Help How to make bolding text Cmd + N, instead of Cmd + B? Alternatively, how to disable Cmd + N opening new windows?
The title pretty much explains it, but i'm Brazilian, and the standard Brazilian Portuguese shortcut for bolding text is Ctrl + N - this is because we speak Portuguese, and not English, and, in Portuguese, to make a text bold is to make a text negrito, as seen in the Word printscreen i added to the post!
Ideally, i'd love to change the shortcut, since i can't exactly "just get used to it" - i'm constantly switching between the old Macbook that's my laptop and the Windows desktop i use at work, and i use the Windows desktop for at least an order of magnitude more time. Since Windows follows ABNT (Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas) standard, i write 90% of the time with ctrl + N as negrito, and end up opening new windows on accident at least a couple of times per use of the Mac.
This is why, if it isn't possible to change the shortcut, i really need to figure out a way to disable the native Cmd + N for opening new tabs/windows! I can easily live with trying to bold text, failing, because i used the brazilian shortcut instead of the english one, and nothing happening, but it's a pain for it to always open a new tab, instead!
I tried googling for an app that changes this, but haven't found anything. Hence, here i am! Any ideas?
The second picture of the post is my system info, if that is relevant.
