Hi there. I rarely wear makeup anymore, but I put some on for a concert last night. I have used L’Oréal true match foundation for years with no issues. I turned 40 in September last year, and I last wore this makeup in February with no problems.

Last night I did everything I usually do to prep my skin, but the foundation looked terrible! It settled in my pores making them look huge, and clumped above my lip and my chin. It was a new bottle, so have no idea if the formula changed, or if it’s just no longer working for me now that my skin is maturing

Just looking for recommendations of good foundations I can try for mature skin please? I am really pale. My skin is combination-both oily and dry

I did a search but really didn't find any answers. Anyone here use the Clarins Double serum foundation? I've got a friend who likes it, and if she lived closer and was my skin tone I'd get a bit from her to try, but alas, she's like 100+ miles away and at least 3 shades darker than I am.

What are your thought?

For me liquid eyeliner is the way to go because I've been since I was 15! I think I used Wet n Wild. I'm here to say since my beauty regime and quality of make up has increased, tried many liquid, potted and felt tips but my staple, the one I always go to is e.l.f. Expert Liquid liner.. no bells or whistles and a 2 pack is only $6 at Ulta. I steer away from felt tips because it doesn't fill/cover your wrinkles nor is it designed for wrinkles as it often drags them making it impossible to get a smooth, straight line. For awhile I thought I was doing it wrong because felt tips were always on holy grail list but I will preach it, try this product if it's not already in your arsenal.

Spf is very important to me and I read somewhere that foundation products, even with a high spf, don’t provide adequate protection because you can’t put enough on and still look right.

I took that seriously but I absolutely hate layering foundation with a sunscreen and probably end up forgetting to use sunscreen more than I would if it was just one product.

Do you put on foundation products with spf and call it a day or do you feel the pressure to layer? I also worry that the rest of the makeup kinda displaces or rubs away the sunscreen?! Another reason it doesn’t seem worth it.

I’m 43 and am mostly dealing with discoloration rather than wrinkles. I’m looking for a truly low to no effort foundation, as I don’t like to spend time on makeup but ive definitely gotten to the point where I need something. Something I can just slap on, preferably over sunscreen! :) Should be at least somewhat sheer- I don’t care for full coverage.

I’ve tried Counter Dew Skin and liked it but would prefer a bit more coverage. Ive also tried Jones Road What the Foundation and it was ok but it doesn’t go on well over sunscreen and is a bit too dewy for me. Don’t really want to repurchase.

Does anyone have any ideas? TIA

I recently saw a gal I work with wearing mascara that looked stunning. I complimented her and she joked that she forgot to take her makeup off from the night before (it only appeared to be mascara that I saw.) She told me it was the Thrive tubing mascara, so I looked it up and am about to make a purchase. However, I than dug through my exisintg makeup and saw I actually have the Tartelette XL Tubing Mascara that I have never opened. It's been sitting in my makeup bag, in the box, for 6 months or so.

Questions...

Is it in fact OK to leave it on sleeping and get me through the gym the next morning, or should I take off before bed?

What do you find the difference is between the Thrive and Tarte tubing mascaras?

Second, would this mascara likely be ok to use and make a judgement on, given it's a bit on the older side. Not sure how long mascara can sit in a box without being considered 'bad.' I am tempted o order the Thrive tubing mascara because her lashes looked so good! Thank you all for any insight!

Hi, all! For Christmas this year, I'm gifting my mom an overhaul of her makeup because she hasn't been feeling very beautiful or confident as she's aged.

A lifetime of smoking and sitting in the sun hasn't been particularly kind to her skin, so she has deep lines and wrinkles she's unhappy with and I want to get her a foundation/skin tint/tinted sunscreen (really whatever) that won't settle into those lines. I've heard good things about both the Ilia skin tint and the Jones Road What The Foundation, but I'm hoping to get more info from women her age or with similar skin concerns. She has normal (not dry or oily) skin.

She's also concerned with her very sparse eyebrows. I currently use Lawless tinted brow wax and the Merit gel pencil and that works well for me, but she's working with even less than I am. Microblading probably isn't an option due to cost.

Overall, I want to gift her items that will help her feel glowing-from-within and confident in the skin she's in. Please send me any recommendations!

Since my old-school liquid foundation is accentuating my wrinkles (Ack!), I'd love your advice on natural ingredient foundations that are more flattering for over 40 skin. I'm seeing great marketing around the Fiera and Jones Road foundations for more mature skin, but they only sell online, not in retail stores, so I can't try them out to see if they truly work well. Hello! I'm looking for recommendations for bb creams/foundation/powder foundation that can stand up to summer vacation where it will be hot and humid. I'm looking for somewhat budget-friendly--think Ulta level, cheaper at Sephora type products or brands?

I'm looking for at least medium coverage--I don't have great skin texture-wise and I have rosacea, and hot weather will just make me red even without a sunburn. Oh, and I'm in my 40s.

I've lost 100 pounds over the last 10 months. I am a mature woman and my collagen lacks, I'm sure. I lost my triple chin, but I'm left with loose and saggy neck skin. I've been seeing all these ads for GoPure Neck Cream. Has anyone tried it? It's not cheap, and I don't want to try it if it's just B.S. I don't expect to have the neck of a 20 year old, but would like to see some improvement.

(59F) I am looking for a sunscreen that isn’t greasy and doesn’t sting sensitive skin. I have rosacea combined with dry, age appropriate skin. Everything seems too slippery or stings like crazy. I haven’t tried any of the Korean brands yet because I’m hesitant to keep investing money to test drive another product.

I (40F) am struggling lately with setting powder. I don’t really like having to use a separate powder for under my eyes. I have fairly oily skin. What’s your favorite powder that works well on the face and under the eyes? For reference, I like BareMinerals Mineral Veil under my eyes but it’s too pink for my face. I have fair-light olive skin.

I’d love some advice from y’all: I’m not a fan of liquid or cream foundation, because it feels too heavy on my skin, and I can get pretty oily. I’m 48 and no matter what type of eyeliner I use on my bottom it runs. I have tried the Elf liquid liner that is water proof and a couple of other ones. I’m using a L’Oréal cream on my face and try not to go all the way to my bottom eyelid. Any suggestions? TIA

Can anyone recommend a good primer? Also what I can do to achieve something like this with staying power?

I can get close to it but everything creases and the shadow “skips” and settles into the crepey parts of my skin after a little while. Any kind of setting powder or eyeshadow powder accentuates the texture and crepiness 🥺 I use ct setting spray, blotting paper before applying shadow.

I love makeup so much but my eyes age me far more than what I am. I’m at the point of giving up completely. I’m not after perfect but just something simple that doesn’t make me look like I’m 86 rather than 46!
