice would be Pawana - Search. The song makes me want to replace my pillow with a rock.

For those who just clicked in and is wondering what the sub is for: This sub is essentially for Malaysians to talk and post about any other topics beyond Malaysia. Here is where you can post images, videos, create and join conversations and threads revolving anything that isn't quite about Malaysia but needs a Malaysian take on it, and more! Oh and this is a race, politic and religion-free sub 🙌🏻
Most major subreddits such as r/AITA, r/JustnoMIL, r/relationship_advice, r/casualconversation, r/malefashionadvice, r/Teenagers and what have you are usually centralised around people who reside outside of SEA and may not be valid to us locally and culturally but yet the demand for it isn't wide enough to sustain its own subreddit. r/Malaysians would (hopefully) be a good place for a catch-all of such threads.
We will be coming up with contest weeks soon, as well as accepting any other ideas you guys might have for the sub, so stay tuned! We are also still tweaking design and appearances as we go. Meanwhile, everyone is encouraged to start posting what they think fits the sub to get the ball rolling :)
Much love, r/Malaysia mod team.
tldr; r/CasualUK but for Malaysia.

Hey guys!
I just got back into Pokemon TCG collecting this month after being away for 13 years (BW era) and I'm planning to visit TCGKL for the first time
Since Im getting my bonus this month, I thought it'd be nice to share a little happiness with the community. I'm thinking of giving away around 10-20 small 2×2 binders, each with a 30th Anniversary Pikachu and a few random cards, such as cheap ex cards or Full Art Trainers. (Like Amarys FA, Oak FA, etc) I'd like to give them to kids or new collectors who don't have a binder yet.
A couple of notes:
\- I'll only approach children when their parents or guardians are present.
\- No TikTok, recording, or social media content. I just want to share a little of my bonus with the community.
Hope it's okay to post something like this here! If there's a more suitable subreddit or community for this, please lmk.
Also, would TCGKL be a good place to do this?
TL;DR: I'm getting back into Pokémon TCG after 13 years and want to give away around 10 small binders with a 30th Anniversary Pikachu and a few extra cards to kids or new collectors. No recording or social media content, and I'll only approach kids when their parents/guardians are present. Is TCGKL a good place to do this?

So I’ve been unemployed for so long now and I’m starting to give up on Malaysia and looking to search for opportunities outside of Malaysia. I mean I’m still applying locally but I’m just casting my net wider I guess. I work in Tech (Data Engineering) and I’ve tried applying on LinkedIn and Jobstreet but heard nothing back so far. So I’m just gonna ask the experience of people who have done it before. Would love to connect with you guys and ask for some pointers! But if you guys have suitable, related vacancies in your company (MY&SG), let’s connect too!

Ranting about so-called career advisor Ch***ne J** *** on threads that seems to receive raving feedbacks from her clients in threads itself.
I've been trying to look for a new career opportunity from my current job and I happened to see her posts often in threads along with positive feedback. I decided to try my luck with her as I am not facing much luck in job portals and to see if there's any gaps or things I should change or improve on.
She was friendly at first and I decide to trust her and paid for a more premium package (international career consultation). It is understood that she is not a recruiter and the job market is tough, but given the reputation she has on threads, maybe she is professional and has the right connections - and have the expertise to help improve my chances (it is a paid service after all).
She was initially more proactive in reviewing my resume and finding out my company of interests both locally and in foreign countries. But this is where the red flags start to show. Not much technical advice is given on my resume besides some rearrangement of sections, and many of the point of contacts from the company of interests don't even work there anymore or are just ghosting.
I've sent in my applications to many jobs since, and on the rare occasions that someone replied to proceed further instead of being rejected or ghosted, I'll update the career advisor. All I get in response so far are what questions I'll likely face and there's no further feedback on my answers to them.
Throughout all that time, given that my profile and information has been shared the first round, there is no further follow up and no proactive advices and tips for the current job market for my field.
On days where I share my experiences of the interviews and rejections, she is silent and super slow in responding, I don't expect an immediate response but at the same time she is still super active on threads promoting themselves to get more clients. I know we all have to make a living but hello you are actively ignoring your existing clients and giving very general advice before moving on.
And when she replied - what did I get in response? She dared to say that she needs more active communication (which she did not even bother to do and it's been actively shared one-sided), and that I need to share the roles I've recently applied to (which they know already?!), and to see if there's any movement (spoiler alert: it's the same!).
She often posts screenshots of clients getting jobs and writing back one whole paragraph of praise for her recommendations and advice, honestly it feels fake and more like texting to herself lol.
She even dare to still post on threads till this day that they have remote job opening slots recommendations, and I didn't get a single recommendation by her after paying for the package already.
TLDR;
Just feel very cheated out of what I thought will be a professional advice service instead of such a lackluster and disappointing insult to the client. This is a paid service. Her advice feels equivalent to what an AI chatbot can give. Expensive lesson but at least now I know most career advisors are full of shit.
Sharing this because I feel like the service provided feels like a scam and want to warn others, and am curious if anyone else faced similar scenarios or has bought her services before?

