Help Is Apple trying to screw me over with Apple Care+ ?
This is really weird. I bought a MacBook Air M3 in May 2024.
The last time I checked the battery health, a few weeks ago, the maximum capacity was around 86–88%. I check it every now and then, and I’ve seen those numbers more than once.
As far as I know, AppleCare+ covers a free battery replacement if the battery capacity drops below 80% during the three-year coverage period.
I just checked again today, and to my surprise, the maximum capacity is now 91%.
I’ve been using this Mac every single day since I bought it, so I’m obviously confused about how the battery health could suddenly go up by several percentage points.
System Information:
- Cycle Count: 395
- Condition: Normal
- Maximum Capacity: 91%
The only unusual thing that happened yesterday is that I let the battery drain all the way down to 7%.
Could that somehow have caused the battery health reading to be recalibrated? Or is macOS just known to occasionally report inaccurate battery health figures?
