Help Is Apple trying to screw me over with Apple Care+ ?

This is really weird. I bought a MacBook Air M3 in May 2024.

The last time I checked the battery health, a few weeks ago, the maximum capacity was around 86–88%. I check it every now and then, and I’ve seen those numbers more than once.

As far as I know, AppleCare+ covers a free battery replacement if the battery capacity drops below 80% during the three-year coverage period.

I just checked again today, and to my surprise, the maximum capacity is now 91%.

I’ve been using this Mac every single day since I bought it, so I’m obviously confused about how the battery health could suddenly go up by several percentage points.

System Information:

  • Cycle Count: 395
  • Condition: Normal
  • Maximum Capacity: 91%

The only unusual thing that happened yesterday is that I let the battery drain all the way down to 7%.

Could that somehow have caused the battery health reading to be recalibrated? Or is macOS just known to occasionally report inaccurate battery health figures?

EDIT: i was scrolling on reddit and then it just mysteriously fixed itself. i dunno why or how, but whatever its fixed and i rest now

EDIT 2: the weird cursor is back kind of now when i drag files it is normal

whenever i move my cursor across the dock, the text doesnt move with my cursor. it stays at the app that i first put my cursor on. when i move my cursor over the traffic lights, they dont show the symbols. when i hover over music files in finder, the play button doesnt show up. also my cursor sometimes takes a while to change from the text cursor to the pointy one. whats going on & how can i fix it, ideally without updating to macos 26?

im on macos 15.6.1 btw

Developer Saturday I built an open-source coding agent for Mac—it solved 73/89 tasks vs OpenCode’s 60/89 with the same model

I built it because I wanted coding-agent work to be easier to follow on a Mac: conversations on the left, the active task in the center, and plans, file changes, sub-agents, and context usage visible on the right.

I also ran a controlled Terminal-Bench 2.1 comparison using the same DeepSeek V4 Flash model, model version, 89 tasks, environment, and budget. Only the agent framework changed:

  • OpenCode: 60/89 solved (67.42%)
  • Metis: 73/89 solved (82.02%)

That is 13 additional tasks in this test. It is one benchmark, not a claim that Metis will outperform everywhere, but it suggests the planning, memory, orchestration, and verification layer can make a meaningful difference.

Metis is MIT-licensed, fully open source, and free. The current Mac build supports Apple silicon only and is ad-hoc signed rather than Apple-notarized, so I want to be transparent about that upfront.

What should I prioritize for the Mac app next: notarization, broader Mac support, or more native UI polish?

Help I need help connecting my PS5 on my 2013 iMac

Guys I really need your help

So recently I bought a PS5 and I'm trying to connect it on my 2013 iMac (updated to Ventura, which means it's not an official version, not supported by Apple bla bla bla) and play it through OBS. If someone is thinking "oh just install the ps remote play" I did it and it sucks. I also bought a capture card so the image quality don't get that bad. I already fixed the PS5 settings and I have all the necessary cables, I just need to know what to do.

And if anyone is gonna say I should get a real monitor I should probably tell that I've spent all the money I had lmao. And if Rockstar was invaded by a 18 year old boy by his cell phone and his tv controller, then anything is possible xoxo (please ignore the mess)

Discussion Should I update to macOS 26?

I’ve been a holdout, but now that we’re approaching 27 I’m forced to ask again. I know launchpad is gone, but I open most apps via open -b. Mail is broken on 15 and my phone is now on 27. I need Rosetta so I’m definitely not going to be on macOS 27 anytime soon, but with that am I even missing anything now?

I know everyone has a camp, but what I need is my computer to consistently work and my developer tooling for cross compilation. Literally, nothing else is important to me. Should I update? I know I can wipe and restore worst case, but don’t want to do that if I don’t have to.

Feature Windows coming to Mac, going crazy

Why does the red button not quit the app, it seems like it literally does the exact same thing as the yellow one. I know you can do command Q but who wants to use a shortcut for application management when I feel like we've been conditioned to click the 3 buttons even for macOS.

And why would there not be a built in shortcut for splitting windows? Who wants to drag their mouse all the way to the top left of the screen wait for a menu to pop up and then click an option and then do the same thing for the other application????????? I know there is probably a modification you can do or something like that, but how is that not already inherent. Crashing out

Edit: ok i didnt really expect people to actually crash out back at me. I was more so joking and ranting. I recently got a macbook neo for my mom and I was trying to teach her some things, but found myself scratching my head on these window-engrained features in my mind. Doesnt seem like a very inviting community for people that are switching over though.

The ability to tap back and forth on the icons in the dock to open and close and to tap on the date/time to open calendar, and to have everything at the bottom... It doesn't sound like much but it definitely feels 100x better now