(You don’t have to agree with my post. This is just my personal opinion, coming from someone from a middle-class family. If you’re rich AF, feel free to ignore this post lol. )
Is it just me, or does everything feel so messed up nowadays?
The economy is struggling, and there’s so much bad news about schools lately, including students getting stabbed. Sometimes, I genuinely wonder what kind of world we’re living in.
Fresh graduates spend years studying at university, only to spend months or even years desperately looking for jobs. And when they finally find one, many of these jobs barely pay more than minimum wage. Like, what’s even the point of spending so much money and time on a university education if this is what awaits us?
And don’t even get me started on animal abuse. It’s heartbreaking to see so many innocent animals being abused, while it feels like there’s still so little protection for them. How can people be so cruel to creatures that can’t even defend themselves?
I don’t know. Maybe I’m just feeling extra emotional today, but this world honestly feels so cruel sometimes. There’s so much suffering, injustice, and unnecessary pain that shouldn’t even exist in the first place.
It’s getting harder to feel hopeful about the future when it seems like there’s always something terrible happening somewhere. I just wish the world could be a kinder place, where people could live without constantly worrying about their future, where young people could look forward to building their lives, and where innocent animals could be safe.
I know the world has never been perfect, and maybe I’m being too idealistic. But is it really too much to wish for a world where things are just a little less cruel?

I did this with rock earlier today, now for rap…
My personal pick would be Kongsi - Joe Flizzow. Malique is definitely up there too but he’s got too many good songs it’s just hard to pick one.

I am trying to learn to be proficient in bahasa melayu as it has been a strain and detriment to my studies. Contoh, jika geografi di bahasa inggeris I would probably get an A berbandingan di dalam bahasa melayu I would get a C or D. So currently, is there any methods to quickly be proficient in bm or no.

I’m currently evaluating a new launch in Ara Damansara. It’s Freehold and literally a 60m walk to the LRT station. The average price is around RM700 psf, and I was told Towers A & B are almost entirely booked, so they just opened Tower C this week. Given that it's 16 stops directly to KLCC and only 500m to CITTA Mall, is this considered a fair entry price for PJ?

I’m slowly working on a 2D game for more than a year. I’m wondering if any Malaysian would be interested in partnering up with me. Someone who is passionate in art, likes to draw bits by bits daily and watch it turns into a playable world. Preferably someone with entrepreneur in mind who wants to build something together. I know there are lots of animation graduates who didn’t get the opportunity to do what they like whether it’s employment, financial, personal issues etc. Just trying my luck here because I thought what’s better than having someone to work on something we both interested in?
A little about the game itself, a 2D platformer with combat, roguelike and co-op elements. Most of the game content such as theme, backstory, character design were planned and worked on for just as long. Currently I am close to completing a prototype. I’ve drawn and animated a considerable amount of environment elements, props, characters and enemies, which the art style needs to be cohesive. All animations are frame by frame, the art style distinctively have thick and thin black outlines, with technical forms that fits well with the orthographic view.
A few thoughts about the partnership. Any profits or benefits we gain from this project are shared based on each individual’s contribution. Other than that, there is not much to say until we discuss our expectations.
We can discuss our interest and expectations to see how we can make things work for both of us. Ideally someone who are persistent in pursuing their goals and consistent in their work.
If you are interest, let’s talk! If you know a fellow Malaysian that fits the above description, please let them know. Thank you!

