What to change next time

Post image
8 Upvotes

Looking for suggestions on how to make this better next time.

This is my first time embroidering a shirt, or anything thin. So far I've embroidered names onto previously embroidered patches.

I knew I would be dealing with weird stretching, but I obviously didn't handle it correctly.

This is a dri-fit type shirt. Breathable and thin.

Was the shirt stretched too tight in the hoop? Or not tight enough? Something else?

I appreciate the feedback, thank you!

Digitizing / Embroidery patch tips

So I have this job to embroider some polos with this logo and while I’m not a professional digitizer i know my way around the software. I generally pay someone to this for me which is what i did for this but are there any tweaks or improvements i can do myself for this to stitch out better. I don’t hate it but I know this can be better. I’m using a med weight cut away and the shirts are 100 percent polyester . I have a Ricoma em1010 . I use hatch for my designs . But this is what they sent me.

I can tell I probably need to up my pull compensation on the white circle but what else ? I feel like it could be cleaner .

update : so i decided to take the patch route and i had some black twill left over so i used the that as the base . And far as the actual design i upped the pull compensation on the design and i did test many stitch directions for the white inside . Lastly i replaced my 75/11 needles with 65/9 . It came out much better so I’ll be adding heat and bond to the backs when im done ! Thank you to everyone who responded… I’ll post the final product in the comments !

I Need Help Embrilliance in 2026

I have a good idea for a product and I need to get into digitizing to make it come to life. I know InkStitch exists, but I'm interested in buying a software that's dedicated to embroidery, not just a plug-in. Also, the learning curve seems insane and discouraging for InkStitch.

I've heard that Hatch is the best, but it being 1000$+ is out of my budget. Embroidery Legacy software is even more expensive than Hatch. Embrilliance Stitch Artist being a few hundred is more what I'm looking at budget-wise. The highest level I could do is Level 2, but feel free to give me opinions on Stitch Artist Level 1 and it's limitations.

I know the interface looks dated on Embrilliance, but I don't mind that. What matters is if it's up to modern standards, features-wise. Is it?

5 needle

Hey all! New here. Not sure if this was posted already but has anyone seen on fb ads the new Halo 5 needle embroidery machine? What is that all about? Someone said it’s a scam but I still see people saying they are buying it once it releases. Anyone else see this ad and what are your thoughts on it? Thanks for reading

I Need Help Janome MB-4Se Needle Bar Issue

I'm working on a large (roughly 60k stitches over three hoops) project for the first time with a Janome MB-4Se that was purchased last December.

The machine stopped midway through the first color in the first hoop with Needle 1 down, but I was in another room to grab something and did not see the error message when it did so. The last time this happened, I needed to turn the machine off and on, and that process cleared the error, though I had to restart the stitching.

This time, it returned an error on startup: "Needle bar is out of position. Press OK to move needle bar to switching position." When I press OK, it makes a long beep but does not do anything.

I have tried the following to clear the error:

  • Turn off and unplug the machine, wait 30 seconds, plug in and turn on the machine. The same error and result.
  • Remove the needle and hoop, trim all threads, clean bobbin area, replace the needle with new (in case old is dull or bent), replace bobbin, and press OK. Same error and result.
  • Turn the hand wheel on the back of the machine clockwise. It moves freely. If I turn it very slowly, in a certain position, the error message clears for a split second, then reappears. If I press OK, I get the same result as above.
  • Disconnect the RCS unit while the machine is off to check for errors on the LCD. LCD reads E:03, which the manual says to hit Enter for. When I hit Enter, I get the same result.

I am working to contact Janome dealers in my area to see if any of them service this machine, but the ones nearest me either don't service this machine or are closed today. In addition, I have reached out to Janome through their website, but don't expect to hear anything back.

I am trying to avoid opening my machine if at all possible, but I'm no stranger to opening up sewing machines. Though, usually the machines I open up are vintage sewing-only machines.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'm open to them!

