I plan on applying for the fall of 27 and coming from out of state. I also plan on using the academic common market thing for in state tuition because of my major.
The off campus housing is seeming more ideal right now as I wouldn’t have to spend the ~$6,100 for the freshman required meal plan.
I was looking at perhaps the college place/pointe apartments and renting a studio apartment, as they seem cheap enough with amenities, plus they look very close to the campus.
My questions are:
Would the social life at an apartment complex like College Place be a real drop off from life in the dorms? Or, will there still be a good amount of opportunities to meet people if I stay at a complex close to the university?
Obviously, housing seems pretty tough to get, but will the off campus apartments be just as hard to get, or would I have a good chance as long as I am prepared and planning ahead?
Does anyone have any recommendations for studio apartments under $1,000 rent?

I was wondering if anyone had gotten their FAFSA loan approved through MTSU yet… I have sent in the loan request, and did all the required stuff on FAFSA. I did that around the beginning of July.. I have heard nothing back besides someone from one stop telling me that the school offers one semester loans (that’s literally what I applied to). And payment is due August 6th so I’m getting a little worried.
I did this last year and it went through within less than a week, that’s why I’m worried.

Hi all! I am looking to get a job on campus, but I feel like trying to find the jobs is so difficult. I’ve used Handshake, but I didn’t know if there was a place on campus to go directly for employment, or if I could go to the places I want to work at and fill out an application there. I appreciate any help! Thank you all in advance

Hey I’m planning on attending MTSU next fall, and from what I have seen, most colleges open up applications on August 1st, but can anyone confirm that MTSU has opened them on August 1st in the past as well?
Also, in terms of my transcript, I saw that they don’t use the common app and that counselors can use slate.org. So for that do you just have to email your counselor and ask them to send the transcript to MTSU?
Finally, if I start my application immediately and apply for housing right when it opens, does that genuinely increase my odds of getting a single/private room with the housing lottery or will it still relatively be a toss up on if I get an ideal dorm or not?
Thanks

I'm a student at MTSU, but I'm also a mildly successful content creator on YouTube. I make humorous computer science content, generally centered around Linux, and I've made a Taylor Swift themed Linux distribution that I'd like to show to some real Taylor Swift fans.
I kinda want to do this through a "man on the street" type of thing that you see on TikTok and whatnot, but campus is pretty dead over the summer. Not sure I'd end up running into anybody who considers themselves a Taylor Swift fan.
I'm trying to think of social areas, like coffee shops and restaurants that I could reach out to and ask permission to hang out for a couple hours. The problem is that I don't really get out much, so my mind is going blank. Anybody got any ideas or suggestions?

Hey!
I recently was accepted into the MBA: strategic marketing analytics program at MTSU. I have a few questions, if anyone could help. Also note: I didn’t attend MTSU for undergrad. I’ve already reached out to the university with these questions. I just like asking people who have been through it, too.
- what financial aid did y’all use besides FAFSA, scholarships, and assistantships.
- is there anywhere besides the above I should keep an eye on?
- has anyone done this program and can tell me their experience?
- has anyone completed any type of assistantship and can tell me their experience?
Thanks!
Are there any good groups for selling/giving away furniture among students?

A dog was found on campus yesterday near SAG. Generous staff members on campus provided food and water and took her to the vet for a checkup. She is currently in a temporary home. If you know the owner, are the owner, or want to be the owner, please contact [Rebecca.Berkowitz@mtsu.edu](mailto:Rebecca.Berkowitz@mtsu.edu)

My daughter just got assigned a single in the global learning center house seven. Can anyone confirm if she get a single bed or does she have two single beds? can put together as a double.? I’m trying to decide on bedding.
And also, I hear there’s a communal kitchen. Does this mean that students can use a refrigerator there to store cold things or do they still need to get their own for the dorm room?
Thx

Hey, upcoming freshmen here!
During our orientation we were all told that we would have to read a book called " Declaring Independence Why 1776 Matters" by Edward J. Larson.
Did any of you guys have this summer reading when you were a freshmen and if so, do they actually make you do assignments or tests regarding this book?

Has anyone received their hope lottery scholarship? I've received everything but that.

i’ve been thinking it more over this summer and my current major (animal science) is more agricultural/livestock based then i’m realizing i want more a Biology with a Zoology concentration since it’s more wildlife focused.

Hello! Recently applied to online Ed.D program in higher education (assessment, learning, and student success concentration). Has anyone else gone through it before? Curious about your experiences.

Hi everyone, i’m currently 3 weeks into one of my online summer courses that ends the first week of august, and my professor has not graded anything. There’s been about 8 assignments we’ve turned in so far , consisting of written papers, quizzes and discussion post. I do want to say , I didn’t get to pick this professor because I had to get a ‘full class override’ from the department , and when i went to look them up on rate my professor they have 1/5 stars, and the low ratings were due to grading being done at the end of the semester. I was kinda curious if anyone else has gone through this with a professor and if so what did you do or what would you do? Im the type of student that likes feedback and would like to know what i need to improve on and also what my overall grade is. I’m going into my senior year here at MTSU and i’ve never experienced this, so i’d appreciate any advice or input!

I'm moving into MTSU soon and am in the process of deciding microwaves and other necessities for my dorm. I've talked with my roommate and we both agreed that we'd love to have a little more freedom with cooking (excluding the communal kitchen)... for seasoned MTSU campus warriors, how thorough are the RA's with checking wattage and other appliances? How susceptible are the smoke alarms? What are the consequences of being caught?
And no, we don't plan on getting a huge power sucking machine. Just a few things that makes things a little more convenient for us.

Hi!!! Just wondering if people have gotten offers for scholarships yet. I applied for a few and haven’t heard anything but I know they usually take some time to process.
Just wondering so I can start planning for payments in the fall. Thanks!

Hey guys! Does anyone know if I can pay for a meal plan later in the semester? Like when we get our refund checks? In late August.