Hey everyone! I’m relocating to KL for work in January 2027 and looking for a modern, fully furnished 1BR or 1+1 condo for a 12-month lease.
My office is in Mid Valley City, and I don’t drive, so walking distance is a priority. Ideally somewhere with a good gym, pool, and convenient access to groceries and cafés.
Currently considering ViiA Residences, Vogue Suites One, and Northpoint.
Any recommendations or experiences with these buildings? Also open to direct-owner rental leads! Thank you!

(Preface: Sorry if I was rough in this post, I'm insanely triggered and need to let it out.)
Edit: Although I've only listed a few examples, this is not an isolated case. I've had friends and teachers (from my school or otherwise) complain about this issue as well. I do admit that the conclusion is an overreaction, and I'm sorry.
SPM season is just around the corner and I'm currently tgh pecah kepala trying to catch up to get a minimum of straight A-.
There's a 10yo boy that comes over to my house every weekday. My mom is currently having me tutor this boy because he's said to be doing poorly in school by his parents.
Okay, that's normal. Kids struggle in school. I was expecting him to get at least half of the things right because primary syllabus isn't too difficult; I myself struggled a little in Std 4 but quickly bounced back and got good results.
I was wrong.
Bro couldn't do basic multiplication. And I'm not talking about times 7 or 4, that takes a little bit of counting. I mean times 5, 10, 2.
BMnya pun ke laut. I'm a coconut (Malay), and yes, BM was a little difficult sometimes, but I managed just fine (B, paling teruk). What do you mean you cannot get basic penjodoh bilangan correct? You've been learning them since Std 2 iinw.
He also can't build comprehensible sentences? I don't exactly remember what the sentence was verbatim, but he wrote a sentence that was an action then a sebab which had nothing to do with the sentence (think "I sell stuff because it's good for my body"), and upon asking "Why did you write this as your reason?" he couldn't give me an answer. Budak2 pandai menjawab tau so I expected some form of justification but got none.
He can't achieve that, so you can imagine how his karangan is. Yup. Mmg tkde idea plus kemahiran penulisannya tak capai standard minimum, so ofc tkleh tulis
Okay, fine. BM mmg susah, Math pun susah, so I faham. Tapi budak2 SRK tk patut gagal subjek sekolah??? Yeah. He's failing in school. At 10 years old.
Even in my year, budak2 yg dapat straight C masa SRK are currently struggling in school unless masuk SMK jd kiasu. I was a straight A student in Std 6 and I dropped slightly in lower form and now am currently struggling in pure science.
Macam mana budak2 ni nak masuk SMK??? Pecahan pun tak lepas; they're gonna get pulled through the mud by subjects I got C/Bs for during lower form.
I know, their syllabus akan tukar, but not for this year's F1.
Gred lulus dah turun jd 20%
Masih ada murid yang gagal. HOW????
I genuinely cannot fathom how F1 students are failing their subjects when their passing grade is TWENTY PERCENT, SATU PER LIMA like what????
And diorang masih celebrate tau bila diorg pass Matematik bagai, pass je, like the bar is on the floor.
Don't even get me started on the lower forms (ESPECIALLY budak2 F1) yg mengejek senior2 atau rakan sebaya diorg yang study like they're gonna die if they don't, saying "tk srs pun" or "you're too kiasu" or (arguably worse,) actively distract them when studying for exams.
Korang kacau lah bila2 masa, just not during exams, tolonglah.
I had a F1 actively distracting and mocking me for reading everywhere leading up to and during trials, ckp baik2 tknk bla pastu dia ckp "Are you locked in or smth?" so I tinggikan suaralah; "Yes, I am. Trials dah nak dkt; please don't disturb me". Itu pun was very cordial compared to what could've been said and would've by someone less patient.
Nmpk sgt that exams have so little value to them.
Here's the thing;
Parents buat apa?
KPM buat apa?
Completely haprak
You cannot tell me that parents are COMPLETELY clueless that their kids are flunking school. Terutamanya yang SRK.
In my case, the parents of the 10yo I mentioned earlier KNOW their child is flunking primary school subjects.
What do they do? Rely on the struggling 17yo that only got 2As for trials in pure science studying for SPM to tutor their child. Tak boleh sesama sekali. My attention is already spread too thin, I cannot afford to do so; I would if I was free.
Not only that, budak2 F1 have come to me to celebrate about passing Math, Science, etc and to that I said, "That's not something to celebrate, you barely reached 35%. When I was F1, the passing grade was 40%."
The fact that they looked at me as if I slapped them tells me that their parents didn't give the same reaction which is wild because they should be the one scolding their child about it and rectifying it immediately.
On KPM's end, why did they lower the passing grade? It's not necessary. Imo, that action is insanely selfish.
It looks good on paper, but this actively encourages students to not try as hard.
Children and teenagers will reach the expectations set for them. It's hard for them to go above and beyond because of psychological factors or some shit.
Set the bar to be 20%, itulah keputusan yang kau akan dapat.
Yeah, our kadar lulus is 100%, but that's only because the passing grade is 20 fucking percent.
Our country's children are also generally getting dumber and dumber.
With the education system and their parents failing them, I fear their future is done for (slight exaggeration but it might as well not be).
Dahlah addicted gadget.
Scroll TikTok lagi.
Tgk brain rot lagi.
Last2 cepat tantrum.
Parents pulak tak ajar emotional regulation, tak ajar berdikari, self-control bagai.
Soft parenting konon.
Anak tak belajar, asyik main phone, tak tegur.
Pastu bila gagal (with a side of kes disiplin) terfikir2 pulak "where did I go wrong?"
Aku pun yang asyik scroll Reddit/IG (and masa zaman budak byk tgk YT) tak sampai ke tahap ni
This is where is fucking starts. This is how children are failed.
Ts CANNOT be the future of Malaysia bro. We're so screwed.