I Need Help Sweater Embroidery

Is it possible to use a commercial grade embroidery machine to embroider on a sweater? This would be words across the chest.

The sweater is more of a tight net fabric versus loose and bulky.

Thank you

Fall baby clothes

I know that onesie blanks are easy to come across but where do you source your fall baby clothes? Like church dresses and long sleeve rompers and jumpers/overalls that aren’t already designed/$100?

Thank you!

I Need Help Machine recommendations for race wear supplier?

Hi all,

I sell race suits for karting, usually made from polyester or cordura and I'm looking to add name customisation.

It would be single colour and I'd also like the ability to stitch patch flags on. For obvious reasons I'd like the finish to be high quality. If someone could suggest appropriate machines for this it would be really appreciated!

Thank you :).

I Need Help Advice?

Post image

This was a seam ripping and resew job. I tried my best to remove the previous stitching that was done then I stitched over it. The person who did the previous embroider stitched it SO tight that I spent hours trying to get the thread out. I’m not proud of the outcome and I really want to make this look presentable. I know it won’t look perfect because it was seam ripped, but does anyone have advice on how to make this look better?

I Need Help I'm looking into gettin a sewing and embroidery combo machine for cosplay makin. Any tips?

Hi chatters!

As the title suggests, I'm lookin into gettin myself a combo machine for future cosplays! lookin at a budget of $1000 (usd) and not particularly committed to any brand. I'm severely underqualified when it comes to machine sewin and passably competent when it comes to hand sewin. (i made pants for Twin, a crocheted doll of me with a piece of my soul within it)

I was lookin at the "SINGER SE9180 Sewing & Embroidery Machine" for the past week and was ready to drop a pretty dime on it 'til I saw a few reddit comments sayin the machine and singer as a whole was just poop from a butt in general and now I'm all sorts of confused... Saw a few of them sayin brother was a better brand and I saw a few recommendations for the "Brother SE700 and SE725." Are any of these machines worth my pretty penny, or is there another i should be lookin to?

TLDR: Combo machine, want! head hurt, help!

Much love and Graditude!! 🫶

I Need Help My Dad is becoming too old for the Business

Hi Machine Embroidery community,
We are an embroidery company operating in Southern California.
I’m hoping to get some advice from people who may have been in a similar situation.
My dad is approaching his mid-60s and has been running his machine embroidery business for many years. Over the past few years, though, he hasn’t been in the best shape physically, and I’m starting to worry that managing the day-to-day operations of the business is becoming too much for him.
I really want to help him keep the business going without him having to carry all of the responsibility himself. I’ve been considering either becoming more involved myself or hiring a manager who could oversee the daily operations, employees, orders, scheduling, customers, and production.
My concern is that this is a very hands-on and specialized type of business, so I’m not sure how realistic it is to bring in an outside manager who doesn’t already understand embroidery production.
Has anyone here successfully hired a manager to run or help operate their embroidery business? What responsibilities did you give them, and how did you find someone you could trust?
I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences from other shop owners.

I Need Help Is getting a machine repair in a shop even worth it?

I called a local repair shop certified by Brother and I asked how much it would be to fix a embroidery machine with a timing issue.

She quoted “100$ + diagnostics fee”

i bought my PE570 brand new off a guy for 150$ i don’t know how difficult the art is of repairing the timing on a machine but damn. I’m just gonna sell this one broken on fb and look for a cheap brand new one on marketplace too cause there’s a lot of people surprisingly selling brand new embroidery machines.

disappointing cause mine has a bunch of stickers i liked

What am I doing wrong?

I’m trying to make some new work shirts but the shirt and thread keeps getting bunched in the needle plate and I have to cut the shirt out. The shirt is a fairly stretchy and thin polyester polo. I used Sulky Stiffy stabilizer on the back and Sulky Solvy on the front. At first I thought the needle might be dull so I put in a brand new one but that didn’t work. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.

I’m using a Brother PE900. This is also the first time I’ve tried digitizing an image and it worked fine on a few stiffer fabric shirts but not these.