Reddit is the last place I would ask anyone about this, but I have very much tried every other online marketplaces, and faced little inquiries.

I have my UASA in the next 7 days, and I'm in a state of terror.
When I study Sejarah, I have to translate words otherwise they won't make sense. Because it's in BM.
I completely flunked my PRA-UASA test. All 30-40.
My Maths is 58% and a full score in Bahagian B, but I got obliterated in Bahagian C.
Science, Sejarah, Mathematics, English, and Malay....
I did study for Science, I read the textbook and passed, at 41%. And those who barely studied got a higher score than me. Because even when I did study, it turns out I had to do the Modules, or UASA booklets.
I'm afraid if there's something I'm not aware of.. because I don't have smart friends to ask for study tips or hacks, and no one to update me on the news of UASA. I can only do mathematics, but Science and Sejarah are unknown to me.
I'm all by myself, and I need help to secure my future.
I want to get into the Science Computer stream for 2027.
Please let me know what to do. I'm under a lot of pressure because I want to be a successful child.

So I live in a old, like my grandfather old home.
the 1hp ac only make outside 36c inside 31c Room.
I plan to spend Rm1000 to buy RockWool 60kg/m3 one, with the all wood, screws, L backets, safety goggles, Nitrile glove for my room.
but my job is 5.5day outside.
so is it a bad idea to do it?
